Staff was really friendly at check in and when we needed a couple things. Room was clean and seemed well maintained, though both thermostats were flashing low battery! It didn't stop them from working though. Wi-fi service was good. Ate breakfast downstairs one morning and it was the usual Holiday Inn Express offerings. One evening several of us sat in the lobby area and played cards for a couple hours and no one bothered us. I will definitely stay at this location again if we are in the Lexington/Louisville area. Being right on I64 in the middle made it super convenient for either direction.

Then when I had shown up today, the reservation had to be modified because the bill amount was off by a $1. They do have the popcorn cart as shown in the pictures (supposedly, the cart is open at 3 p.m.). Not confirmed, since I did not check if they actually had made any popcorn. I like the fact that the room overlooks the pool. I discovered some weak areas at this hotel: The bathroom entrance in room, I noticed is a bit smaller than standard I feel. I have to go in sideways just to go in. Reminds me of an airline lavatory. The water in the shower had taken more than the usual amount of time to become warm. In fact, it never became warm. Cue coffee machine. I made hot water using the coffee machine in three cups, mixed with cold water from shower and was able to at least wash above my waist. Below the waist (TMI I know), I used the cold water from the shower. I noticed the channels listed on a guide are not all of them. Missing channels on the guide and what I either found them out as or channels that were listed, but were dead: 88 No program, but it is actually a duplicate of Showtime (Show2) 84 NBCSN is no longer available 68 No program is actually an unknown channel that has something on it 58 Shophq is a channel no longer available. On the t.v. it is listed as Shopnbc 50-53 They are actually HBO and HBO affiliate channels (2, COM, SIG); even though, the reception is messed up. 49 No program is actually CSPAN Washington Journal

Eggs seem re-constituted, tasteless. Sausages and patties were just OK. 3. The mgr. (?) does not need to be standing there "observing" in the dining room, and the utilities room does not need to be exposed. The breakfast area needs a more inspired atmosphere and pleasant music. 4. As with the rest, there is a real lack of any atmosphere - paintings or nice pictures are totally missing in the corridors. There could be more American decor - this is America, not a foreign country. In the dining room as well as lobby, there is no pleasant music. Totally dull. Despite the reasonable price, we would not return.

The lobby was clean, the staff was nice, and the little "market" they have in the lobby was very convenient for my teenage kids that wanted snacks at all hours. There is a delicious, decent priced restaurant right next door (Cattleman's Roadhouse) and if you show your hotel door key, you get a free order of mozzarella wedges! The only bummer during our stay was that the pool was closed for something needing fixed. My kids were very disheartened, the front desk said on our first day of check in that it should be fixed that day, but it was not, and then it was still closed on our second day at the hotel as well. I did not complain too much to the front desk, but maybe I should have asked for a discount due to the one amenity we searched for (pool), while booking, was unavailable to use. If we'd known, I would have looked for another hotel to stay at so we could swim, especially since we got a lot of rain during our stay and could not do many of the outdoor activities we'd planned to do. It would have been nice to swim while stuck inside.

The marker reads, "Established in 1859 by George A. Armstrong and was known for its good food and lodgings. Guerrilla leader Ed Terrell stopped here briefly, May 26, 1866. Attempting to escape, he was mortally wounded nearby. Brigadier General Henry H. Denhardt was slain here, Sept. 20, 1937. When the hotel was destroyed by fire on February 7, 1944, the owners decided not to rebuild." There is street parking along US-60 and several parking lots in the area. Spoke with front desk the next day to show and tell them about the bug problem but they didn't seem to care. Even after emailing my Ambassador rep about the problem still no call from the management about my stay after telling them over a week ago. Will think twice before staying here again.
