I hired Econo West to replace some parts in my heating unit while we were in the middle of a kitchen renovation. Unfortunately, after the repair, one of the parts they worked on caused a significant water leak that resulted in substantial water damage to my home. To their credit, Econo West came back out and corrected the issue with the heater. The bigger problem came a few weeks later when mold began appearing in the walls affected by the water damage. I spoke directly with the owner and went back and forth with him about the situation. Rather than taking responsibility for the mold damage, I was told that I couldn't prove their leak caused it and that the mold could have already been there before the water damage occurred. The owner also wanted to speak with my contractor because he was concerned that we were trying to get an excessive amount of money out of the situation. Ultimately, I had the damaged areas repaired as part of my renovation and decided not to pursue the matter any further. Had I not been doing renovations, I might have pursued it more, but at that point, the time and stress involved simply weren't worth it to me. I'm leaving this review because I think potential customers should know about my experience. Mistakes happen, and I appreciated that Econo West returned to fix the heater issue. What disappointed me was how the resulting damage was handled afterward. When a repair causes a major water leak, I believe a company should stand behind not only the repair itself, but also reasonably address the damage that resulted from it, especially when it has the potential to cause damage to someone's health. Unfortunately, based on how my situation was handled, I would not use Econo West again. Edit: In response to the comment below, the drywall was not replaced behind the cabinets like you said. In fact, it was my contractor that completed that job. The fix you guys made stopped above the cabinet and the mold was found behind the cabinet, directly below the work completed by your team. We had the BEST experience here! Around 4:30pm we realized that our thermostat stopped working and we panicked. After an hour of trying to figure it out ourselves, we gave up and called Econo. Big Dan and Ethan came to our house within about 10 minutes! Econo West is the bomb, they are great. I should have called them first before I called Arctic air. Arctic air came out changed my thermostat like I asked, but then they said I had other issues that turned out to not be the case. The only issue was my Freon was leaking and he said if it was the freon and the coil that it could develop a block of ice that could melt and do damage to my ceiling or whatever. He gave me estimate for freon, dye, and things I don't remember. But it equaled over $2,000 and that was just for the estimate, not even including the repairs. And he said if it was the coils it couldn't be repaired that I would need a whole new unit. Well I had Econo West come out and they diagnosed it and found the leak and fixed it for $840. Econo West is who I used to use but I lost their number. I just found their magnet and called them and they came within minutes after the guy from Arctic Air left. I thought they were going to be here while he was sitting in his truck in front of my house doing whatever. Thank God he left. And I heard that Arctic air used to be really good back in the day. When the owner sold it a corporation bought it and when they bought it, of course the pricing went through the roof because that is what corporations do. If you want your AC or heating done properly and professionally and inexpensively, call Econo West, they are great. And they sell air units cheaper than Arctic air and they even offer 5-year or 10 year financing. If I were you, I would go with Econo West, I would not go with Arctic air. I learned my lesson. And I can't believe it cost $355 just for a thermostat. But you know what, lesson learned. I will never use Arctic air again. I could not believe all those charges on his iPad. And those were just for diagnosing. Over $2,000, that was ridiculous. As far as I'm concerned, they are Crooks. If you want to get ripped off, go to them. But if you don't, go to Econo West. I had meant to leave a review last year when we used Econo West for the first time, but never followed through. It was one of those dreaded events for a homeowner- the compressor for the heating and air went out in the month of August ( OF COURSE!!) and had to be replaced. I remember being shocked at how quickly the team responded and were able to come out. The quote I got was much lower than anticipated, which was a relief. But the most amazing thing was that the installation crew stayed late into the night at no extra charge to make sure the new unit was functioning as expected. They also made sure that the new equipment had a warranty. This brings me to today. Another hot day, and the fan in the unit died. Again, the crew responded the next morning and because the component is still under warranty they are getting it changed out for only the labor cost. I got my Heating and A/C unit installed brand new in 2017 and never had it serviced (lol I know). I asked him to provide me with a bid. The next day I had the bid. I OK,d for the company to move forward and install the new furnace. We were having heating and thermostat issue with the close of winter. Called EconoWest Friday morning and they had a technician come out Saturday morning. They examined what the service charge was and explains that is was waivabke upon completion of suggested repair(s). Richard arrived and immediately introduced himself and handed me his business card. I explain to Richard what was going on and the alerts I was receiving. While diagnosing the problem, Richard checked the information on our AC system too. Richard explained what he found, what needed to be done to fix and have me the cost to fix it. The cost was reasonable, so we had him perform the work. While Richard was performing the work, he offered advice on maintaining the heating and cooling system and also informed me of some new technology available for install to help better filter the air. Once he was done with the repair, he made sure everything worked as it should. He also made sure the area was clean and all screws were properly installed. I highly recommend EcknoWest and Richard in particular for any of you HVAC needs. In the future, I will be using them again. read more
