I drove in with a load of recyclables I had carefully collected traveling from Nevada, trying to do…read morethe right thing for the environment. I was completely unaware of Oregon's stricter recycling requirements compared to other states. The woman who checked my bags was immediately rude and dismissive. She told me she was "sorry for me" in a condescending tone and offered zero education or guidance on what was acceptable or how the rules work here. No helpful information, no suggestions--just negativity. As someone who will be in town for the next few months, this encounter has unfortunately left such a bad feeling that I won't be returning to recycle. It's a shame, because I want to participate responsibly, but interactions like this discourage people from even trying.

We just moved to the area and had a bunch of cardboard boxes and paper wrap to recycle…read more Location is convenient and easy to find. Upon arrival we waited behind 1 car. It didn't take long. We didn't know what to expect. The elderly lady working the booth asked what we were disposing. We started cardboard and paper. She then proceeded to tear through every bag making sure we had no trash. And when she's found some tissue paper she pulled it out and said"this is trash" kind of rudely. Like ok.. My mistake. It's paper in my eyes. But apparently tissue paper doesn't qualify for paper recycling. No big thing. We took the small amount aside. She let us through the gate and we put the cardboard in the cardboard bin and paper on paper bin. Took the "trash" and now all the torn plastic bags that we could have reused, put them in the cab of our truck and left. Not sure if this is "normal"employee behavior. She's a little rough around the edges. Maybe it's the clientele she deals with daily? But someone could give her a little kindness course or two. Other than that, the facility is clean and relatively easy to dispose of recyclables. You can dispose of trash. It seems rather expensive at $9.50 a barrel. But I don't know what a "barrel" is, as I didn't use this service. Of course we'll be back, doing our part, helping keep Oregon clean and green.
