The park has undergone extensive cleanup. It feels safer to walk through and undercover police patrol. The dod park is divided for small dogs away from the big dogs, which is great! There's plenty of parking! The bathrooms are nice but could use some more. With playgrounds, soccer and baseball fields, football fields and frisbee golf, it's easy to stay busy here for the day. I'd heard the playground was worth checking out and it absolutely was! Many of the same upgraded play items that you can also find at Clarke House but much closer to us. Loved the shade created by the trees as well as the tarp triangles. I am also a huge fan of the turf as I feel comfortable putting my little guy who's crawling on it to play. The only thing i wish were different would be another access point to the big slide where parents could join kids without climbing through tunnels. read more

I've been coming to this park since 2020 when all of the gyms closed. It's one of the best parks Jacksonville has to offer for getting steps in, walking your pet, & meeting other pet parents here for fenced in play time with your dog off leash (in the shade!, that's a huge help for the summer months) This park also includes a skate park, basketball court, disc golf, baseball grounds, water fountains along the perimeter walking trail, etc. I think one full lap around the trail is around a little over 2 miles. I love bringing my dog here so we both can get our steps in for the day, but also for meet ups with other pet parents and their dogs in the park. There is so much room for the pets to run, plus it's free! Poop bags, water, & trash cans are all provided. This is a great park to bring the whole family to. read more

Ed Austin is a sprawling park on the east side of Jacksonville. Formerly a golf course, it's now home to a decent disc golf course. The course had a mixture of open & treed terrain. Both have different degrees of difficulty. Holes are moved occasionally to vary your play. Each hole offers 3 pads at the tee area for different skill levels. There are no fees or county residency requirements to play & regulars are friendly and helpful. The park also has soccer fields, baseball/softball and a senior center. Ed Austin Regional Park is a great place to socialize, exercise and have fun. I utilized the large dog park. But I see that they have a nice long walking trail around the park as well. This is one of the largest free dog parks I've ever seen. And it has many big old trees to keep you and your fur baby cool. There are also several water stations in different sections of the park. The dog park is essentially sand with a lot of pine needles in the mix. It can be messy but my boy Simba had a blast! This was his first time to a dog park and he was a little nervous at first. But once he saw the dogs all started running he joined in on the fun. There are lots of doggy stations with poop bags. I wish everyone used them! Watch out where you walk you might step in a doggie mine lol! I would absolutely recommend this dog park. But like any dog park I suggest staying near your dog in case there are any aggressive dogs nearby. We didn't have any issues but I've had issues in the past with my previous puppy girl Roxy. read more

I recently visited Ed Austin Park to play at the disc golf course. It was well maintained, and the course had changed in the month in between me playing which meant your skills for development. The complex also has several other sporting areas from soccer to walking trails and more. We had never been got Ed Austin before! This is another beautiful place to walk in Jax!! We did the trail from one entrance to the other and it's 1.5mi each direction. It was paved well and easy to follow. There is a ton of parking as well as baseball, football and open fields with multiple disc golf set ups. We loved it!! read more

A community park opened in 1994 in honor of former Jax mayor Ed Austin. It is 144 acres of all kind of recreational areas-soccer, baseball, basketball fields/courts and 2 large play ground areas. Then they have disk golf course and a walking course for adults. On the community building for the park they have posted outside "fill playgrounds not prisons"; oh my, how progressive to feel that way....then post it! What a lovely park for the residents of this area. Ed Austin is a great park to take your pups to in the Jacksonville area. They do separate the big dogs from the small area, but as long as you feel safe bringing your little one over to the big dog side you should not have a problem doing so. The park is shaded with tons of tree so you can bring your dog even in the summer. There are dog parks in the Gainesville area that are great, but less fun for the pups due to sand and lack of trees in the afternoon hours. The park expects the guests to maintain the area by cleaning up after their dog and minding their owners look after them. Pros- Tons of trees for shade and help your dog play hide and side with their friends Water fountains dispersed throughout Plenty of tables for the humans to sit. My son and I love this park! We walk the loop until we get to the playground and then he plays until he gets tired! He always sleeps really well after a day at Ed Austin!! The only thing I wish was different, is the bathroom situation. Every time my child has had to go to the bathroom, they've been locked. On the playground is where we spent most of our days Chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool....but today we decided to try out the walking/bike trail. Let me just warn you... don't do it if you haven't been on a bike in oh 20 years and really don't do it while towing a 45 pound 2.5 year old kid. You're just going to upset all the walkers because of all the stopping you'll have to do. Pretty sure my left lung is somewhere around the .50 mile marker.... just step over it. I am determined to finish out the whole trail with kid in tow... and I'll pick up my lung later. So warning expect us often trying to accomplish this whole trail without stopping so keep laying on the side of the trail is ok to keep walking past. But playgrounds are excellent here!! read more

We moved to the area fairly recently and really enjoy coming to this park. I like coming in weekend morning to run with friends, and recently was able to take my new puppy to the dog park! The running/walking track is just over 1.5 miles and is nice and clean. At the dog park - our baby is still a bit shy but the large dog park (25lbs+) is HUGE, so if we didn't want to be near anybody that was easy to achieve. They have some fun agility tracks to try out. My dog loved the one where she jumps over the bar (like the horses do.) Other dog owners seem to be responsible to clean up after their pets and were friendly for the most part. read more

This used to be a golf course back in the day, but hey hey-now its something else! The entire community and city can utilize this wonderful park. You can walk the trail all the way around the park, you can play the Frisbee golf, walk your dog, ride your bike or have events here. They also have places for the young ones to play their baseball games and soccer. I need to try to start walking here at least two or three times a week. I love this park! There is so much to do here. I often visit the playground with my child. I love the trail. It is paved and is wide enough for passing traffic. There are open fields where you can throw a frisbee, kick a ball etc. The dog park looks massive. I personally have not gone inside the gate (my dog gets scared around other dogs) but we often walk past it. Maintenance seems to be on top of things as well. The only bad thing about this park is there are often people smoking there. When you drive into the park, there is a sign that says it is a tobacco free environment. It also has signs throughout the park that says this. Now, I understand without staff members physically being present, there is not a way to control this issue, BUT it does not make it less annoying. ESPECIALLY when there are people smoking in or directly outside the playground. read more

This park is HUGE! My son did PT here with his fellow recruits and I hiked around dropping painted rocks. Expansive park with plenty of athletic fields and courts. I like that there is an ultimate course (frisbee). Soccer fields, basketball courts, baseball fields, walking trails, biking... you name it- this 144 acres park has it! This is a really cool park. It's HUGE! In this park, there is a huge field on which the Greater Arlington Soccer Club and other soccer groups play. There are also baseball fields, a playground for the kids, a sidewalk to stroll or jog around the park, disc golfing, and a concession stand that is open during game days (usually Saturdays). And of course, with the concession stand, they do have bathrooms here. Sometimes in addition to the permanent concession stand, vendors will come and sell food in the parking lots. Yummy! Right next door is the Police Athletic League building where the kids can also learn karate and other sports. Only thing missing is a vending machine with water in it. Oh, they'd bank if they had this. Think about all those sweaty and thirsty kids! =P read more

Great spot for running or walking. The trail circles the park in a 1.75 mile paved path. There are two playgrounds that children can play in and run around. There is a small skate park where local skateboarders can practice their tricks. You can play competitive frisbee, soccer on one of their 4 marked fields, softball/baseball with friends on one of two baseball diamonds, or basketball on their full court. The park also is home to the Police Athletic league community center. I love this park! They are home to Arlington Futbol Club (arlingtonfc.org) and provide a wonderful atmosphere for kids who want to learn to play recreationally or play competitively. They also have flag football for the spring as well. They always have available portable potties WITH TOILET PAPER(!!) at your disposal as well as providing clean bathrooms near the playground and soccer fields. They have also just added a fenced off dog park to allow your pups to run around freely in the are without getting in the way of other passersby and mingle with other fellow canine lovers. (Please remember to curb your dog.) If it's just to run, walk, let your kids play, learn a new sport or watch other people play, this is a great place to enjoy from the youngest to oldest patrons. read more

Ed Austin park is the definition of tranquil and it's a lovely little neighborhood spot. I could easily spend a whole afternoon here and lose track of time completely. From what I can tell, most people come here to walk their dogs and let them play in the split dog park area. I used to come here to watch my little brother play lacrosse or soccer in one of the park's expansive field areas, but now I come here occasionally to run the little trail that they have encircling the park. There's a lot that Ed Austin has to offer, including separate spaces especially for big dogs and little dogs to play, a baseball park, a basketball area, and a little skateboarding area. There's also a lot of lush foliage and trees around that offer pretty good shade in the warmer months. The only thing I have to warn people about here is to watch your step when running or walking on the trail. Like I said, many people come here with their dogs, so you know what that means: doggie poo poo presents on the sidewalk. It's honestly not that bad at all, and people are usually really good about picking up after their dogs. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't still be vigilant. No one wants a stinky surprise on the bottom of their sneaker. Overall, I love coming to Ed Austin. Everyone is friendly and respectful of others' space and the grounds are very clean. read more

Somebody took a piece of Central Park and placed it in Jacksonville FL. I was just looking for a place to run, but this place has a little of everything. Like I said, this place is great for running. It has a beautifully paved 1.75 mile running path. One minute you're running under the shades of a forest, then one minute, you're in a middle of a wide, green meadow, then next to a picturesque lake. Fresh air, green trees, grass, nature,... great for running or walking. This park also has baseball fields, soccer fields, football, basketball basketball courts, skateboard rinks, frisbee golf courses, and nice dog parks.
