By far a very vile person to work with when it's about money. Napa fires destroyed our venue and pretty much closed down all hotels as the city was Armageddon. Our wedding was cancelled due to no one being able to get into the city as it was under lockdown due to the immense emergency. We physically couldn't get into and we asked to cancel due to the natural disaster. He himself couldn't get into the city and said he wasn't going to attend anymore himself. My wife still wanted to get married so we got married in our backyard and told him he could DJ there. Ed Kicks Butt!! I had to plan a 50th surprise birthday party for my sister and with my ADD I waited to the last minute to book a DJ. Ed was super quick on responding to me and reasonably priced. I only had a quick conversation with him and told him briefly what kind of music we liked, he nailed it. From the time he got there til he left he was so on top of announcements even before I could think of them. You can defiantly tell he has been doing this for a while. Yep, all the 5 star reviews are accurate. Ed really is as good as it gets when it comes to a DJ. We hired Ed for our October'17 wedding at the Meritage in Napa; he is one of their preferred vendors and apparently works there almost every week. So we were already pretty sold before even speaking with him. We had spoken with a few DJs prior to him, but they either rambled on and on, seemed too old-school for us, or only cared about the sales pitch. Ed seemed completely chill, was willing to play absolutely whatever we wanted, and was SUPER reasonably priced compared to others. We needed a completely separate setup on a hilltop for our ceremony, and then down in a wine cave for our reception, and he managed both without a hitch. We had 2 seemingly long calls with Ed in the weeks leading up to the wedding. I will say they seemed excessive at the time, and if anything could have been different I would have included our coordinator in the calls because there were a few misunderstandings/changes on the day-of due to the fact that the two weren't quite in line. But everything was super perfect on the actual wedding day, so I can't complain at all. We hadn't met him until literally 10 minutes before the ceremony started, and when I finally saw him up on the upper deck he called down to me "you look beautiful - this is your day, take a deep breath and enjoy it! I've got the rest". What a cool dude. Even my dad (Doctorate in music performance) was impressed with the seamless transitions of the ceremony music we selected. My husband was *extremely* involved in the music selection (I let him be in charge of that one), and provided Ed with a list of about 20 songs we said were "optional but preferred" that he play. Neither one of us is positive how many he played, so I guess if you have a strong preference that he does just say so. They were obviously optional, and that's why we left it to Ed to read the crowd and own the evening overall. The music was bumping the whole night with a perfect mix of new and old hits, and the dance floor was literally full the entire time. Usually there's that one song where everyone vacates to go wait in line at the bar - nope, with Ed it was literally one song after the next of fun, lively, upbeat hits that had even the grandparents shaking it all night :) read more

We hired Ed the DJ for our wedding a few months ago. I wanted to be sure to review him on Yelp, since he really was fantastic. Ed was professional, thorough, fun, had the right vibe for us on our special day. He ran the sound for the ceremony (music and mics), music for cocktails and dinner, micro-phoning the after-dinner toasts, and the music for the dancing after dinner. In each part of the evening he kept things moving and he must be psychic in choosing the music that made everyone crowd the dance floor all night. Wow. Also worth mentioning, we met over the phone well before the wedding, to go over all the details. At first I thought he had a lot of questions, but when the wedding day came, it was all taken care of, and he just let us have our day and took care of countless behind the scene decisions that were made at that phone meeting. Ed DJd our Russian/American wedding this past weekend and totally rocked it. Our dance floor was full the entire night. Many of our guests commented that they were very impressed with Ed. He had a great mix of old and new music, Russian music, and played the songs we requested. Ed gave us a lot of practical advice about what to do to make things go smoothly, what works and what doesn't work based on his many years of experience. He is extremely knowledgeable about music. Our wedding was in a backyard. This raised several logistical issues i.e. neighborhood noise ordinance, how do we get electrical power for the music, etc. Ed knew what to do. The set up seemed to go off without a hitch. Prior to the wedding, he was easy to communicate with. He responded to emails very quickly. Our pre-wedding phone call was the most streamlined and efficient conversation we had with any of our vendors. Ed was clearly prepared. I have to admit, we only interviewed Ed the DJ, and our photographer, his wife, from Opal Moments Photography, referred us to him. He was kind enough to offer us a discount since they were both working at our wedding. And we lucked out. We were nervous about the dj choice, but were quite satisfied. Ed was great, we met in a cute cafe in a little town near Santa Rosa, and he had us fill out information about what kind of music we wanted at our wedding. We gave him a do not play list, and a list of songs we'd love to hear at the wedding. he also gave us options: what kind of lighting did we want, etcetera. We even provided him with some Wizard Rock songs that we love (Ministry of Magic!) and he was more than cool with playing them - he'd recently done a celtic music wedding for a couple who had an extensive collection. He played great music, plenty of people got on the dance floor and danced a long time, and that was what we were most hoping for. He did exactly what we needed - our favorite classical songs for the meal time, and our favorite fun and happy dance songs to get everybody up and having fun. When a guest requested a song on our do not play list, he handled it graciously with them, got a message to us, and we were able to nix that in the bud easily and without any hassle - one tiny shake of the head sufficed. Our style was really fun, happy dance songs with a great beat, and some classical music for the calmer parts of the reception. One of the adults had to request a slow song for those who couldnt rock out with us quite so much, hehe. Ed did a great job of understanding what we wanted, and fit our style perfectly. We hired Ed the DJ for our wedding. He was the best vendor there, easy to talk to, and worked with us to play the music we were looking for. He showed up to the wedding well dressed, and went above and beyond to make sure people were having a good time. My only complaint is for us he only accepted mailed checks. Ed, Ed, Ed the DJ is the best! We hired him for our wedding in Sonoma back in August. My first call with him was back in March of this year and he really put my husband and I at ease. He is both easygoing and super professional. He owns all of his equipment and has several sets so there is absolutely no worry when it comes to the hardware. My husband and I have very different music tastes (he's into The Smiths and Radiohead, I like classic Bossa Nova and 50's) and Ed the DJ made it all work. He is super easy to work with, is on top of everything, and makes the process seamless and easy. When you're planning a wedding, it can be a lot of work and Ed the DJ made the music piece of our wedding no work at all. We had our wedding at Depot Hotel and Garden Restaurant and he had actually worked with the venue to install their sound system, so he knew this place very well. He is one of four approved DJ's on the preferred vendor list. Day of the wedding, he kept things going and centered us as we were abuzz with meeting our guests. The best thing he told us to do was when we sat down for dinner, take 10-15 seconds just to take everything in. Look at each other, the guests, just really revel in that the big day is here. I'm so glad he gave us that advice because it was the one moment where it really did hit us that we did it, our friends and family were all there, and the event really was a night to remember. And of course, his collection of music is endless. Everyone had a great time. Thanks to him, we felt we didn't even lift a finger for that part of our wedding. I honestly don't understand the positive reviews. I previously didn't even have a yelp account but made one after this experience because no one else should have an event ruined by this guy. Ed was blatantly rude to multiple guests throughout my friend's wedding. His song choice and order were horrible. If anyone tried to say anything to him about the music he would be extremely condescending and dismissive. It was just really bizarre to all of us that as a DJ, Ed couldn't read the room and realize that no one was dancing because the music was that bad. Choosing a DJ for your wedding can be one of the toughest decisions you make, this person is going to control the flow of the entire day/night and at the same time make sure that people are enjoying themselves. Ed DJ'ed my wedding last weekend. Ed was a fantastic find and I am grateful we had him. We didn't realize how much more than music he would provide -- notably, he was the reason the night went so smoothly. He was early and prepared, and ready for any curveballs. When our photographer insisted we leave for some sunset pics right before the planned first dance, DJ Ed said only "tell me what you need; I'll make it happen." He kept our guests busy with the dessert bar while we were out, and was ready to transition as soon as we came back. The guests all had a great time and were dancing all night. My only criticism is that he did favor guest requests over our own must-play list we sent (he played about half of ours). Taking a step back, I'm sure it was important to consider the wants of the 70 other people there. We were hoping for more of our style than the wedding standards, but the majority of guests had a great time and danced the whole night. Also, there was a miscommunication about the timing for our entrance song -- but not enough to make a real impact on the process. Overall, I would hire Ed again. We had a fantastic time and I am grateful we had a professional like him to keep things moving.
