All of the kids had about an hour and a half to swim before it was time to eat cupcakes and various snacks and watch the birthday boy opening presents. The YMCA didn't hold my daughter to an exact number of kids she could invite so there were quite a number in attendance. The…read moredirector lied about many things, they don't lock the doors like they say, they don't teach a curriculum, and they don't really watch children very well. When my wife voiced her concerns about issues she saw, the director threw a fit and told us not to bring her back, then must if realized she was acting like a baby and allowed my daughter to continue to go there. We were in the process of looking for another preschool/daycare at that point. My wife noticed a bottle of bleach left on a cabinet that any child that could stand could reach when she picked up our daughter. The final straw was when my daughter was bit twice and dirt thrown on her by a child on the playground and obviously the teachers weren't paying attention because they didn't even realize she had been bit twice even though my daughter was telling them she got bit twice. We found place that we take her now and aren't worried when we drop her off that she might get seriously hurt when we leave. Please look at the state childcare website. There are over 30 complaints on this place!

Southern shops daycare passed with flying colors in every aspect that I could research online! So my wife and I signed up our almost 2 year old to attend. At first he would cry when I would drop him off in the morning. As I expected. But within a few minutes of standing outside, his crying stopped. And I could peak through the window to see him start playing with the other kids. When I would pick him up he was always very happy. And after a while he started to hug the ladies that were caring for him goodbye for the day. This told me that my hours apon hours apon days, and weeks of researching daycares paid off in excellent childcare for my son Hunter. He would still be going here if covid had not forced them to close because of low enrollment. I'm putting this review because they earned it! I'm not the type to give respect till it's earned. And all the ladies and 1 man earned my respect a million times over for caring for my son like he was one of their own!!! My next part of my review is for any other daycare looking for top notch childcare employees. If you see on an application that they worked at southern shops daycare..... look no further, you have found the perfect person for the job! Just hire them! So were to start with this so called daycare, from first glance it looks like a normal house turned…read moreinto a daycare, but then you drive to the back drop off area were you can view the so called play area with 3 yard toys and at no time during the 2 month of my grandchildren going there did I ever see children out play that should have been my first red flag. Then the door to were the children are kept is broken and hangs off the hinges Really. In the 3-4 times I pick them up for my daughter the caregiver seemed nice enough but I always got that un easy feeling because of the broken door that still had not been fix and that the room was dark and you never could see inside and were not aloud inside due to covid 19 Red flag #2. Then my granddaughter the youngest started to act out at home and complaining of one of the caregivers ( using that word loosely) was been me to her. My daughter ask this person was my granddaughter getting in trouble and she stated she was having some temper tantrums but just time out. to make a long story short after 2 month we found out that this person stabbed my granddaughter in the head with the pen point 8 times making her scape bleed and puncher wound all over her head, this is under investigation as well as the daycare. But be aware even thought the police , DSS and we were told she was fired from this daycare she is still employed there we recently found out. This person also punched my granddaughter in the stomach causing her to throw up. They are currently being investigated for not change the baby's diaper enough, security issues with that broken door, the abuse issue with my granddaughter and not enough employees per ratio with the children. The caregivers name I will not give out for the police and DSS are in a active investigation. please don't take you children there and if there there get them out.

Some of staff are smokers and it reeks on them which is unprofessional and my kids are not used to being around that smell. The only good thing about this place is that it is affordable, which is unfortunate for people that cannot afford better care.
