My daughter is finishing up her first week at La Petite and, so far, I am raving about them…read more My little girl is about to turn 3, and this is the first time she's been in any sort of preschool environment. Up until now, we've been fortunate enough to have my husband or I staying with her. But, with my husband starting a new job, we weren't able to make it work anymore. I found La Petite through a corporate partnership with my job, and I toured a couple of the facilities in the area before settling on this location. At a trial day at one of the other locations, my daughter came home and told me "I cried because I missed you and that made my teacher mad. She said 'NO NO'." Now, I'm sure that the teacher wasn't yelling at her, necessarily, but I didn't like that my daughter perceived that as the reaction to her being upset, so we decided to keep looking. After her first day with Ms. Ashley, she didn't have a single bad thing to say. She did tell me "I cried because I missed you" and I asked "was the teacher nice?" and she said "Oh yes, she made me happy". She went on and on all that afternoon about all the fun things she did throughout the day and all her new friends. Ms. Ashley made me a laminated scrapbook with a bunch of pictures from her first day and answered all my questions, all while juggling 10 toddlers. During a break, she gave me a personal call to update me on how the day was going, which made an amazing impression on me. I had called several times to check in throughout the day, and the fact that she took the time to call me personally was really, really appreciated. She told me that my daughter didn't want to nap, and that she kept asking to have her back rubbed, so Ms. Ashley told me "...So I rubbed her back for about 5 minutes and she was out like a light". She took the time to give my daughter the personal attention that she really needed on her first day away from her momma and daddy, and that is so special to me. The morning drop off is still a little tough, but Ms. Cyndi, the director, does a great job of calming her down and settling her in. Also, Cyndi is always happy to keep me updated or go check on my daughter when I call throughout the day. I can't explain how tough it is to go from knowing what's going on in every moment of your child's life and being in control of her entire day, to putting all your trust in someone new. Everyone at this location has made us feel welcome and safe. They keep me updated and answer all my questions. I have walked in at random times throughout the day and never have I seen behavior from the teachers that made me feel uncomfortable. I'm excited for her to be in this new learning environment and I couldn't be more pleased with our experience so far. I would highly recommend this location to anyone!

It feels deeply connected to the community and genuinely invested in each child and family--not a place where you ever feel like just a weekly paycheck. From the very beginning, the staff took time to get to know my child before their first day, asking about likes, dislikes, and personality during the meet-the-teacher event. The teachers and administration were consistently warm, communicative, and present. Daily updates through the app were thorough, and on the rare occasion of an incident, I received prompt communication and personal follow-up, which made me feel supported and respected as a parent. Classroom transitions were handled with so much care and intention, making the process smooth and stress-free for my child. When our family had to move unexpectedly due to an emergency, the compassion and support we received from the teachers and leadership meant everything. This especially matters for those parents who don't have the option to stay home. Goddard cares more about their families and teachers than dollars. Every teacher knows your child's name regardless if they're the assigned teacher. Students leave learning something wondrous every day, and they also leave feeling loved and have a since of belonging. At Goddard, you're a part of a family. Thanks for this jump start to a lifetime of learning. This school has an effective approach to homework. Homework is beyond sending worksheets home, but instead, teachers implement a hands-on, interactive approach to learning. The curriculum and teachers encourage practical applications of learning while having fun. It's nice to have conversations with my child about ignite critical thinking without being a drill sergeant. Teachers at this school are effective. Teachers are all educated and have a previous, developed early childhood experience. They are not glorified babysitters. More recently, in light of COVID, the owners and staff at TGS executed an effectively solid plan to continue fun while learning and while keeping the children safe. They are out-of-the-box thinkers who care about the teachers, parents, and most importantly, the students.

I don't care what political spectrum you are, or your beliefs, we should all agree that an adult in power should protect the students from not just outside threats but to real, life ruining, trauma inducing, bullying that happens inside the school and Susan Brown failed. She failed as an admin, she failed as an adult in school, she failed as a protector, and she failed at being a kind person. Looking on greatschools you will find multiple other reports that bullying is a major problem at this school and the teachers turn a blind eye to bullying both physical bullying and verbal bullying because it's up to the admins to administer punishment, and you know what person shouldn't be at the head of this? I'll tell you, an admin who doesn't care about the bullying. I would also like to bring to light that i believe she didn't care about my boyfriend being called the f slur because of her political belief.

I'm sincerely grateful for the strong academic and personal skills, confidence, poise, and independence my children developed in their years there. FOA has struck a perfect balance between being academically challenging but completely supportive. Truly one-of-a-kind. My only complaint is that they only go through eighth grade, but I know my kids were well-prepared to continue to thrive in high school.
