The man working that we encountered wasn't very friendly. He got us all bikes and didn't say anything so we weren't sure if we were allowed to go or not. We also accidentally left our speaker on the bike and came back for it 2 minutes later and it seemed like they were trying to keep it, which was weird. This was our first purchase at eddy's and feel very lucky we had Frank as our salesman. He is very knowledgeable and has a lot of experience with bikes and saved me from buying the wrong size frame. I thought my wife needed an XL frame based on the Trek website but he took the time to measure and try 2 different frame sizes and explained why she needed a medium frame. Great service. I love going to Eddy's, they have great service and surprisingly great prices too. Typically in the past I've gone to the one in Fairlawn, but decided to go to this one instead since it was closer to where I moved. I still got the same great service. I saw some posts about sales people being pushy, I didn't get that vibe at all. I believe the name of the guy I talked to was Alex. When I told him that I was going to do the work myself but just needed the parts he was totally fine with that. He recommended that I let him transfer my cassette since it needed a special tool, and I was happy that he did, because I didn't have that tool and it would have probably taken me hours to figure it out (it only cost an extra $6). I bought two new wheels for only $50 a piece, which I thought was a great deal, I expected it to be much more. He recommended I look into getting new tires, but did not try to push a sale on me at all. Overall, I thought he provided great customer service, and that along with their reasonable prices, is the reason I will keep coming back to Eddy's. read more

And if you buy a bike Here you can get it ANYWHERE ELSE for $100-$300 cheaper. I would suggest Marty's bike shop just a couple minutes down the road. Just purchased my 4th and 5th bike from Eddy's. Customer service has been excellent. Laid back, no pushy sales. They also provide a great fit service. I have learned quite a bit chatting with the knowledgeable sales folks. I traded in bikes one and two we purchased and felt we got a fair price for the miles and years since purchased. They offer both pre-owned and new bikes. As with new bikes the prices range quite a bit. From around 400$ for a entry fitness bike new to 7,000 for a high end road or triathlon bike. I went in today with a budget and a fuzzy idea of what I wanted/needed. The sales associate Chris took the time to listen to me and fit me in the perfect bike. I am recently working through a hip injury and he took the time to watch me ride to ensure the bike fit me and would prevent any future injury. Other bike shops I visited didn't even take the time to ask about injuries and truthfully I would not have thought to mention. Selection is really good in the Stow location, sure you can pay $20 less for a lower end bike somewhere but buy the good brands since they last. Plus you get, at least, 50% back when you sell a Trek or Specialized bike on ebay/craigslist, etc. Off brand bikes you do not, consider that when buying a bike. I was willing to drop $600 on a bike for my wife and let her and the salesman work it out. When she showed me the bike he recommended it was way too big for her. The salesman said it fit perfect. Of course when I asked to have her try the size smaller, we learned he was full of it. They had sold out of all sizes smaller and didn't have any at other locations. My credit card statement clearly shows Eddys Bike Shop in Stow for the amount of the one item that was purchased one month ago but they will not return it for credit-just store credit-meaning I have to buy something. Customer satisfaction does not exist here. Don't get your 30 day tune up you'd be better off watching youtube vids to fix it. They de tuned my 2 grand road bike. My gears shifted like crap after they were done with it. They were just generally very reluctant to do anything. Some of the sales people are really awesome and will even go to crazy lengths to help you but the manager types have the final say and won't really work with you if you have a problem with any of your items. My bike came with marks on the top tube so I asked them to file a claim with specialized to see what they could do, after specialized told me that they would gladly look into it once they filed it. They were extremely reluctant to do anything about it, and just gave me condescending pretentious run downs about how it was normal. I bought clip in pedals that would clip out and made rusty noises even when full tension was engaged. What they offered me was, no returns, and awkward interactions post that confrontation. Just general shrugs, basically I felt uncomfortable even being in the store, there was a very negative atmosphere, they did not keep the spirits up. This store is more about profit margins than about actually helping customers get the right fit. read more

Pushy sales people. I was interested in buying a road bike to compete in a couple sprint triathlons and the sales person kept pushing for me to purchase a top of the line bike that was $2000. I insisted that I didn't need a bike that was going to cost an arm and a leg that I was only planning on doing a few events. The sales person was more interested in selling me the most expensive bike rather than helping me find a good fit in my comfort zone. Won't buy another bike here! I bought a Specialized Rockhopper Comp, Mountain Bike for my wife here 12/22/2017 on sale for $780. She was riding it up a hill and the chain broke. I took it back to Eddy's and was told since it was over a year old it was not warrantied. I was also told, it happens a lot, the chains are supplied by the lowest bidder on these bikes. The employee in service pointed out the owner and told me to talk to him and let him know I was unhappy about the chain breaking on a bike which supposedly had better components. The owner was friendly till I started to tell him about the chain, he just turned around without saying anything and walked away. I guess he only talks to you if you are buying something. I was suprised to be treated this way, I was not being rude or loud, or asking for a free chain, just wanted to let him know what happened, my wife could have been hurt if it had been a steeper hill. The manager came over and said the chain was not a low end chain, even though 2 of his employees had just told me it was. I can understand them not wanting to warranty the chain, I would have been impressed if they did with the bike being a over a year old. I just could not believe the way the owner treated me. read more

The value of a LBS (local bike shop) is based solely on the services they offer, versus buying online where you can get a same spec'ed bike, if not better spec'ed, for $50-$100+ less. For this reason I rate Eddy's Bike Shop in Stow 2 stars out of 5. Here is why: The only good thing I can say about Eddy's is that every new bike you buy from them has a 30-day checkup and life time adjustment for free. The other LBS in the area, Marty's, doesn't even offer the lifetime adjustment (it is like $50 a year for Marty's, but of course that covers a lot more services. Eddy's free program is rather basic). Still, I think this alone is worth at least a $50 price premium. However, when you go to Eddy's you gotta remember these words: buyer beware. Do a lot of research online and then research some more. DO NOT be shy of asking to test ride a lot of bikes. When in doubt, always go a size smaller and/or trust your own feelings and what your body tells you. I made the most expensive purchase in my life at Eddy's. And what a mistake it was, all thanks to one of their "knowledgeable staff" that will supposedly help you pick out the "right size" and "fit" you for the bike. I was purchasing my first ever road bike. There were cheaper options online but I went to Eddy's for the services that a good LBS is expected to offer. The bike costed $1600, not too much on the grand scale of road bike prices, but as a poor college student back then, $1600 equaled a semesters board plan, plus the costs of all the expensive business textbooks. Of course, I did all the research I could online, and knew that I fell between either a 52cm or a 54cm sized frame. I went for test rides and was even fitted on a stationary bike. But they only had a 54cm for the bike I wanted - they'd have to order it from Cannondale for a 52cm Caad9 5. The staff at the time, who shall remain nameless (it doesn't matter anyway, he no longer works there and I can see why.), was really pushing for the 54CM size. He was saying how if I went to 52cm I would have to get a longer stem and a seatpost that has a farther back clamp, and how the 52cm would just be too small. He was absolutely sure I would get used to the larger frame in no time. I listened to him because a) that's why I was at a LBS - for the knowledgeable advises. b) he watched me fitting on a stationary bike and was a road biker himself. It is 3 years later now - I still have not gotten used to the larger frame. Clearly the salesman was just pushing for the 54CM because the 2011 models were coming in soon and they were trying to get rid of the 2010 stock. I regret every time I look at my bike, that I should have went with my own guts and feelings. I am always wondering how comfortable it would be to ride, if my bike was 52CM or even 50CM. My regret toward the bike plus the discomfort when riding it have given me aversion to riding my $1600 bike. I will actually have to buy a shorter stem, shorter reach handlebar, or convert the bike to a flatbar roadie. This was a very expensive lesson. And I will say again what I wish someone would have said to me before I bought that bike: when in doubt, go with your gut feelings/what your body tells you, or just go with the smaller size. Smaller size gives you better control, more flexibility, and more explosive power. Larger bike may give you better stability but it means nothing if you are already uncomfortable on the larger bike to begin with. Now, the advantage I described in the beginning is the reason why I returned to Eddy's this summer to purchase another bike. (Specialized Vita). So far I am very happy with the bike, although that has got nothing to do with Eddy's - I did my own research and knew what I was looking for. And I was not about to be fooled into buying an inappropriately sized bike just because they didn't want to order the right one. I spent a good 2 hours there talking to this one staff. He was very patient, friendly, and non-pushy... but I felt like he wasn't too knowledgeable either, that if I didn't do my research or learned my lessons before, I could've bought the wrong bike. Most of Eddy's staff is quite friendly, and I have to disagree with the other reviewer saying they are aggressive - I'm sure the second salesman in the reviewer's story was just making sure they were being helped. read more

Extremely convenient location and friendly atmosphere helps but it is the service department that has really had me maintain my loyalty. You always want to buy a bike from a local shop so that they can service your bike and take care of every upgrade, repair, and question you may have. Once you have a working relationship with these folks you will never want to risk going elsewhere. Reliable, dependable service and honest advice ... I have really appreciated these traits from them over the years. A lot of people seem to shy away from this store because it is fairly big. Let me just say that the bigger selection does not make this a big "box store". Everyone at this store ENJOYS BIKING. They want to make your experience pleasant and do not try to sell you stuff you don't need. Today, Mac (Chris McMaster) went above and beyond to make sure that I was taken care of. I highly recommend Eddy's. You cannot go wrong. Let me give you a couple of examples of their service: 1. Me: "Do you think I need a different saddle?" Mac: "Now that the bike fits you better, I don't think you will need one. Try it out for a few rides first." 2. Me: "I am planning on getting new tires soon just to make sure I don't get a flat during an upcoming race." Mac: "You can easily make it through your race on these tires. Just bring the bike in before the race to be sure." I truly appreciate the honest, excellent customer service from all of the people that have helped me! read more

I have a long history of going to Eddies in Stow OH. My parents bought my first bike for me there when I was about 5, and I just bought my most recent bike at age 30. I am pretty disappointed in my most recent encounter with them. I dropped my bike off 2 days ago to get service done on it. While I was there I told the service rep that I wanted an odometer installed. He told me about one of the odometers they offer and that the price was $40. I said great I'll take one of those. He said no problem. He then quotes me for the service and install at $160. I said great assuming that the odometer was included in that price. He did not go over the breakdown of the cost with me or we probably would have caught the issue then. He also told me that my bike would be done no later than the following afternoon. The next day rolls around and no call. I end up calling the day after that asking about whether the service was done, and the man on the phone said yea it's been ready to pick up since yesterday. I go to pick it up and pay and realize there is no odometer on the bike. The guy then tries to sell me an odometer for $40 when I already assumed that was part of the $160 I just paid. Total lack of communication from what the $160 included, and total lack of communication with me in regards to my bike being done serviced and ready to be picked up. Otherwise they have been great but I'm hesitant to ever go back. read more

So for the last couple weeks I have looking to buy a new road bike. I searched and searched and found a wonderful bike at Eddy's Bike Shop. I called the shop, made sure they had it in stock, and asked for it to be sent to the closest store to me (Still about 80 miles away) so I could come and buy it. I was excited and ready to 5-star this entire experience. Unfortunately, As I was starting my travels today, I got a call from the store saying that the bike that was reserved for me ( I was told it had my name on it) was sold to someone else. Now when a bike is supposedly reserved for someone to come buy it, why would it be sold to someone else? I am still giving two stars because of the two guys that were very willing to help me locate a bike and put the pieces in place for me to buy it. Otherwise, I would try to give a zero for this experience. Now I have a bad taste in my mouth for this company, and now have to restart my research for a bike I was ready to purchase. If you like biking and dont know much about it, they can help you with setting up your own personal bike. First, i have to say shame on me for not shopping around and getting an idea of cost. With that being said, I went to eddy's to repair a bike. It needed a rear derailleur, brakes and gear adjustment. They charged $200.00 for that amount of work, also, he wanted to charge me an additional $50.00 for brake cables that weren't needed. They had a brown dusting of rust from sitting in the shed for a number of years, but were not in need of replacement. So, i picked the bike up which was done in a timely manner. Took it home and went riding. The gears weren't adjusted correctly, it doesn't want to go into the lowest gear: what really set me off though was when i really started to get a good look at it i noticed the derailleur they put on was used. Why am i being charged $200.00 if used parts are going to be used that they're pulling out of the scrap box in some back room. After that i figured i would start doing my own tune ups and repairs. I went to another bike shop for parts for my daughters bike. It needed new brakes as well, and a brake cable. Imagine my surprise when he told me the cable would be $12.00. He told me that was pretty much an industry standard, between the cost of the cable and for him to do the work was $25.00. Needless to say, Eddy's bike shop will never be in my or my family's future. They totally took advantage of my ignorance and overcharged me. I'm mad at myself for being stupid but I'm also mad at them for taking advantage of me. I assumed a place like eddy's that has been there as long as i can remember must have integrity or they wouldn't have lasted this long....I was wrong. I do not recommend them for anything. Do yourself a favor and do your homework before you go anywhere near them. Better yet, shop someplace else and save money. The prices i found at a different shop were substantially less and of equal quality. read more
