They replaced the exhaust but messed up the rest of my car! I had to return three times after as my engine light kept on coming on as I was driving and each time the mechanic admitted that it was his fault as he had not clipped the sensors back in! After the third time, I could feel my car dragging and my fuel was running down quicker than normal so I took my car to another garage for a diagnosis which cost me more money on top of the £250 that I had already paid to hi q and they advised me that the sensor clip that I had been shown by the mechanic at hi q which he had said that he had forgotten to clip back in was now broken! Took the car back to hi q and they called me a liar. I was in tears in the shop. The manager on duty was shouting at me. I had my kids in the car and all I wanted was for my car to work normally again. They made me feel like a criminal. I'd done nothing wrong but pay them for a service that was not fulfilled. Please do not go here, especially if you are a woman as I think they saw me as an easy target. My car still doesn't drive right now, they have supposedly fixed it. On an obviously very busy Friday afternoon. I was informed that it may take until the next Wednesday before the car could be assessed. By the next Wednesday, the car had been assessed (I suspect an engineer stayed late for this), the sizable part had been ordered, received and fitted. Communication was excellent,staring on Monday morning.I collected the car that afternoon, it had been thoroughly cleaned inside and out. I'd been using the car as a mobile skip as attics, sheds and gardens needed to be cleared out prior to moving house, so the vehicle was in bit of a state. Some moss was growing in places. I highly recommend Central Garages, the staff went above and beyond assessing and completing an unexpected job added to a full schedule. Many thank to Central Garages, Lichfield. We had many frank and honest conversations about the cost, whether worth doing to age of my car, the risk of further issues and for once I didn't feel patronised or talked down to because I was a woman. They tackled and sorted each problem in stages so I could evaluate costs/next steps and have done an excellent job. My 2012 SMAXX now drives beautifully and I feel assured that I've done the right thing spending money on it rather than investing in a new car. Absolutely disgusted with the service of the store manager at this branch, purchased a new battery…read morefrom them in August 2025 at the start of November 2025 I started to have faults showing up on the dash also low battery. After having around 6 different faults I thought something was amiss so I had a full diagnostics scan and also an auto electrician, every fault code was down to low voltage and the auto electrician confirmed the battery was faulty and not holding charge. So back to the halfords store I went with receipt in hand, I was served by a lovely young lady who came out and tested the battery, her findings were battery needs charging then retest, so she agreed there was a problem, possibly a dud cell. I followed the young lady back to the shop expecting a replacement battery. The battery was a Yuasa HSB100 with a 4 year warranty. The next thing man came out of the back room with the battery tester and said he wanted to test the battery, I explained that a young lady had already been out to my car and tested it & I gave him the little print out she gave me. He said he still wanted to do it, I asked why and he couldn't answer, so to save any disagreement I followed him out of the shop and he tested the battery, within 1 minute he said it's absolutely fine no problem at all, so then I tried to explain what I had already explained to the young lady about all the errors, diagnostics, auto electricians report etc to which he replied my machine says it's fine, after going back and forth for a good 30 minutes I asked why when the young lady tested it did it show a fault and within 15 minutes he tested it and he said it was fine? His first answer was she probably did it wrong, I said to him I don't think that is very professional telling me one of his staff had done it incorrectly and especially because she was a female, & I'm pretty sure all staff that had authority to test batteries would of been trained for insurance purposes. then I couldn't work out how he new she had done it incorrectly when he wasn't there? So I suggested maybe we could ask the young lady to show us how she had done it with both of us there, this he thought was funny and I asked why are you laughing at me, he said I'm fed up with going round in circles day in day out, eventually after more arguments he said he would get the young lady, so another 20 minutes as she was busy they both came over. The young lady connected the charger and he told her she had connected it incorrectly, she needed to connect to the other side of the nut & bolt on the battery terminal, she replied to him you're joking? He said no, at this point I said he is clutching at straws to which he started to laugh at me again, I asked him again please don't laugh at at me, the young lady had connected firmly to both terminals, there was no issue at all with how she had connected the tester & she did say this is how I always do it. The young lady then went and carried on with her work, at all times she was friendly polite and professional. Thank you for your response on 27/01/26 I have already gone through that channel of reporting the problems I had, but unfortunately no response at all which is aa shame as it's another bad mark against Halfords and it also shows that you are really not trying to sort the problem as quickly as possible. 29/01/2026 And still no response from customer services!! 07/02/2026 Finally a response from customer services they have requested a copy of the invoice from the auto electrician stating the battery was faulty and the diagnostic report feedback, I told them that I had to pay for that service to be carried out and they agreed to cover the cost of that providing the report states the battery is at fault, I think that a fair enough request from them, so I have supplied them with everything they have asked for and the invoice does state faulty battery. Unfortunately again after a further 3 emails from myself Halfords customer services have disappeared again, no email, no contact and no refund for the auto electrician & diagnostic report invoice I was told they would refund never mind the faulty battery this whole sorry saga is about.

MOT scammers! They…read morefailed my car on MOT for some bad bushings and tried to convince me that they are giving me a very good deal to fix it. I was suspicious, as the car was driving perfectly and the price seemed very high, considerring the price of the parts and the labour needed. Besides that, the car was fully serviced somewhere else about one month before the MOT, and the mechanics assured me it's in perfect condition. Since then, I barely used the car, so the chances for it to fail with a major defect were quite low. As a result, I took the car to another garage, which I trust, but is a bit far from where I live. I asked them to replace the defective bushings and MOT the car. Their answer was: "the bushings are fine and there is no way the car should fail MOT for this". At least they had a good laugh at the prices offered by DPR and their price was closer to what I thought it should be.

I was very impressed with Dan's honest and approachable attitude and the very reasonable price he charged me for the parts and work. My daughter is a uni. student and I'm glad she has a safe and reliable garage to go to in the future if she has a problem.
