That's right -- not ONE, not TWO, not THREE, not FOUR, not FIVE, but SIX WEEKS. I could have gotten a default judgment. My understanding, although not a NJ lawyer, is that this case management failure is malpractice. Damages are obviously another issue, but a cut and dry case of malpractice nonetheless. 2) Fees: They quoted $1,500, took that amount as a retainer, and charged me another $1900 on top of that. The additional fee might be warranted for competent legal counsel, however please see points 1 and 3. 3) Client communication: They did not communicate that they would be billing me an additional amount. When I asked them a fairly simple question about whether I needed a form, they responded with "I don't know" and billed me $50 for the pleasure of having them read that email, $50 for them to research that answer of pure legal genius, and $50 for responding to my email. It was a question that they should have known. 4) Firing them: When I tried to tell them I didn't want them to represent me, they continued to contact me and bill me, again for this distinct pleasure. My husband's lawyer (Corinne M. DeStefano) did a much better job in a much more timely manner for a much better rate.

This attorney initially filed a broad case which was to encompass all parties who were responsible for the torture which I endured. However the attorney made some serious errors in his broadscope filing which forced a portion of the case to be lost leaving only wrong doing conducted by some. Despite these errors and my repeated pleas for him to act upon my case he failed to do any work on the file until late 2024. This resulted in one of my witnesses dying without being deposed or getting us wrong statement from them. I have one remaining witness for which this attorney still has not gotten a sworn statement to this day as far as I know. I say as far as I know because this attorney has refused to communicate with me for many many months up until a letter I received in mid-January telling me what he felt like telling me regarding my case but not realizing that the date of his letter was already past the date of the filing deadlines for the submission of important evidence. If it wasn't for another attorney reviewing the case due to this attorney's non-communication I would not have found out about this error. This attorney then scrambled to get the filing deadline extended but at the same time has made clear that he has quit my case and if I communicate with him again he will have me charged with a crime. You will not give up the case to another attorney for any reasonable share of the fee and he will not account for his time which has caused the case to lose valuable remaining time. This attorney is the most unethical person in my opinion that I have ever met who holds the title of officer of the Court. I urge you to look up my Google review of this attorney. I will attempt to attach photos of his deplorable communications to this review. It is already posted on Google. The attached letter is dated January 15th 5 months after this attorney has broken off communication with me and 6 days past the filing deadline for the experts he described needing in this email. Additionally I signed the contingency fee agreement with this attorney were costs would be deducted from the award and this attorney is demanding tens of thousands of dollars from me in order to proceed with the case. In my opinion you need to look elsewhere for a more competent attorney who cares about you and your outcome.
