She took the time to teach us what we would encounter in the field and reviewed each task multiple times in their lab. I was extremely prepared for all exams. The passion that the staff (Phillipa and Rebecca) exude played a part in me enrolling, to continue my studies and get my HHA cert. They are available to answer any questions and take a keen interest in their students. I couldn't imagine having gone elsewhere to get my PCA.

A team of 2 to 4 students will work on you during your session. The students are supervised and I've always felt comfortable during treatments. I've had experiences with students ranging from just ok to transcendent, but never bad. This however is not a spa experience. As mentioned bellow, the large treatment room is sectioned off by several curtains and you will hear neighboring clients and students talking. I'm not personally bothered by this, but it may not suit everybody. The treatment areas are clean and well organized, the staff and students are caring and helpful. Some of the masters at Tri-State College of Acupuncture include Kiiko Matsumoto and Nigel Dawes. Often they will consult on your session or you may even have them treat you themselves in Grand Rounds. The Tri-State College of Acupuncture also has a herb clinic, ($30) to compliment your acupuncture treatments. Acupuncture and herb treatments from Tri-State College of Acupuncture have helped me tremendously! I highly recommend them.

I heard great things about Kumon, but this particular franchise was cold, the owner condescending and rude and the staff disengaged and unfriendly. We arrived for a scheduled assessment and introduction to Kumon. After waiting several minutes (where a staff person saw us but did not feel it necessary to greet or acknowledge us in any way so we stood awkwardly at the door unsure what to do) my daughter was called in and, without any introduction or explanation, was told to sit and take a test. The atmosphere was almost punitive. During the ten minute test, the 3 staff onsite were talking and laughing loudly. Perhaps they felt since they were speaking in a foreign language it would not be disruptive, but the level of disrespect for the kids trying to focus on their work was jarring. After her test, I was invited in to talk to the owner and discuss next steps for my child. There again no greeting, no explanation of the program, how Kumon works, how they can help. Kumico never bothered to even say hello or introduce herself. She did not ask any questions about my child, our goals, where she goes to school....just sat me down and told me that my child is 'confused' and 'very behind'. This place is not warm, not engaging, not friendly and while the Kumon system might work, I can't imagine sending any child here to feel good about themselves or be inspired to learn.

Not only did they prepare me to pass rigorous state board examinations to obtain​ my licensure,​ they also gave me the skills to become an effective clinician. In addition, the amount of patients that the student clinic sees is invaluable. Students get to treat a variety​ of patients with various​ ailments not seen in other student clinics and this preps them for the real world cases that they will eventually see in their practices. I highly recommend potential students that are seeking out schools for MT and/or acupuncture, to sign up at the NY College for an exceptional​ education in holistic medicine.
