Decided to go in on a whim because of the great yelp reviews but I soon realized those were either friends of the business or regulars. I called and made an appointment earlier that day and arrived 5 minutes early. Upon arrival I was greeted by a room of glaring eyes but not one greeting. I sat and waited for about 20 minutes before someone asked me if I had an appointment. I was taken back and the barber that I got was very nice but the haircut was really just ok. It was more like a trim than a cut and even after asking two time to go a little shorter it continued to look mediocre so I gave up and said it was fine. Tip: The cut was 30 dollars and cash only (not a complaint just a heads up) Overall if you're looking for a very campy and cliche barber shop this is it. read more

Visiting my in-laws with the family for Thanksgiving and my 8 year-old son needed a trim. We showed up on the Friday after the holiday wondering if the place was open. Much to my surprise, one of the barbers, Cesar, was hard at work. We asked if he had time to fit in my little man and he obliged. After a short wait watching college football he gave my son a great haircut. It was clean, precise, and Cesar was efficient. You never know how a child might be with a "new guy" cutting his hair, by my son was happy and comfortable. Cesar's a good guy and great barber. Back in college I got my hair cut at luis's barber shop on main st. After college I moved out of Merced for work. After about 2 years I returned to Merced for a new job. I got back to town and heard some of the guys from Luis's had opened up their own place on Yosemite ave. Clean place. 8 barbers working, waited 45 minutes and didn't get seen. Make an appointment (if they do that), or expect to wait a while.

I started taking my son here as a walk in when he was one. I jumped from a couple of barbers until Johnny cut his hair. I've been taking my son to him for a over a year now. I walked in to this place and was told I would be right with you. They never acknowledged me after that except to give me a side eye. I sat waiting for an hour and finally had to leave after a mother and her kids came in and they said they would be unable to fit them in. I stood up and asked them why they had not informed of this for the hour I had been sitting there. They made the lame excuse that they thought the younger guy that walked in when I did was my son. Even though we never looked at each other or spoke to each other and look nothing alike. They did have a sign that said there will be long wait for walk ins but a hour seems pretty long of a wait to me. read more

Best barber shop in town! Make sure to book an appointment otherwise be ready to wait a long time! (Waited 2.5 hrs). They offer best service in town hands down (free drinks, free wifi, and always playing football on tv!). I was recommended by a friend after Legendary Klips messed up my haircut.
