Our kitty Star is on a special diet and I needed a script in order to get it from Chewy. at the same time, she needed her script filled for her thyroid medication. trying to deal with Florida vet, plus get her script for her meds, we hit a brick wall. I decided to go to our local vet and ask for help. In steps Amanda from South Portland Veterinary Hospital. she was able to get me a script for her food with three refills and also a 100 day supply for her meds. They advised me to put him on a diet, which I did. He went from 24 pounds to 15. He was so energetic and happy. Then he went downhill. Fast. He suddenly started throwing up and refusing to eat. I took him to an emergency vet and then Lake Region called, wanting me to bring him in 2 days later. I didn't know that I was going to go home without my best friend of 15 years that day. He was worse than I thought. They advised me to put him to sleep. My heart was broken. Then Dr Andrine made it a thousand times worse by demonstrating what his breathing would be like if he was a human and chastising me for how much weight he'd lost! When I tried to explain he'd lost weight over time, she didn't listen to me. I already felt guilty and devastated and she made me feel so much worse. My dog has been gone 2 months and I have those horrible moments in my memory of when I said goodbye to him and I cry my eyes out. It was unnecessary. While I am grateful for their past help with the Cushings disease, I found a new vet when I got a new puppy a few weeks ago. Dr Andrine should be more empathetic with grieving pet parents. She came across as extremely judgmental and seemed to blame me when I had spent over $100 every 5 weeks for his Cushings meds, put him on a diet and did everything I could to keep my previous little guy around for as long as possible. I loved my dog and did everything I could for him. While I'm sure it was just another day for her, this was one of the worst days of my entire life and she only made it worse.

And yes he was a pitbull. Not a mean Bone in his body. But when Dr. griffin listened & saw him. He determined his condition without any X-Ray or any blood tests or even a sonogram. When he got back into the room he looked at both my parents & I and said that he has fluid around his heart. By only listening without any X-Ray So we had to euthanize our family pet. I wanted a place that could help me check in on the care of my guinea pig, which a lot of places don't- this place does! I called for an appointment for my piggy Truffle, and they were friendly and set up an appointment for that same day. I was honestly glad to be taken seriously- guinea pigs are just as important as cats and dogs! It's a clean, organized space here with numerous doctors and very friendly staff at the front desk. I've had two vets here, and both have been knowledgeable, friendly, and understanding of all my pet related concerns. When Truffle had an infection, the vet was happy to prescribe him a medication that fit my budget and really did help improve his health. They are also great with pet emergencies. Truffle had a very bad infection, and they were able to see him within an hour. This is super important for stressed pet parents like me! Check ups can be a little pricey, but it's worth it because your pet is getting the best care. I'd recommend this vet's office to anyone. It is great.

It's hard for me to comprehend that this is what veterinary care has come to…read more I arrived at their door at approximately 2 PM with my German Shorthaired Pointer who had 30 minutes prior encountered a porcupine and suffered the resulting mouth full of quills and obvious stress and discomfort. The response from the vet was "we're just about to start our afternoon procedures and can't help". Stunned I asked "really, she has a mouth full of quills"... the reply: "we're sorry" I then drove another 25 minutes to the vet on Falmouth Foreside who admitted us and after administering a mild sedative removed the quills and discharged my pup 30 minutes later. I would never recommend Cumberland Animal Clinic to anyone. Hopefully the vet didn't have too hard a day and got home on time. Again, is this what small animal veterinary care has become?

They have often been able to squeeze me in last minute when necessary, I have never had to wait past my scheduled appointment time, the office is immaculate, and Dr. Lucas especially has gone above and beyond for me as veterinarian. My dog absolutely adores it there; there is no place he is more excited to be. This excitement results in a rather naughty, licky, and rambunctious pup, but the people at CAC love him anyway, handling his energy with compassion and skill. I feel that my dog recieves the best care possible, and that I am treated with fairness, kindness, and respect. After receiving treatment at CAC, I always receive a follow up call to check on my dog's progress. Una's medical care is better than my own! The "customer service" rep I spoke to was condescending, disrespectful & made no attempt to salvage our long standing relationship with this clinic. When I asked for valid reasons why the estimate had gone up, I was told "this is our policy" & that the original estimate was "probably wrong". When I asked for a call back from someone more knowledgeable who could explain/justify each increase on the higher estimate, that request was not honored. I was honestly shocked & hugely disappointed by this interaction as we have always had positive experiences with this clinic, but I have since been told that they are very expensive compared to other vets in the area & it truly seemed that they were just trying to make more money from my pets injury. Unfortunately, this negative experience coupled with no attempt to make this right has erased anything positive I could say. If cost or ethics are of no concern to you, then I highly recommend them, but if fair pricing & respectful customer service for you & your pet family members matter then you should go elsewhere. They've lost a loyal client.

We have a primary vet established but we've held off a visit until she had calmed down a bit; after about 6 weeks, she's just starting to come out and play and ask for love. As I was getting ready to head out the door, I noticed her eye was very inflamed in a way it was not the day before. I'm very calm in emergencies, except when it comes to my loved ones; then I'm a basket case. My vet said to go PetMedic so we called and they made an appointment for us immediately. We got in and they were so kind. I'm always worried I'm overreacting when it comes to my pet's health but they were so reassuring. Tiki was the calmest we've seen her, they were able to do all the tests in the room while I held her so she was comfortable. Dr. Armstrong and I believe the VT's name was Jessica were so very kind and patient with me and laid explained everything to us. I really did like how they broke down the bill. Emergent care is always going to be expensive, but honestly, our $615 was a lot lower than we were expecting for the tests run and the medications we received. They break down the bill to explain every single charge for you so you understand why it is what it is and it makes a lot of sense. I always said she would go quick. I made the hard call and within a few days they were out in our yard. They made the experience as peaceful as possible, and when I am losing my mind I just lost my girl, they had the greatest compassion and were there for the whole process.
