Going to this facility for over 25 years. Really like my PCP Had some chest pain and my PCP and I agreed on doing stress test. I had to go to Dr Whitaker, but I didn't had good experience. Not sure if she did stress test in depth. I felt I was rushed out. As she was raising the speed on thread mill it reached 3.4 and I had difficulty at 3.4 mph as my calf muscle is strained. I asked her if she can lower a speed a bit as I have issue with calf. she said either you need to ask to stop or go through it. She said you reached your max so it's your decision. I was just over 6 minutes on thread mill. I asked her to stop as I was in pain in my calf. Not sure why she couldn't lower the speed. I don't know if stress test was done in depth and with accuracy. So my internist retires and I'm looking for a new one. My daughter in-law and her son suggest their doctor (Dr. Chow) at the Edinger Med Group. They really like her. Great. I call the Edinger medical group to make an appointment. BTW I'm 80 years old. The girl asks me the usual questions re: insurance. I tell her I have Medicare and Blue Shield. She says I'm sorry, but we don't accept Medicare. Say what? She forwards me to someone who can explain why not. This gal tells me they deal with an outside company that offers something akin to Medicare. For $125/month. I already pay about that much for Medicare. I've been to at least 7-8 different doctors over the years (mostly at Hoag) and have never been told that Medicare wasn't accepted. So I wondered why. The gal on the phone wouldn't answer. After hanging up, I began to think. Just so you know, I follow what's going on in the politics of medicine. So I remember that some doctors, medical groups etc. don't like the amount Medicare reimburses them. There it is! A true sign of age discrimination! So if you're over 62, and you've signed up for Social Security, (you're automatically signed up for Medicare) don't bother trying to sign up with this ELITIST group! I recently signed up with this new medical group seeking a new PCP. At first, everything seemed great. They renewed my prescriptions and scheduled a physical. Fast forward to last week. I finally caught Covid. I am considered 'high risk.' My insurance company requires my PCP to provide prescriptions for any Covid treatments. I contacted the after hours emergency care line for Edinger medical and they sent me a link for Telehealth. After spending 20-30 minutes inputting my medical history (while very very sick), the link failed and sent me back to restart the process. Ultimately, it never worked for me. I had to wait until business hours to fix this. I contacted Edinger medical requesting an alternative. They indicated they would not help me (despite me being very sick and high risk for complications with Covid) and that I either used the link they provided or contact my insurance carrier. I explained my insurance carrier would not allow me to seek treatment outside of my PCP or the Emergency Room. Despite my pleas for assistance, they refused to assist me. I was told if the link did not work they would do nothing further for me. I am stunned at the beaurocratic lack of caring by the staff and medical group. You should look for a PCP group that cares about it's patients, avoid this one. When I am healthy again, I'll be looking for a new primary care physician. read more

On the surface, a group of professionals, trained at elite universities (UCLA, etc.), but horrible about actually caring and helping to educate the patient adequately. Primarily care mostly for their own reputation. If you make any critical comments, they connect you to a professional apologist on their staff who at first gives you the opportunity to vent, then informs" you.of "how rare" it is for them to receive negative reviews. They only want to increase their collection of "fanboys/girls" who laud them with superlatives. When confronted with this observation, the "Executive Director of Business and Patient Relations" then cuts you off, talking over you and tries to make you feel as if you are merely an anomaly, disposable and "in the minority". Personally, I'm anxious to find an outfit that is more compassionate, and less snooty. Highly paid self-promoters, basically. One doctor told me frankly that if I did not see a dentist about a dental problem, she did not want to continue to offer me medical assistance. They have no compassion for those less financially well-off than themselves, in that respect. read more

I was very please to see everyone wearing masks with multiple signs that stated masks required. They also asked for me to bring my vaccine card. This was my first visit just to get entered as a new patient with new insurance. After some problem with phone communication Tanya was an angel getting my first appointment. Nurse Sky was thorough with new patient intake info & Nurse Practitioner, Jeannie Lam, was thorough & very helpful getting a physical therapy referral for my swollen knee. The front office was professional & waiting area was well maintained. I was seen @ my appointment time. Then as I left a tote bag with personnel information, a pen & stress balls was presented to me. The only glitch was my fault...I forgot to ask for a new referral required by my insurance for my cardiologist & I need refills on my prescriptions. read more

Really appreciate the new check-in process. When you walk in you just go to the machine, put in your information and you can even make your copayment. First doctor appointment with this group . Had some hiccup with the insurance but able to make an appointment without difficulty . Called to made an appointment on Wednesday and Dr. Hembree able to see me in two days.I love the update and reminder via the text. When arrive to the office , I texted the office and waited in the car . Then they let Patient in one by one . So there is only one patient in the lobby at the time and equipment is sanitized in front of me . I feel pretty safe. Just a quick update on this very convenient Edinger Medical Group location. I have been coming here for years and have gone to the one in FV at Talbert as well. This year is an awkward one due to the COVID-19. With all the protocols in place it is so much harder to just go to the doctors office for anything. You really have to be prepared and organized and perhaps somewhat savvy with the online communications that are so prevalent today. Yes, you need a computer or a tablet or a smart phone to reach out. We wanted to get our 2020 flu shot in September and we were pleasantly surprised to be able to do so on the very first day that shots were available. We preferred going to the Beach office because there is ample close by parking and even with the new rules in place, it was easy to get checked in and quickly called for the procedure. It makes it all worthwhile to have made the appointments. The staff and the nurse were friendly and our flu shot was administered without any fuss. Don't waste your time.. I am not sure who they have answering the phones these days, but I have never been treated so rudely before at any physicians office. Sounds like they don't want business or insurance money. I really hate posting negative reviews, but I hope the physicians in the office read this review, so they can understand why they're lacking patients - since nobody can get through to them. She was able to help me with several health concerns for me and my loved ones and offers a welcome gentle but astute and helpful advice and direct approach without putting me in a category and pre deciding that I'm a hypochondriac . My doctor went on sabbatical so I ended up seeing a nurse practitioner for my yearly physical. She not only neglected to include an order for A1C for my blood test but she also told me I should lose weight looking at my BMI. I was so disappointed she chose to judge me without asking me questions. When I got my results she her recommendation was to work out 30 minutes a day to lower my numbers. If she took time to talk to me or maybe listen when I told her I was power lifting and I already worked out 6 days a week then I wouldn't have felt this appointment wasnt a total waste of time. Ive had better experiences with doctors but it's difficult to get appointments with them. Time for me to move on after this appointment. read more

Dr. Yu is amazing. She takes the time to explain what she's thinking, and coordinate the best direction for your injury and recovery. A lot of other doctors walk in and tell you what they're going to do. Dr. Yu walks in, explains what she's thinking, deliberate with you. Then together you reach a prescription plan. It feels very specific your injury/illness at the time. Bottom line, she tells you the good and the bad and you together choose what you want to do. read more
