Edison Beach House on the beach!!
    Jenn B.

My husband and I spent the last week at Edison Beach House, even though a lot of hotels, restaurants and shops either didn't make it through or haven't been repaired since Hurricane Ian went through with such destruction, Edison Beach House was recovering and taking reservations. We luckily had a room with ocean front views which are beautiful!! Staff was terrific, very friendly, elevator working, pool not repaired yet but with high 80's you have the gulf in front of you!! We had a full kitchen, which I only used for breakfast and it was totally great going home from a vacation with no dirty clothes since a washer and dryer was in unit too!! Wonder week at Edison Beach House!!!

I haven't even been here 24 hours and that's all the time I need to put in a review. Maybe it's because we haven't been able to travel for well over a year because of Covid, or maybe this place is just what I needed in general, but I'm sold. Yes, the rooms are dated, honestly they look like my grandmother's house and the bedspreads are literally identical to the ones she had. This is not a con for me. I think it gives the place character, charm, and personally it made me smile when I walked in. The room has anything a couple could need for a week right on the beach. Great size, full kitchen, 12 cup coffee pot, Instacart available to order groceries and booze, and close to the action of the square. Leaving Kansas with inches of snow on the ground, after a day of cancelled and delayed flights, and ending up on our balcony here listening to the waves at 11 p.m. with canned wine from 7-11 in hand (it's across the parking lot and very convenient), was the perfect end to a less than amazing day. Having laundry in unit is one of the biggest perks for me on vacation so it's a win there, too. I will update if anything goes south over the next several days, but so far, I'd definitely book here again. Update* After a week here, I don't ever want to leave. The awesomeness I felt upon arrival never went away, it's the perfect spot, perfect location, and perfect view. We will be back in Sept

I absolutely love this charming beach hotel. The staff is incredibly friendly - you can tell they actually want to help! The view and location are gorgeous, and the rooms are clean and spacious. Located just off the main drag with direct beach access, but still quiet at night. Hard to beat. Will definitely be back.

This is a photo of the dryer we had. We had to clean out the sand and seashells before using it.

Usually I would love to recommend this place because my family and I have been coming to this place at least once every year, and Sometimes more then that. They usually have nice clean rooms and if you pick a balcony room you can see a view of the beach and the swimming pool below. But as for this time we didn't have a good experience at all. For our reservations they gave us an option between the 2nd and 4th floor so we picked the 4th floor and when we checked in we got the 2nd floor. And when we told someone during check out they told us that they wouldn't ever do anything like that. Our hotel room: The dryer had seashells and sand inside it before we used it. So we had to clean out the dryer before using it. And at night time there was was a cockroach near the bottom front side of the dishwasher. Towards night time: My family went for a walk so I was the only one in the room and we ended up getting a random knock on the door and when I answered the door it was a security woman with dark brown or black hair who was supposedly knocking on several doors down our hallway and asking people if they could close their blinds near the balcony doorways because of turtle hatching season. Which is a bit odd because the room I was in we didn't really have any lights on besides the kitchen light which wasn't even near the balcony. But I closed the blinds for her. Anyways my family ended up coming back and they invited me for a walk and I told them about the security guard and the blinds needing to be closed. And we noticed outside that people had flashlights on the beach and other hotels had their lights on including the hotel we were at which had a light near the walkway outside but it just wasn't a bright light. So when we got back upstairs from our walk my family wanted to sit on the porch so we just kept the door partly open and then we got another knock on the door and when I answered it it was the same security lady who then told me that " I already told you that you had to keep your blinds closed" and then I told her I was alone during the first time she told me and that my family was here with me this time but I'll let them know. And she then told me if I didn't keep them closed then she could talk to wild life or someone who was higher up then her who could talk to us about it. So I said no that's fine and then I told my family when she left and we ended up closing the blinds and going to bed. As for overall: I don't think we will be staying here again in the future. I thought the security guard was rude to me about the blinds needing to be closed. And also we were never told about our blinds needing to be closed during night time when we were checking in to the hotel. Maybe you guys should hand out a paper about it during check in or tape a paper against the glass doorway near the balcony or something so more people know about it. And also I think it's a bit odd that you guys don't have any actual staff at night time like during the day time. But yeah I think we will stay somewhere else next time.

Construction equipment all over the parking lot nowhere to park

This hotel is still going through construction. They start at 7:15 in the morning and don't stop till 7:00 at night. Balcony rooms all you smell is their equipment exhaust and hear it. The rooms have ants. Not all the TVs work in the rooms. Parking is ridiculous because there's nowhere to park with them having a huge construction dumpster. When they are told about it they just shrugged their shoulders with a smile and say sorry. When I reserve this room I was not knowing that the pool was not operational. Was told they were working on it. This was 3 weeks before my reservation. Then when I checked on it again upon seeing that the elevators and the pool were out they informed me that it was still being worked on but now the elevators were fine but the pool was still being worked on and if I cancel they would charge me $100 the room was only 260 and the cancellation after the 24th of September was $399. This would be a good hotel when it's finished being constructed but until then it needs to be taken off the market. I feel I was taking advantage of.

One of my favorite places we have ever stayed! They had everything I could think of, from extra laundry detergent, to a scale, to every dish we needed. The hotel staff was an A+, we could not get over how friendly everyone was! The beach was beautiful, peaceful, clean, and within walking distance to good shopping and eating. We enjoyed every minute and hope to come back and stay here again.

Early morning view from a smaller side "B"suite balcony, 4th floor.

The Edison Beach House is a quaint, comfortable boutique/suite style hotel that is a great value for the money. The hotel is located right on the beach and all rooms have an ocean view. The bigger, more expensive rooms directly face the beach, while the cheaper ones provide a still nice, but more side-oriented view of the beach along with some of the townscape. All rooms are like studio apartments, appointed with everything you could possibly need and then some. They have thought of EVERYTHING here! Not only do you get a kitchen, washer/dryer combo, living area, and private balcony, but even the little things are included-- standard toiletries, of course, but also dish and laundry soaps, full size bath bars, dishes and cookware, down to rubber bands, scissors, and paper clips. We stayed during Xmas time and each room even had a lighted Christmas tree! Rooms, hallways, main areas, and the property in general were very clean and tidy. Staff were very friendly. The owner lives on the top floor so I imagine that he has a vested interest in keeping the property in great condition and ensuring guest satisfaction. Prices are also very reasonable and clearly listed, unlike many hotels where prices are negotiable. If you want to visit Estero Island in comfort without the hassle of renting a house, the Edison is a great option.

View from our 4th floor room balcony. Magnificent.

The managers were so attentive and every time we passed by checked in on us to see what activities we had done or suggest new activities for us to do. We loved the kayaking and paddle boards - also rented jet skis 2 separate days. Getting day passes for additional guests was super easy. Love the ease of the bracelets doing everything, being the key, room charge, proof we belong - super easy for everyone to keep track Of! The complimentary breakfast was "ok" nothing spectacular, but still decent. The guy who collected the towels by the pool (seemed like a manager/lead) was rude every single day - to the point we waited to take our towels back a few times to avoid another interaction. We will definitely be back!

The entire area was clean, right on the beach, and the staff was friendly everywhere we went. The resort offers a ton of amenities: free kayaks, bikes, paddleboards, lounge chairs, and umbrellas. They also have paid options like fishing charters and other nearby excursions. There are three pools total -- two family pools and one adults‑only pool -- plus a couple of hot tubs. Our room was amazing. We were on the first floor with a perfect view of the beach. The adults‑only pool was right in front of our balcony, so we could relax, listen to the music, or join the trivia games happening throughout the day. The room itself was spacious and included a kitchenette with a stove, which made it easy to cook if we wanted to. You can stay busy here or do absolutely nothing -- we chose the "chill" route. There are two restaurants and a bar on the property, but if you want more options, you can walk about 15-30 minutes (rough estimate) or drive 2 mins (fyi paid parking) to the main strip with plenty of shops and restaurants. The front desk also told us about a trolley that runs for $0.75 each way or $2.00 for an all‑day pass. Everything was close by, we didn't get in our car until it was time to head home. We'll definitely be coming back. It's a little on the pricier side, but with everything included -- and probably more that I'm forgetting -- it's absolutely worth it.

It was noticeably quieter, the pool felt cleaner, and there was much less hustle and bustle. The room itself was comfortable and met my expectations. The beds were comfortable, the pillows were just right, and the view was enjoyable. One word of caution: the shower can get pretty slippery, so be careful. The resort offers a complimentary welcome drink, but I wouldn't really call it complimentary since there's a mandatory $35 daily resort fee that covers various amenities, many of which you may not even use. I also don't drink alcohol, so it wasn't much of a perk for me. I did take advantage of the 24-hour fitness center and was pleasantly surprised. There was a good variety of equipment, the treadmills worked well, and they provided complimentary towels, water, and even apples. My only criticism is that the gym could use a more thorough cleaning. One thing to know before booking is that this resort doesn't have a beach. That wasn't a dealbreaker for me because the pool was very nice. My mother and I drove to Sanibel Beach, which was only about 10-15 minutes away. However, parking was difficult to find, it costs $5 per hour, and the mosquitoes were relentless. Unless you're set on visiting the island, I'd recommend relaxing at the resort instead. The elevators worked well, and every staff member I interacted with was friendly and professional. Overall, there wasn't anything particularly spectacular about this resort, but it provided a relaxing and enjoyable Fourth of July getaway for my family. I would recommend it to others. Personally, I probably wouldn't stay here again, although I wouldn't hesitate if it were my only option.

For such a fancy hotel, I was quite surprised there was nowhere to find water. I expected a fruity water station somewhere near the entry, a standard in high-end hotels today. I was also surprised the concierge could not provide a running map. Even with the local construction, the path right out the front door is nice and separated from traffic. ****WARNING**** PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING THIS HOTEL - MARCH 2022…read more I've never been so disgusted and displeased with the state of a hotel room in my life. Especially in the era of the pandemic where every single business/service is toting an extra level of cleanliness and sanitation. It's like the Wyndham Garden Inn Fort Myers Beach chose to do the opposite. I've stayed in old, "cheap", no frills hotel rooms all my life and I can handle old with minimal amenities. I can't handle dirt and stains and filth and bugs in a hotel room I am paying close to $500 per night for. There were stains on every single piece of upholstery in the hotel room. Black dirt/dust along all the baseboards and light switches. Black dirt/dust on and in the AC unit. Bugs crawling around the window sills that were covered in dirt and dust. Dust covering every hard surface. I don't understand why they didn't bother to wipe them down? Some pieces of furniture looked like a dog chewed on it for a few hours. The noise from the live band that played nightly until 9 or 10 PM could have been tolerated but the uncleanliness of the room ruined that for me too. Honestly, maybe they hoped the band would be so loud and obnoxious that you wouldn't want to spend time in the room and by the time you returned back after the band and drunk bar goers left you'd be too tired to notice, or complain. I spent about 15 minutes in the room before I decided it was uninhabitable and went to the front desk to let them know I would not be staying there. The front desk said he couldn't do anything about it, I would still be charged (almost $500 per night, remember?) and that the manager would call me on Monday to sort it out. It's now Wednesday at 5PM and no phone call or email. I've even called the hotel once to follow-up. I was once again brushed off. Save yourself the trouble and hassle that I have gotten roped into. I read reviews before booking but admittedly did not read them super closely. The overall review score seems OK but something has happened recently. Something has changed and changed for the worse and most recent reviews are negative. I'm not sure what has gone wrong. New management, not enough staff???? Whatever it is, something needs to change. I hardly ever post negative reviews like this (check my profile) but the state of this hotel room was atrocious and I want others to be aware before you spend your hard earned money on a place like this. Do not give this hotel your business until they make REAL changes and actually make an effort to reach out and resolve the issues of their guests. At almost $500 per night, they should be able to afford to hire cleaning staff and room keepers. I've waited almost 6 days before posting this review to give the manager/Wyndham Garden Inn Fort Myers Beach a chance to reach out to me and make this right and they haven't.

Diana told us that the toy violated a pool rule, but suggested our children and their new friends should play with that toy on the small grass area next to the standing water and service street. (By the way, it's gross to walk around standing water to enter/exit the pool area.) Here are the pool rules that are most challenging for families: -No inflatables -No flotations -No ball playing Seriously, at a pool?? What if your kid can't swim? Who wrote and approved these? The same people who collect 20% of all rental income for the building? Yep, those grumpy anti-kid patrol curmudgeons who complain to the front desk. They're unliked by the rest of the property owners, and obviously us renters who selected this location because it seemed like a good place for families. On 3/27 the whole building was displaced due to no electricity and no water. Unbelievable. They hung these notes on our doors. We understand that sometimes unfortunate things can occur. When we asked Diana about compensation, or discounted options for us to have lunch, etc. they told us they were not responsible and would doing anything for renters.  Diana told us we could use the pool during that time- BUT the condo owners we met at the pool told us the pool's electric filtration system will not work and to stay out of the pool. It's only a 5 minute walk to the closest beach, 12 min walk to the lighthouse beach (and a lot of beach parking on the island is not free). It's surrounded by good food- our favorite restaurant on the island (wickies) is just across the street, along with great ice cream. My one very minor and personal opinion suggestion would be that the fluorescent bulbs made the room feel a bit blue and stark at night, if the bulbs had a yellow tint it would feel even more cozy. We can't wait to bring our kids when they're a little older and stay here again!

Such a cute promising little place! The owners are so nice and have beach chairs and an umbrella…read moreand even a cart. The room was spacious and clean. They had great check in info. Unfortunately I did not sleep a wink here, I am a super light sleeper and unfortunately the room next to ours had a couple of baritone guys that woke up at 4:30 in the morning ughhh...the beds were not the most comfy unfortunately either adding to a bit of my suffering as well. Giving it 4 stars. I unfortunately should have gotten some earplugs after the first night. I felt like they were talking to me since their convo was so close to our headboard. Owners seemed to go above and beyond so probably unfortunately just the loud guests we were next to combined with my light sleeping tendencies!!!

MELISSA AND SCOTT (both at the pool) and MIKE (a porter) were the absolute BEST wait staff. Mike…read moretook all of our bags and showed us up to a smooth check-in process that included complimentary drinks. He got us and our friends off to our rooms quickly and as we saw him around the grounds the rest of the week was always cheerful and a joy to chat with. We got a Cabana for two days, and Melissa was our assigned waitress on day one. Simply stellar. She kept checking up on us, provided great advice on what to do, and our group of 14 couldn't have had a better time. Scott helped us out on day two when our assigned waiter for the cabana (who I won't name) was a little too much on the younger side to be able to be as attentive and simply had a hard time making the connection that Melissa and Scott did. Melissa and Scott had water shoes, and were not afraid of coming right up to us when we were on the edge of the pool, as it was no deal to get their shoes wet. We WILL be back; we WILL ask for Melissa and Scott. Otherwise, in the resort, it was extremely clean and the atmosphere was spot-on. The coffee shop next to the pedestrian bridge to the pool from the main hotel helped with the bender hangovers, and the staff there were very nice. The lobby on the second floor was nice, as the parking and utilities for the hotel are on the hurricane-flood-prone ground floor. There was night entertainment out on the promenade, and I was grateful that we had a room on the outside of the hotel not overlooking the promenade, but I noticed by 1030pm, the loud music was gone. Good balance between partying and letting us drunks sleep. Great party hotel. Great DJ earlier in the day. The couple who sang and played music in the DJ Cabana also were great. The later-in-the-day DJ was less impressive; he hesitated to play some of the songs we requested. The location was central to many dining and entertainment options. The shop in the lobby had some essentials we forgot as well. If there is any critique; continue to focus on making sure the younger wait staff have no problems with old-fashioned effective communication and making time to check back in plenty of times throughout the day, especially if the cost of the drinks is as high as it is. I have no problem paying for it if the wait staff are as attentive as Melissa and Scott.

Our family was excited to experience the new Margaritaville in Fort Myers Beach. We are Floridians,…read morefrom the other coast, and we have always enjoyed FMB, which is only a few hours away. Upon arriving, we were told that a luggage cart was only available through a bellhop service. They only offer valet, as a side note. When we checked in, we did receive a complimentary margarita, but no smiles or warmth. This carried on throughout the weekend; none of the staff seemed pleased to be there, and only one of them even smiled back or said hello. The room was clean and new, and the theming is on point. It is a beautiful place and as a PH, I truly enjoyed the music and the decor. Everything is so Margaritaville -- colors, music, theme. All 10/10. When it came to restaurant staff, we had the opposite experience and everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed our time at the downstairs bar and at the JWB, which is more of an upscale dining experience with a beautiful view of the beach. The pool does not open until 9am, but we brought our own tent and chairs because we were researched and knew that the public beach is right next to the resort. This was the best move we could have made! Highly recommend if you're driving and can bring your own beach supplies. I do believe that you can have a complimentary umbrella and 2 chairs as an overnight guest, but we were pleased to be able to have our own space. The other thing worth mentioning is that you cannot bring food or drink into the pool area -- not even from their own restaurant/bar. I purchased lunch from the downstairs restaurant and as I was waiting to bring it to the beach, I was told that I could not bring my drink into the pool area right next door. It's all one resort, and organization, but I assume they are worried about people bringing their own cocktails in the cups they provide. There should be an option to show your receipt or at least people should be aware of that before they spend $15 plus on a drink at a POOL/ BEACH BAR. I would say that we had a great experience because we were with family and the beach is stunning regardless of where you stay. The weather in July is touch and go, so we were blessed with mostly clear days. Would I recommend a stay here? No. I think that there are many other places with the same view and a similar experience, and we felt like we were charged for every little thing, plus the unfriendly staff. Even as we were checking out and making several trips to our vehicle, housekeeping kept trying to enter our room (before check out) no matter how many times I explained we were still working on moving out.
