DiamondHead has clearly gone through a recent remodel, and you can tell--they've freshened things up nicely, especially after Hurricane Ian. The newly updated beach bar area is the standout: gorgeous, inviting, and the perfect place to unwind with great live music drifting through the salt air. Now, yes... there's sand everywhere. But you're on a beach, so it's kind of like finding glitter after Christmas--it comes with the territory. The only real hiccup during our stay was the AC. We had to ask twice at the front desk before someone came to take a look, and we spent the first day and a half trying to convince ourselves we "run warm." Once it was fixed, all was well, but a quicker response would've made the stay even smoother. Highly recommend staying here for a weekend getaway with family or solo! The beach is literally behind the pool to enjoy the sunset or sunrise. They also have a live band there on the weekends, locals come and enjoy the restaurant onsite. Super friendly staff and very clean environment. 1. The good- it's right in the beach. All the rooms are suites. The staff is friendly, especially "Michael" at the reception desk, who was outstanding 2. The bad- all the destruction after Hurricane Ian is evident and it looks like you're in a war zone. The restaurants are subpar. We had nachos at The beach restaurant that tasted like old cardboard. We had dinner at Coste their upscale restaurant that was actually pretty decent until the server forgot about us, never cleared our table, never asked if we wanted coffee or dessert ( we were waiting to order some), then couldn't figure out how to split a check right , then lied about tbe "service charge" that was added to our check. I always tip servers well-they work hard, but don't lie to me. So that restaurant lost out repeat business. The beach staff that gives umbrellas and chairs at the beach kick you out at 5 pm. And lastly for Four hundred bucks a night we expect more. Like more water in the rooms (it's 3 dollars a bottle) or beach towels that aren't stained. I think next year we'll look elsewhere. There is also a great beach bar and pool, plus bike rentals are available if you want a fun option to explore outside the resort. UPDATE: Their web portal uses Booking.com, and apparently that's where these ridiculous charges were tacked on. The very nice person I spoke to at DiamondHead verified our original reservation costs. So my takeaway is DO NOT USE BOOKING.COM: some BS 'tax recovery charge' of over $200 and when I cancelled the reservation 2 MINUTES LATER I get an over $300 cancellation fee? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? NO reference that these charges were occurring NO reference to cancellation fee and info when booked NO reference that booking the room THROUGH THE HOTEL SITE that it was being pushed to a Third-Party vendor. And I demand restitution. Your attorney general will be receiving my screenshots of this fraudulent transaction. The hotel was fine.. a little overpriced for what it is and where it's located. There is nothing close by. The very few places that are walking distance are all closed due to the hurricane from a few years ago . All the lights are out on the road so you can't even walk anywhere at night because it's pitch black and you need your flashlight on your phone to see where you're walking. I was on vacation with my daughters and I felt very unsafe. When I explained this to the hotel so I can get refunded the rest of the nights, They were not accommodating. They wanted one night penalty, which is close to $300.. The hotel was empty, the town is a ghost town. If you're traveling to Fort Myers, you're better off staying at the Margaritaville.! Stayed here for a business trip. It's located right on the beach and within walking distance to where all the bars and restaurants are in Fort Myers Beach. The room was clean and large but was dated. The couch and chair were faded but again were clean. Large screened in balcony with a table for four and two lounge chairs, sliders that lead into the bedroom and living space. The kitchenette was a nice surprise. The shower was small, I'm not that tall but when I stepped in my head was almost at the ceiling and had to bend over a bit to wash my hair. Water pressure was a little bit of an issue. Had a problem with the AC and maintenance beat us back to the room from the front desk ! Was fixed in less than 30 minutes. During our stay two beach chairs and an umbrella were complimentary! Will definitely stay here again and our group is even talking about having another meeting here next year ! read more

They could fire the female unprofessional manager there. ! I was treated with utter contempt after one of my friends had a health accident and fell on their floor and his head bled , he had to be taken to hospital - and manager acted in NAZI fashion and had me followed, and spied on rest of my trip. I have this in quote from one of the employees at the DIAMOND HEAD RESORT !! If I were you, I'd pick another place for your accommodations. They were liable and slow in their response the emergency and legal action is coming against them and parent company. They will claim other things etc.. but I have their employee who in person told be if the managers tactics and treatment of employees so, I can't wait them to get the summons to appear ! Diamondhead could easily have a five star rating however they need to listen to their customers and give a care. After staying here for two nights, I see why there are five star reviews and 1-2 star reviews. Either they give you an updated room and what you paid for or they cheat you by giving you less than you paid for or neglect to inform you of things going on at the hotel. Here are the top five positive things from our trip. First, the view from the 8th floor was amazing. We were in a room on the side with a view of the pier. 2nd, the building is extremely solid. 3rd, the staff were nice except for rude manager who said his name was Nathan. 4th, I found the room to be clean upon arrival. 5th, the kitchenette in the suite had plates, silverware, glasses, coffee cups, can opener, cork screw, cutting board, a glass pyrex, salt & pepper, a candle, paper towel, kitchen towel, toaster, microwave, coffee pot and minifridge. It was enough for me to make antipasto to eat on the balcony while watching the sunset. Here are the top five negative things from our trip. First, I booked weeks in advance and did NOT book a handicap room. The modern walk in shower in my room description was nonexistent. Instead we had something out of a Bathfitter commercial. It was a tub with shower combo made out of plastic with tons of hand rails and a plastic seat for wheel chair occupants. The counter was cheap formica instead of granite in room description and the tile was old beige 12x12, not the updated tile as described. The toilet was extremely high off of the ground. 2nd, we arrived at 3:00 pm which starts check in time and when I called for a room change, they said they were at 97% occupancy. I am sure that every suite was not occupied yet and they just didn't want to accommodate us. The manager would not compensate either. After reading more reviews, other people got free drink coupons. 3rd, the hotel had live music with a large crowd that was roudy way past midnight and the second night a group of people were yelling in our hallway for more than an hour. 4th, I had just stayed at a Homewood Suites and it had a full kitchen and was gorgeously updated for much less than I paid here. The description for Diamonhead website had granite counter in kitchenette and updated tile. This had formica and old tile. 5th, the second day the room was warm. At first, I thought it was because it was really hot outside, then because we were opening the sliding glass door from time to time. I locked the slider and closed the curtain cutting off our view. I grew irritable at night with the stickiness and climbed up on a chair to feel the vent. It was blowing warm air. We called the front desk and they sent someone to flush the system. We suffered for more than eight hours because the air conditioner was not well maintained. Again, we were not compensated in anyway. read more

I stayed here for a week last month and had a pretty great time! We stayed on the 5th floor via a VRBO listing. The room and patio were nice and spacious, so had plenty of space to relax, sleep, eat. Our room had a minifridge, but no freezer section. Friends staying in the room across the hall from us did have a freezer (a small one, as you'd expect from a mini fridge). There was also a microwave, small stovetop, and dishwasher, with enough dishes to eat lunch and key lime pie we'd bought. There is a recycling bin, which was nice since we bought canned soda. Things were clean, though slightly dated and the furniture looked a bit worn. However, it appeared that updates were being made based on boxes we saw on the lower level. Due to COVID, there was no cleaning during our stay, which wasn't too big of a deal except that we were provided with one toilet paper roll, so had to stop by the desk several times for more. The shower toiletries are in pump bottles on the wall, so that will last awhile if they are full (I'm not sure our conditioner was). The screened-in patio was very nice - several lounge chairs as well as a table and chairs, perfect for lunch and watching the beach. The screen felt a little annoying at first (hard to take pics, can't lean on railing), but I never noticed any bugs, so that was a plus. One of my favorite things were the room keys, beach towels, and chair/umbrella setups at the beach. The room keys are in rubber bracelets - it feels a little silly at first, but is great because you don't have to worry about losing your keys at the beach (or anywhere else really). It was nice having designated towels for beach time, and while I've never had the chair/umbrella at the beach before, it was really nice to have a "spot" and a bit of shade. The beach was pretty nice, and had a low slope which meant you had to go out a ways to get to deep water and the beach changed dramatically with the tide. There was one low point where seaweed and old crab legs tended to accumulate that was kind of gross, but was also where some of the nice shells were if you like shelling. This was a small walk from the beach directly in front of hotel, so not -right- there, though I assume the beach is always changing. It's a fairly busy beach, but did not feel overcrowded. There is a small shower/wash hut before you enter the hotel so you can rinse off before going back inside. We had drinks from the Cabana once, and it was pretty good! You can take drinks purchased here down to the beach. Many frozen drink options to choose from. We did not try the fancier restaurant there - I suggest making reservations fairly early in the day. The Diamondhead is in a convenient location on the island - lots of restaurants nearby and a manageable walk from the main tourist area to the northwest. The main issue during our stay was construction and elevator service. The last 2-3 days of our stay there was what sounded like major renovation in the rooms above us. Since this is a place you'd spend most of your time outdoors, not a huge problem, but the construction noises were pretty unpleasant if you like sleeping past 9 am - thank goodness they didn't begin earlier! There are 4 main elevators, and I don't think there was ever a time all were in operation as they were being maintained. However, we did hear that this maintenance was happening because it's typically the slow season and this year was unusually busy being the first "open" summer since COVID. Waiting for an elevator was a minor inconvenience overall. The front desk and other staff we met were generally friendly and helpful. My read more

Awful business. They claim to be a "resort," which is straight comedy. The largest/best room is weak at best, resembling less than an economy Hyatt. We were told while making a reservation that we would be refunded for any cancelled days, and the customer service was so strangely angry, we gave up and are now paying for the entire stay. The front desk attendant spoke on behalf of the confirmation that we could cancel early, then lied to his manager when we were on the phone. If I could rate zero stars I would. Oh but wait! It gets worse. They are fixing the place up after hurricane Ian hit. An electrician working outside DIED ON SITE here at DiamondHead. We passed by his body several times. Kids did as well. Wanted a weekend getaway for the holiday and granted it was rather last minute so I already had anticipated most places to be booked. Considered other options, but in reality, don't want to do Air bnb mostly because I don't want to be in a strangers living room, unless they're not there at all. Called multiple locations as I was driving to the area and they had availability here so I went ahead and booked based on amenities and location. The room had a kitchenette so that was perfect! Had a view to the beach and the stay included a beach chair and bike rentals during their service hours. The staff was wearing masks, very friendly and accommodating all around. Downstairs they have an open-air restaurant bar area and lo and behold, they had live music!! Yayyy!! Hadn't heard or seen live music since the stupid pandemic started so this was right down my alley :) And they have a ramp straight to the beach from there. The staff was all around great and the location couldn't have been better! Not in the straight mix of the mess, however far enough to enjoy some quiet, and walking distance to the hay day "downtown". I would definitely recommend this hotel! It is legit a 2 minute walk to the beach & the bar outside is so convenient & the staff were very nice! The room was spacious & clean! They were doing construction on the 10th floor so I'm sure the rooms will be even nicer when they're done. They don't have daily housekeeping services due to COVID but you could request it if you wanted. This hotel is located right in FMB & you can walk to all the stores and restaurants. The pool & beach area were clean and neatly setup daily (don't leave your pool towels or they'll charge). The staff on the beach were super friendly & willing to help! Very nice resort. When I was there, the water was awful brown from the algae/runnoff from Lake O, but I don't blame the resort for something beyond their control. Our room suite was clean, modern, and had overall very nice accommodations. We were on the 10th floor overlooking the pool and with a great view of the (yucky brown) Gulf of Mexico. I can only imagine the blue water! Staff was very friendly and helpful. My girlfriend is deaf and a gentleman from the front desk (Frank?? if my memory serves me right) came and helped us get the TV CC working when we were having issues. He did this at 10:30 at night, and had a great attitude of helpfulness. Being a Midwest boy by birth, it was really cool chatting with all the people at the resort - both employees and fellow visitors - from the Chicagoland area. We had a great time, and Cabanas had wonderful cocktails/frozen drinks we could enjoy at the bar or poolside. While the ocean water was disgusting, the beach was wide, spacious, clean and pristine. The property was under construction due to them restoring their on-site restaurant, but it was not a bother to us. The location was in easy walking distance to most everything in Fort Myers Beach. We drove very little and walked to dinner/shopping each day. We will certainly be back next time in FMB. read more

I absolutley love this place! the location is amazing. right in the beach and a close enough walk to downtown FMB and all the fun bars and restaurants on the way. we usually rent a moped to explore more but its a great location. the staff is amazing and so accommodating. from the front desk to the bell boys 5 stars. the rooms are very nice because it's got a little kitchen for rainy days to stock up and enjoy a relaxing day in the room. the bar downstairs is awesome. the older restraint was pricey but good and we have not yet tried the new place coste. we have never even thought to stay anywhere else. the private lanai is are favorite. so peaceful to sit outside at night or rainy evening hear the ocean play music and we bring a card game. read more

My wife and I stayed here from 8/2-8/8 and absolutely loved it ! Sarah checked us in and told us everything we needed to know, next we entered our room which had a great view of the beach from our 9th floor balcony. We ran into Neil Hopgood one morning out front of the hotel and he gave us a great tip to contact John the bellman to help us arrange a sunset tour. John connected us with GulfCoast Tiki Tours and we had an excellent time! Lynnea @ the Cabanas Beach bar on site was excellent pouring us great drinks & talking with us all week. The hotel itself is THE BEST HOTEL ON FMB and we are so happy we booked our vacation there. The beach is beautiful and area is safe & clean. We didn't have a rental car but were able to walk to many restaurants & shops all along Estero Blvd which was great. Only negative is the elevators were extremely SLOW during our stay but otherwise we had a GREAT TIME! I highly recommend this hotel if you vacationing Fort Myers. read more

This is absolutely one of the best choices for anyone looking for a hotel right on the beach in Fort Myers. I came down to South Florida, just to take a retreat from the craziness that is Chicago for Memorial weekend and couldn't be happier with the accommodations. The standard hotel rooms are more like suites, each with both living room and bedroom. I felt like I was escaping to one of those swanky places featured on Life Styles of the rich and famous. The real treat isn't the really the living quarters, but rather the balcony over viewing the ocean. In the morning, when it's really quiet, you can see for miles down the Florida coast and listen the soft calls of seagulls. The rooms all have a fridge, coffee maker, toaster and microwave, which is ideal if you're looking to save case by cooking your own food. The hotel also has an in house spa, and a small fitness room on the second floor. If you are looking for water sports, the hotel has everything available, including para sailing. We ended up renting a scooter across the street and cruised around the island. If you're looking for more of a romantic vacation spot, I would highly recommend this place. In the balcony they had a round table (to have breakfast i guess) and two beach chairs to lay out and enjoy the view of the ocean!!!! Finally, the service was wonderful, when I arrived back home I realized I had left something behind in the room and they shipped it to me at no cost wich made me very very happy!!!! We just spent a nice week here... First off this place is really more like a hotel room w/ living room and very small kitchen. I guess it's about what you are used to in a timeshare. We are used to having a full refrigerator/freezer, oven and washer/dryer in our room. They did have a laundry room, ice machine on some of the floors. Great location on the beach with friendly people that work there. At the time we were there the water had quite a bit of algae in it, but still alright to go in. It was warm and very calm. You can walk out a 100 ft and still be knee deep. We enjoyed the pool area, but can't imagine what it's like at full capacity because it's somewhat a small area. We were able to go on waverunner tour (Hollywood Water Sports) right from in front of hotel that was pretty awesome. Food at Cabana's (on property) pretty good and reasonably priced. Lot's of good restaurants nearby within walking distance. Our room was clean and housekeeping was very nice. Our last day there (July 6) we were awoken by fire alarm at 7am to evacuate by stairs. After walking down 7 flights of stairs and gathering on ground floor we were never briefed by ANY of the staff on what was happening. Fire department rolled up around 10 mins later and proceeded to the new restaurant that they are building (oh yeah forgot to mention the jackhammering while trying to enjoy lunch the day before - they gave some people vouchers to use rental chairs/umbrella on beach, but my husband was told no (by 2 women at front desk) because our room was not by construction area. Not sure what that had to do with anything because we were being inconvenienced at that current moment) All in all I would not return to this location. Management needs to be more accountable for communicating in an emergency situation. read more

We arrived at the hotel to find that our reservation never made it to the hotel after we booked it, as well as a twist in the age policy that you have to be 25 years old. The woman at the front desk gave us this attitude, like we weren't paying guests in a high quality resort because we were 18 years of age. It took us about an hour and a half to finally confirm our booking and get to our room. Even after that fiasco they still didn't seem to be willing to compensate us for the issue we experienced. Anyway..... We got up to the room and were pleasantly surprised by the spacious suite with amenities for 4. It was clean, open spaced, and beachy. We felt a tad hot, but waited for the temperature to adjust. Considering our day was severed by this check-in malfunction, we were still ready to have a great time. That being said we didn't spend much time at the hotel before we set out to explore the town. When we got back, we spent most of our time outside on the screened in porch, it was very enjoyable. Then we set in for the night. When we woke up, it was 5:30 am and we were sweating in bed... The a.c was busted, and probably always had been, so we had to call for maintenance, who didn't arrive until 7 am. So they sent the security who, (SURPRISE), had no luck. At 7:20 am the friendly maintenance team came and fixed the a.c quickly and after that we were ice cold, no complaints there. But oh my, all that and we never experienced any kind of sympathy from the staff. ANYWAY......... We woke up after all that at around 12:30 pm, exhausted from a poor nights sleep. But still we had a marvelous day in Fort Myers Beach. Still nothing from the staff.................. After our mini-vacation was butchered by the late check-in and the unrestful nights sleep caused by a busted A/C, we were a little peeved, and tried to at least spring for the late-check option they had listed in the welcome packet. It was listed for $50 until 4pm, but we planned on demanding on them comping it for us. But no, when we called down and simply inquired about it, they woman immediately told us how they hotel was "too full". Anyway.......................................... We ended up checking out at 11 am and getting some pool keys to hang at the beach. The place was really great, don't get me wrong. But, I expected more from them in such trip ruining situations. I felt they discriminated against us because of our young age (18), which really put a damper on the whole trip. :/ In all actuality, this is probably one of the nicest hotels on the strip, and is worth the bucks, but not the hassle. read more

My sister and her husband and me rented a handicap room back in September 2023 for a week in February 2024. we told them that we needed a handicap room for my brother-in-law who was in a wheelchair, when we got to the room we could not even go out on the big patio because of the air conditioners out on the roof the floor below us. It was so loud that you could not even sit inside the room with the door opened let alone sitting on the patio We had to keep the door shut at all times. Our last night there of the Super Bowl we came back from a friends house and there was a guy out there hosing down all the air conditioning units. We wouldn't even be able to sit there inside the room with the blinds open because he was right there. I would never go back to this place, and I would never recommend it to anybody who needs a handicap room, they never told us back when we rented this room that it would have this. When you opened up the sliding door my brother-in-law couldn't even wheel himself out there because of the big lip of the door. you think they would've gave us a discount for not telling us about this loud air conditioning machinery on the roof. read more

Staff was friendly, rooms spacious and clean. Nice location too with easy on site parking and beach chair access. The bathrooms by the pool were kind of gross, there is no on site breakfast option and the food at the pool restaurant was average. They also didn't have any flexibility for housekeeping or late check out. read more

Stayed at diamondhead this past weekend. Had a great time! Stayed on the 8th floor beachside. The view was perfect from the balcony! The hotel is in walking distance of downtown ft Myers beach, the pier, etc! Lots of bars, restaurants etc in reach! Plus they have their own restaurants on property! Also rented jet skis right on the beach behind the property! read more

My husband and I had a wonderful time at this resort. We stayed in a junior suite with a north "sunset" view. Because our room was on the end, we got an extensive view of the gulf, beach, pier, city, and the bay. The balcony was quite large with two lounge chairs and a table with four chairs. The room was very clean and supplied with many amenities including a microwave, small fridge, cooktop, glasses, utensils, magazines, and much more. The pool was very nice and offered entertainment for kids and adults. I would definitely stay here again. read more

Booked a one bedroom gulf view room on line for an impromptu Saturday get away. Upon arrival in our room there was very little gulf view. Called the front desk and for $60 more we got a one bedroom beach front deluxe room on the fifth floor. The view was wonderful with a nice balcony with table and lounges. Room itself was okay. Small kitchen with a dorm sized refrigerator. Decent size but needed cleaning and updating (even though we were told the room had been recently updated). Sofa was dingy. Carpet was dirty and the walls were stained with splatter. Wall by the shower had paint peeling off it. These rooms are timeshare so he furniture and finishes you get are dependent on the owner of the unit. On the plus side the people at the front desk were very nice. The poolside bar drinks and food were good. And the on site restaurant was very good, especially with the $20 coupon we got at check in (there aren't any really nice restaurants around the hotel). All in all a decent place to stay. Beach had few people and the sound of the waves was nice. If you book in the fall do it before Christmas when the rates apparently double. read more
