There is also just the bare minimum of businesses that one would need to have their needs met. One small Food Lion grocery store and a few restaurants are here and that's about it! It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of Myrtle Beach or the beaches of Charleston proper, but it's its a great place to come to get away from it all. I like that they've recently added a great coffee shop and more restaurants in the past few years. During season everything is constantly packed, but in the off season you can usually get a table pretty quickly. The beaches are nice and well maintained and parking is generally pretty easy to find. I don't want to gatekeep edisto bc I love it so much, but I also don't want it to lose its quaint little charm!

Get this y'all- I finally talked my better half into going tent camping for the first time. This…read morehas been a two year process, starting off with staying in a nice cabin, then later a more rustic cabin, and then after that a Yurt at Sweetwater Creek State Park outside of Atlanta. This week we whittled the outdoor experience to a simple tent here at Edisto and guess what? We had a great time and now my wife is into camping!!! While I would have wanted to spend the whole weekend here, I thought it best if we just camped for one night in case she hated it, because I'm not in the business of making people miserable, well for the most part, anyways. The whole process with booking was easy, just a short online reservation. If you have any specific questions you can call them right up and figure things out. Edisto Park is about 18 miles off Hwy 17 and east to find. We stayed at the Beach Campground, which has a ranger station/general store near the entrance where you can pick up firewood and anything else you may have forgotten before you set up camp. The campsites are clean, fairly level and clearly marked. There are electrical and water connections at each one, so if you need that (we didn't) it's available and in good condition. There is also a bath house with showers that are well maintained and beach access can be found throughout the campsite. We had a great time, saw some wildlife- including a fat raccoon that looked me dead in the eyes and ran off with my hot dog buns after it got dark, as well as some deer that said good morning to us as they walked through the marsh. The beach itself wasn't so great, lots of sharp seashells but still very clean, but with it still being April, we were more focused on camping than hitting the beach. All in all, a great campsite. Looking forward to camping again soon in some other SC state parks and having another good time.

Recently remodeled, with a large spacious kitchen with an ultra useful kitchen island. Four large bedrooms each with their own bathroom which is quite convenient. This is one of the nicer places myself and my family have stayed in Edisto. With a little bit of extra thought and preparation this place would be a stellar 5 star vacation rental. The home has lovely pots and pans, but the worst knives ever. I ended up buying a sharpener in order to deal with the stunningly dull cutlery. 1000 serrated steak knives, but only one non serrated chef's knife. I'll probably bring my own knives next time as I love to cook while on vacation!

Captain Crawford made sure we saw dolphins feeding and many beautiful natural and historic sites. A main highlight was seeing the Shell Circle left so many years ago by the native people of the area. It is tragic that it is all too rapidly falling into the water now. So it was an especially important sight. I would like to thank him for creating such a wonderful experience for us all. We had so much fun and learned a bit at the same time.

They also sell state fishing licenses and book fishing tours for a local charter boat company. This store is located across the street from the brackish lagoons and the golf course. Anyone fishing on Edisto Island will shop here sooner than later as this is the only bait and tackle store on the island. Nice folks working here and helping folks.

As we were leaving, we were notified that the captain was "sick," and that they had cancelled. Understandably, we called to reschedule because is was the only experience we were looking forward to on this vacation. Not only did we receive zero help, but no one called us back. Hours later, we called to reschedule. Someone rescheduled us with the same unreliable captain for the next day. As my family is boarding the boat and waiting, we are told that the captain is not coming. Not only did we waste 2 WHOLE days waiting and rearranging our schedules around this extremely unprofessional company, but my family was disappointed twice. As a company, they took our credit card information to charge for a no show, but their employees are unreliable and should be charged for their no show. I am so disappointed and infuriated by this lack of respect for our time. We will not be returning, and I hope you consider not booking with this negligent, incompetent, and unprofessional business.

Having not previously rented a home beach front we were excited and willing to splurge for a treat beach front. However, upon arrival were disappointed. I spent our first evening cleaning the kitchen. There were numerous items damaged in the home and it simply was not as we were expecting. Upon reaching out to Atwood, we were informed the home was for sale and under contract therefore the owner had said they would not be doing any additional work, stating that they knew of some of the issues I had photographed. I am quite disappointed by Atwood. As a rental company, I believe knowing this information, they should have reached out to us as renters prior to our arrival to let us know the home was under contract and not in the condition one would expect. As the week went on other issues came up but having been flippantly told, "the owner won't be doing anything else, sorry" there was no point in calling. Though I did send an email later in the week and received no reply. A better model for business would have called us and told us so that we had the opportunity to change accommodations if we wanted. A great model of business would have had an alternative in mind to recommend for us. Very disappointed in the service we received from Atwood, and that they allow an owner to no longer keep up with a home once for sale but will continue to rent.

Therefore we were charged $325 and told we left the place in "disarray". I suppose we should have been cleaning all weekend instead of going to the beach or anything else for that matter. I understand that trashing the place is unacceptable, however the TH was not trashed and we only used two of the three beds. If you can go somewhere else please do. We travel a lot and never have I ever been charged so ridiculously

I visit the Townhouse the 1st full week in April (The Masters week in Augusta). We have always…read moreenjoyed our visit. Relaxing and calming. Once we had to stay in another unit while they worked on ours. No problem even though it was smaller. This year we had a major problem. The first day the downstairs bathroom toilet clogged at night. We called the office and reported the problem the next morning. They asked if we had a plunger, we did not. They said they would send a repairman right away. He arrived​ around 5pm. He plunged it and said it was fine. He also asked if we had a plunger. The next morning the toilet clogged again. I called the office and left a message. After waiting all day with no return call, I then called the after hours phone number. Later the same repairman showed up with a plunger and cleared the toilet. He said the toilet needed roto-router. For the next 5 days I continued to plung the toilet at least once a day. Not exactly a pleasant way to spend a vacation. The stairs going to the second floor were loose and made a noise when they rocked upon stepping on them. Finally, one window has been missing for a screen for a couple of years. I have recommended these town houses in the past, but not anymore.
