I notice I'm the only recent review on here that's not at least a year ago or way longer. It apparently is not what it used to be! What a disappointing experience. My husband & I planned an anniversary trip to Beaufort and stayed at the Best Western across from the park because we thought it would be lovely to walk by the water at night. After dinner, we walked down to the park and were very surprised by a tall, chain link fence in front of the entire walkway saying no one was permitted! Not to mention the homeless people all over the benches in the very poorly lit area. To add to it, there is a lot of road work being done on many of the streets here and there are large fences also blocking entire roads off. And the smell of trash is strong while walking around the area. Like so many small towns that used to be nice, looks like politicians have ruined this one too. read more

Beaufort is no longer functionally a fort, but it is still beautiful, and its substantial waterfront offers excellent views, a nice breeze, and several handy amenities. There is a substantial playground. Several businesses directly adjoin the waterfront as well. The one thing that it does not have is a way of getting under the bridge, so if you want to get to the nice historic homes you do have to cross the town's one busy street. But the views will likely be well worth it. read more

Such a beautiful and well kept area. There is plenty of space for children to play. There are places for the adults to relax and take in the scenery and they also hold events in the area such as the water festival. My childhood play and hangout spot, the "waterfront" as the locals call it is a great spot to spend the day with friends, families, or even entertain a date. While it's quiet most times the venue often hosts yearly events like the Music Fest of the Lowcountry in June, Beaufort Water Festival in July, and the Beaufort Shrimp Festival in October. I loved having the opportunity to visit the waterfront to enjoy a different vantage point of Charleston. We walked along the water and people watched. There were several photo shoots happening in the area because it is so beautiful. Of course the Pineapple Fountain is the star of this area. It remind's me of Buckingham Fountain back home in Chicago. Grand and ornate, it is a real sight to see. The area was very clean and tidy. It was well kept and just lovely. I think this is definitely a must see for all Charleston visitors and certainly a place for locals too. read more

Beautiful park in downtown Beaufort. We normally go for a walk around the park and sit on the swings and just spend some quiet time watching the time go by. It's very well maintained, in close proximity to parking, shopping, and food, and has a beautiful waterfront view. The swings really make it worth visiting. read more

I loved it here. I didn't get to stay for very long, but I wish I could have! It was so peaceful. Loved the swings, the path along the water, and how clean it was. You can tell that it is taken care of because trash was not thrown everywhere. It is in a nice area with plenty of shops and such within walking distance. This was such a cool city, and this park is the heart of it with it's long, wide, nicely designed concrete walkway, with the water and anchored sailboats on one side, along with the Forrest Gump bridge in the distance, and the nice one grass area with the long row of wooden swing benches, (which were nice to sit on while resting from doing pull-ups on the structure holding it up. Behind the perfectly manicured open green space, is the main drag of the the old town center, and that is nice to walk through too, lots of cool shops and artwork. I was just passing through this town around dusk, but I found it hard to leave after walking around the town for a few hour and after talking to a local beggar about all the history here, so I ended up staying the night, and hanging around the next day exploring. In hindsight, there was so much more to see, so much rich history, so I will be back. read more

This park is a jewel in downtown Beaufort. It is beautifully executed and spans several acres overlooking the Beaufort River and the Intracoastal Waterway. What's wonderful about this park is that is woven seamlessly into the fabric of the downtown area. Shopping, businesses, restaurants and this park make for such a pleasant town. There is a promenade along the water where you'll see people taking a stroll or jogging while taking in views of the water, the Woods Memorial Bridge, the tip of Lady's Island and Port Royal. You'll see plenty of boats gliding through the Intercoastal Waterway, you can watch people fishing or just relaxing on one of the many benches or swings that are provided. I loved the swings! There are gorgeous oak trees dripping with Spanish moss and lots of other greenery and beautiful flowers. There is a children's playground, a stage and pavilion for events and a lot of open grassy areas. There are shaded tables where it's nice to have a picnic And there are clean public bathrooms nearby. There are some historical markers detailing local historical events placed amidst more lovely plantings. The landscape design is quite well executed. While we were there we saw some people setting up for something. When we asked, we were told a church was holding a function in the park later that day. We learned that you can rent portions of this park for to hold events. This park is well-thought out, beautifully built and impeccably kept up. It's a delightful outdoor oasis. read more

We stopped at this park on our way back to Charleston from Hilton Head. We grabbed some smoothies at Common Ground, a cute coffee shop along the edge of the park, and headed to the large, fenced in playground. After playing for a bit, we headed down the walkway along the water. There are lots of swings (they fit 4-5 people) and open areas for people to sit, relax and enjoy the view. I loved the section of the park with the plaques giving the history of the area over the centuries. Great quick (and our first ever) stop in Beaufort- will definitely be back to explore more! read more

I love, love, love all of the improvements they've made to the waterfront. A wonderful brick path is flanked by giant swings that make me want to find a beau and while away the hours in their shade. There's a grassy common where children in perfectly pressed clothes can run and play under their parents' watchful eyes. Of course, they've taken history in to account with plenty of old live oak trees, as any good Lowcountry park should have. I've already seen a few weddings take place under the pavilion, with the stunning bay and marina as the perfect backdrop. And you can always nab a spot on the patio at Plum's or Panini's to sip on a drink and take it all in. read more

The Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park in Beaufort is a great park that is beautiful and well maintained. I really like that this park runs a long length of the waterfront and there are there are perfect views of the water no matter where you are at the park. The walkway along the water is well paved and easy to walk. One of my favorite parts is the swings that face towards the water as there seems to be enough swings for everyone to enjoy even when the park is crowded as this is not the case in all waterfront parks that have more limited swing availability. There is also a lot of grass and green space at the park that is perfect for having a picnic or running around. Overall I really enjoyed this park and want to return soon. read more

What a neat Park! I loved the fact that it was small & cozy, I know a strange word to describe a park but the fact that you can do it in 10 minutes with so much to see. People with their dogs, music, the water & tiny little marina. So cute. Then you have all these swinging benches dotted everywhere just to sit & take in the view. Or you could order carry out from any of the restaurants right there & eat on the swinging benches. It is the center of activity in Beaufort with all the restaurants open to it on the back. It's very well done I have to say. You get this feeling of serenity & calm as you meander through. Even in the midst of winter it's beautiful. I can't imagine how more fabulous it could be in Spring & Fall. So if you are in the area just for a day, as I was put it on your list. read more

The information re: the history of the town was pretty interesting and some nice views of the water and whatnot. Certainly a must visit when going to Beaufort. Beautiful park w vast open spaces right on the huge river. They host many events here.. large open pavilion, a couple areas w tables and chairs to enjoy lunch or well kept sprawling lawn and landscaping to enjoy a blanket picnic or playing w dogs and kids. This beautiful park is the shining gem of the quaint little town of Beaufort. For me, it seems to draw everyone together and instill you with feelings of serenity at the same time. Brick paths curve through the park, with small shops and restaurants on one side and bright green grass on the other. Mossy trees drape over your head and provide shade. The landscaping is simple but beautiful. Another path will lead you right along the waterfront. You can watch boats pass by and enjoy the view of the bridge. The swinging benches looking out onto the water make this the ultimate date spot. The arch holding up the sturdy wood bench, is artfully covered in thick vines. They are so comfortable I could sit here for hours. Things to do : - Sit or play on the lawn - Hang on the benches - Happy hour or dinner at the restaurants - ice cream at YO YO's There is sometimes free music as well. My wife and I were out on our adventure in Beaufort when on Bay street we discovered this park. First thing we saw was the play ground! Massive and it looked like it was a fun one to play on too. We always are scouting areas to bring our grandchildren too and this will be one of them! This park is located in downtown Beaufort along the waters of the Beaufort River. This super large park provides an amazing view of the Beaufort River, the Woods Memorial Bridge, the western tip of Lady's Island, the eastern side of Port Royal Island and the northern tip of Paris Island. Big shade trees swaying in the sea breeze provide a relaxing atmosphere . Other amenities include public restrooms (my favorite)(Very clean and good smelling!), a variety of flower gardens, shrubs and plants, a stage for performances, a pavilion for displays, and a grassed amphitheater for picnicking, band concert or just to goof off. they also have these really cool swings, as a reminder during certain times of the year when it is warm, remember to bring bug spray. The gnats can carry you away! We are bringing our grandchildren here for a day trip in the summer. Stop on by there are plenty of coffee shops that are right on the park, enjoy! read more

Henry C Chambers Waterfront Park was recently rennovated and the transformation was dramatic. The park consist of live oak lined and waterfront walking paths, a children's playground, a pavillion, tables for outdoor dining, several swings overlooking the water, and tons of open green space with breath-taking views of The Beaufort River/ICW. This is a wonderful place to spend time, whether a lot or a little! The long park is characterized most by its wide walkway and beautiful views across Beaufort River, from the swinging bridge (which is fun to watch open and close) to the old homes behind small, tree-lined roads. There're loads of swinging benches along the length of the walkway, hanging under ivy covered trellises, which can be in turn fun, relaxing, or romantic. On the town side of the walkway, there's a grassy park, with a couple playgrounds and lots of space to run around, stroll, or rest, as well as an area that looks like it's made for outdoor concerts, markets, or meeting areas. What a wonderful place to spend time. The park was spacious with plenty of seating. The children's playground was top notch and accommodated my toddler as well as my elementary school-aged child. We walked the bridge and strolled the park for over 2 hours. My son and I enjoyed reading all the historic markers and the bench swings were a unique gem that sets this space apart. This is one of the gems of Beaufort. Whoever thought to put swings for adults overlooking the water was brilliant. We have been in the area for five months and have been here several times. You can just relax by the water and watch the boats and the swing bridge and gently swing the day away, or you can get food at one of the many great restaurants that border the park and eat at the clean well placed tables, or you can take the dolphin water tour that leaves from the dock every day, or you can go for a carriage ride and hear all about the history of the area, or you can shop at the great little stores on the main street. We walked through some of this park after eating lunch at Plums. It is a very nice park with a great view, and swings to sit on and look at the water. The playground is really nice, and fenced to help keep the children from running off to the water. There is a bandstand/shelter that looks great for weddings and other events, right near the water. read more

I grew up within walking distance and have been going to the Waterfront Park for as long as I can remember. They did a huge renovation about 6 years ago, but thank goodness they kept the swings, which are my favorite part of the park. I've spent many hours on them just watching the boats go by. I also love to dine at the many food establishments that line the park. Go grab lunch or dinner and a ice cream to walk around the park with. Then grab a swing and enjoy nice conversation or just the view! The playground is also pretty great if you are at the park with kids. The grassy park is a great place to play frisbee or other games. read more

LOVE the Waterfront park. They take really good care of it. I take my daughter down here often for just "mama/daughter" time. She is 11 and loves the park and just walking on the waterfront. We sit in the swings and watch the drawbridge turn, we walk over the bridge, eat outside at one of the many yummy restaurants. It is great for family time or romantic time with your significant other. We recently took our lawn chairs and enjoyed the Lt Dan Band concert. There is always something going on. They have a lot of festivals, concerts, movie nights, etc. Check it out! We have been here a little over a year and really enjoy it! read more
