I've been trying to find a new primary care physician. I made an appointment with Dr. Edith Jones-Poland for a physical exam. I was a new patient so they were about a month out. I waited a month, drove about 55 minutes to get to the office, and was thoroughly disappointed. Not only had they not booked me a physical (and not communicated that) but I was told that I had to boil my questions down to two concerns as they wouldn't have time to address more than that. The nurse practitioner seemed combative and rude. I was never visited by Dr Jones-Poland. I felt entirely uncared for and decided not to continue my care there, so now I have to start all over again and find someone new. :/ read more

Dr. Edith Jones Poland is about the worst Doctor's organization I have ever been involved with. Her office is about billing medicare. Patient care is not part of the plan. I was called by the office staff to come in for a follow up from the ER after a serious dog bite. The doctor was not available, as usual. The nurse practitioner told me that she wouldn't look at it the wound because they had no bandages in the medical office! She just typed on her computer without even looking at me. From the look of her very long green fingernails, she is not doing any hands on patient care. It was a complete waste of my time. I guess they called me in so thy could bill medicare. Didn't seem to care one bit about me or the wound on my hand. read more

If a doctor, she should not be licensed to be one. Unintelligible answers to my questions and lack of knowledge pertaining to health issues is extremely concerning. She apparently uses AI to respond to your blood results, MRI, etc. so she has little input to convey. Her answer is Mediterranean Diet. Being from Isreal, I've been on that my whole life. The doctor gave the wrong information and was trying to take me off medication that I could not be taken off. She was very unprofessional, got up and walked away from the appointment. Just because I was asking questions of why she was taking me off these drugs. She was going back and forth with different answers. Then she called the head office and said I was rude and told me not to come back. That was great because I was never going back to that place. Also, when I went there the first time. Had an appointment April 26th. Just needed 1 prescription and to have my forearm checked due to a known tendinosis issue I have. They set an xray appointment which I went to that day. The person I saw at the physician's office, Rae, said that based on those findings we may need an MRI (usually the case with tendons). Weeks later, maybe 4, I had to physically go back to try and get the prescription filled - even though I called twice before going in to check the status. Still never received any feedback from the bloodwork and xray I had done. The next appointment (set for mid-June) was moved up to May 26th. That morning, 10 minutes before the scheduled time, they called to cancel the appointment. I called back and set a new appointment for 2 weeks out. 5 minutes later, they called back and said the dr was available for a video call where the Dr. went over my lab results & informed me she would put in for physical therapy and it could take up to 10 days to hear back. Today is June 20th (3 1/2 weeks from the call with the dr) and I still haven't heard back. Good thing my arm is still in pain and it's been 8 weeks since the first visit. Scheduled an appointment with a different dr. Glad to know caring physicians still exist (sarcasm). Not really sure what I paid for. read more

Four weeks ago I called their office as a new patient and I was told that they had to send me registration forms via email for new patients and then I can set up An appointment after I have send it back ok so I did and sent it back straight away, A week later nothing, So I called again and I was told that I have to wait for them to send out another form for me to fill out and send back to them, which I never got so a few days I called again explaining I didn't get the form and I was told it takes a few days so I waited and nothing so I called again and explained again and I was told I would get it in a day or two and again I never did receive this form. I called a third time explained all this to a different girl that actually emailed the form instantly to Me which I filled out and emailed straight back. I was told once this form was received I would get a call to arrange for an appointment so Today I called the office again and explained everything and That I needed to set an appointment to see the doctor and this is s what I got told: Two and a half weeks to see a nurse! (a nurse I want to see a doctor) We can do a zoom call with the doctor in three weeks time. Wow who Needs a Doctor like that, I sure don't. Avoid this place like the Plague. read more

The kindness, efficiency, and pragmatic approach Gabrielle and Dr. Poland have provided time and again over the past 1.5 years have shifted my life completely. It has been amazing to experience being heard and understood by a doctor, and feeling seen as a human rather than an insurance type. Doctor, Dr. Edith Jones-Poland and Gabriela, are literally unresponsive. I've had one initial Zoom appt. with Dr. Poland, and when I had a problem I got Gabriela. I explained my gastrointestinal issues had worsened, and asked if it could be IBS. She ordered the standard blood tests, and an x-ray of my abdomen. Then she messaged me on their patient portal saying I was constipated - well, duh, I already know that; that's why I went to see her in the first place!!! She prescribed me a laxative to use for 7 days, not addressing the fact that this, obviously, is a bigger problem. I never received any feedback about my labs. I found the results on labcorp and I had to look up what each test result meant in order to decipher them myself; I was all alone. These doctors made me feel insignificant and ignored. If you want a doctor, find one that cares about you, and these two doctors won't. read more

How is it good medicine to have been seen by PA's exclusively for the last several years, NEVER Dr. Jones Poland? Recently, I was given a thyroid medication change (by the PA) that caused T-3 Thyrotoxicosis, complete with racing heart, shortness of breath, palpatations, and arrythmias. These symptoms were severe enough to see my Cardiologist, be placed on a Holter monitor, and be given Nitro pills. My work was so concerned they requested I stay home, till I could figure out what was wrong (I am only 54 and work with disabled children - can you imagine the trauma, if I had a heart attack in front of one of them?). Despite the potential severity of these symptoms, a clear warning that these were exactly the possible negative side effects of the medication prescribed, and obviously abnormal lab results, I was told my labs were normal. I called repeatedly and made appointments to resolve this issue, only to be told I was fine! Later, after I had seen 2 different Endocrinologists (at my Cardiologist's request), who both agreed the medication change was the cause, this medical office continued to deny there had ever been a problem, and refused to assist further. I was ignored and discounted by the office staff. Had I continued with Jones Poland's plan of care, I could have wound up in the ER with life threatening Tyroid Storm, and Cardiac Arrest. I will NEVER trust this practitioner with my health again. read more

Now that I've been seeing an Allergist and a Pulmonologist on a semi-regular basis, I have something to compare Dr. JP's level of care and service against. My allergist is more caring, talks to me on the phone (he's in Palm Springs, I'm in Joshua Tree) to minimize my need to travel, and has a gentle, caring manner and is concerned about his patients' health. My pulmonogist is a total prick. He talks at me, he doesn't listen to me, and I drive all the way to Palm Springs to get a breezy three minutes of time with the guy. Also, his front desk nurse is a lazy lump of a woman whose telephone manner has completely alienated more than one of my medical suppliers such that they won't work with her. None of this is in any way related to Dr. Jones Poland's outfit, where I always received cordial and efficient care, for the most part. There are one or two specific individuals who are young in their career and not very awesome to be stuck in a room with, but overall I enjoy the care I receive from the nurses, especially having received hugs from them every time I've visited the office in the last three months. Everything is clean, orderly, and calm here, if a bit busy at times, but given the stress of the medical profession I have to admit that Dr. JP runs at least a three star operation. On some days, it's a four star experience. On some days, it's a sad two star ordeal. But it's never horrible. They processed my referrals in record time, and they have been super-responsive every time I've called to check up on my medications, referrals, and/or overall concerns. Since it's THAT time of year again, and I want a baseline mammogram, I'm going to choose Dr. Jones Poland on purpose, because I have a good feeling, from the hugs to the basic service improvements I've experienced firsthand, I can tell that Dr. JP takes critique seriously and very much aims to perform at the top of her game. Thank you for making improvements, and for the hugs, referrals, and overall kindness. Not being able to breath is a scary position from which to greet the day, and every kind gesture helps immensely. read more

Dr Jones-Poland is amazing. I cannot speak to other reviews I read about her office staff or other Practicing doctors/nurses in her office, as I have always seen Dr. Jones-Poland. She has taken care of me on several occasions when I have been sick and in my opinion spent quite a long time with me asking questions and listening. i never felt rushed. The office is decorated well and very clean. I love seeing framed artwork from her kids in some of the rooms. read more

WOW. I rarely write reviews, but this medical care group deserves acknowledgment. I have not received this kind of personalized medical care in 40 years! From the minute I stepped in Emily the receptionist was so sweet and attentive, Lexi the nurse, spent so much time checking me in and making sure that all my concerns were noted. And the doctor Dr. Edith Jones- Poland had ordered many tests ( because she really listened to me) and today I sat with Annie the nurse practitioner going over all the results. When is the last time you've had someone spend over 30 minutes with you? And she went over all my blood work category by category explaining what the results meant. For many years now, I have experiences an assembly line approach where the doctor has very little time and began to accept this as the way it is now. Their slogan is "personalizing primary care" and they mean it! What a wonderful experience! I am so grateful that I have found this medical group! read more

I called to make an appointment for a complete physical examination and was on hold for about 5 minutes. When the woman, Cheryl or something, finally answered I spoke clearly but she still did that "I don't understand what you're saying thing." She then said, "what type of insurance do you have?" and I said I'd just be paying cash since like most Americans, I don't have heath insurance. "We don't take new patients cash pay." From talking with those in my small town of Yucca and Joshua Tree and seeing reviews here, I see it is just not me, who feels this way. I had the upper hand on LISA due to an error of processing a preventive care bill, almost three years ago. I fought it and I won it, figured I won it as I never did get a bill from Polands office after I caught the mistake the PA made and LISA made, much to their chagrin. Since LISA had to eat crow and admit (although not to my face, she billed in error), she deemed I will not be a patient at Dr Polands office. Getting an appointment with Dr. Jones-Poland is like pulling teeth, you have to be pushy about it and work around her non-existant work schedule which tends to be a month or so away from when you need to get in. Tired of being pushed off to see NP's or NA's, I don't pay $600 a month in medical to see an NP. Dr. Jones-Poland is a pretty good Dr., especially for the high desert so it's sad to say that I will be looking for another Dr. and will drive to Palm Springs to get good healthcare because it doesn't seem to exist in the Morongo Basin. read more

Dr Jones Poland is the worst Doctor I have ever seen and I am old! I put up with her for a couple of years thinking there was none better in Yucca. I have found that there are some very good Doctors in Yucca Valley. She lied to me about tests that were run to charge more money for her other services she has running in her office. She is rude and a liar and will pawn you off to the help and charge you the same for diagnostics. She also looked at a skin sore I was worried about and wouldn't send me to a dermatologist as it was nothing in her opinion. It turned out to be skin cancer. She diagnosed emphysema in a friend that turned out to be his Gall Bladder. He suffered for over a year trying to work on the medication she prescribed. You are taking your life in your hands with this woman. Please find someone else After almost a year of trying to get my test results to a new Doctor he found nothing of what she had told me I had wrong with me. The new wonderful Doctor had had to run new tests at an extra cost to my insurance and myself to check what she said I had wrong. It's hard to believe that anyone could give her a good review. I had been going to Dr Jones- Polands office for three years until last December when I had a horrible experience with her office. I was in need of non narcotic medication refills and unless I made an appointment they were not going to refill them. At the time I had no free time to make an appointment until the 1st of January and needed an additional 2 weeks of medication to cover me until then. I was refused, I went to the office to talk with the doctor and was rejected. They said the doctor had no time to talk to me. Lisa the manager continually rejected my pleas to speak with the doctor about my life saving medications. I told them I was not a junkie looking for their next fix, I just needed enough to get by for two weeks until I could come in. She then threatened to call the police if I didn't leave the office. I was humiliated, and scared not knowing what to do. I do not recommend her as there is no real patient care or empathy at this office. I also never once in my time as a patient was allowed to see the doctor. I only saw PAs. Going to this office is the equivalent of taking your life into your own hands. read more

I would give her a two and a half. The pros: You can get an appointment when you need one not several days to a week later. Her nurse practioners and office help are excellent. They are very caring, willing to spend time with you, address your concerns with hugs and smiles. The cons: The system as set up by Dr. Jones Poland is designed to obtain the maximum amount of money possible. She requires numerous trips to her office for tests, test results, and yet more tests, while you rack up copays and are charged for test your insurance will not pay for. You are encouraged to get tests which are labeled unnecessary by the medical community at large. I am currently looking for another doctor as I no longer have the time, energy and financial where with all to continue seeking this doctor. I will miss her staff. read more

Regretfully I have to agree with the other people rating Dr. Jones. She was my doctor for over 7 years, and only twice did I actually get in to see her this last year.. Her NP's were nothing more than gate keepers with a timetable. The office staff was very nice, however pushing medications from her private pharmacy was irritating, and she seemed more into providing cosmetic injections, than to actually caring for the sick. Then from nowhere she sells her practice without notifying hr patients and assigns them to a doctor not affiliated with our insurance provider. I have changed doctors, as I do not wish to be treated by someone that was not courteous enough to notify me that he had bought my records. read more

Dr Jones-Poland was my doctor for over 6 years. In the beginning, I had private insurance with copays. For the first 2 years, she addressed my needs and prescribed meds for high cholesterol and urinary tract infections. I later switched to a Medicare Advantage HMO insurance. From that day forward, she never saw me again. I was scheduled with a series of PA's or NP's, never the same one twice. I was taken off the cholesterol medicine, and my cholesterol levels have since skyrocketed. She refused to see me in December, saying she wasn't seeing patients "that day." She advised me to go to Urgent Care, which I did. I later discovered she had SOLD her practice, with no advance notice to her patients. read more

My mother has gone to this office for 5 years. She is now 95 years old. All that time she had regular private insurance as she was not eligible for Medicare. Now she is enrolled in Medicare at the choice of the government, however this office will not see her anymore because they don't take Medicare patients unless they have a senior hmo to go along with it - my mother not eligible for that. So.......requested that perhaps my mother could be seen on a cash pay but no, they do not do that. I asked if they could make an exception because she has been a patient for 5 years - no, that would be favoritism I am told by office manager (via receptionist). What a crying shame that this doctor is only in it for the money - but not cash! No empathy for a very old lady that now has just had to change doctors and go through that whole hassle - just took 3 hrs by the time all sorted with new doctor. I am very bitter and twisted that this type of thing happens, it just makes no sense. Some of the reviews mentioned the long wait times, and that is true too, we waited a long time several times, but we did get appropriate medical care. I'm sure she is a nice doctor but we never got to see her or even talk to her. Instead, despite being promised access to the doctor when I was calling around to choose one, my fiance and I were assigned to a nurse practitioner who was brusque and rushed and several times messed up the dosages on prescriptions. When I tried to call the doctor about this, the front office staff blocked my access to her voicemail and said I could only talk to the doctor after the nurse practitioner had talked to her. I've seen other talented nurse practioners before, this review is not to disparage NPs, but when you spend hundreds a month out of pocket, you expect adequate care, which we didn't receive from this particular individual. At that time, we changed to a different doctor, Dr. Hugh Nasr, who is a wonderful doctor, knowledgeable and caring, Harvard trained, a warm and caring staff. Night and day. If you live in the Morongo Basin, I highly recommend Dr. Nasr for your primary care physician. read more
