I have always enjoyed coming to this branch because of the ATM machine that's lets you do anything that you need, whether cash-deposits, check deposits or even withdrawals. And too top things off the virtual assistant comes in handy when needed. But today was different. I've been trying to have a car loan switched over to me for the longest, I decided to stop in today and speak with a professional for some tips or even advice. But no, I was helped with ALL of it. Awful awful bank. Got hacked 4 separate times and had to get new cards. They continuously called me terms I did not want to be called even when asked. Entirely unhelpful over the phone. And their wire transfer fee is a freaking scam. Miguel qnd Yasmin are supervisors and both were entirely unhelpful at best and malicious at worst. I'm convinced the last time I got hacked through my account itself it was an inside job by an employee based on how they conducted fixing it. Enjoy being a customer for over 5 years and told that even though you have $10k and are requesting another $10k loan to purchase a vehicle for your business, they won't help the self-employed. Do you like the mysterious scams where scammers contact you from the bank's phone number? How about generally rude tellers and bankers who make it known that you're interrupting their day? If these sound great, then Educators is right for you. I joined a credit union because they would give better customer service. As of August 2023 I will be pulling my account. 2 charges that I have not recognized came up and I reported it. When I tell you the loops and hurtles I've had to go thru to get my money back is beyond stressful. This is the second time as well. Your money is not protected as you think. I do love Educators but this location is whack. It's all automated and not a little unlike the prayer confessionals in THX1138. There isn't an ATM inside only in the drive through. The last time I got into the drive through it took me 20 minutes, I was actually worried about running out of gas while waiting. I've been an ECU customer for ten years. Mortgage, car loans, HSA's, business accounts, etc. I have autopay for my loans with them. In March, my mortgage payment went up $14. I was $14 short on my mortgage payment in March and they reported me to the credit bureau, causing my credit rating to plunge overnight from 825 to 694. My only "late" payment in ten years. The two robots I talked to at the corporate office said there was nothing they could do. Two more years until that "late" payment comes off my record. Thanks for the loyalty ECU! Although I have been a very long standing customer, Educators credit union has no care or concern for how their service negatively impacts me. Twice now their actions have caused me financial hardship during a time when unfortunately I am encountering personal hardships. The worst part is closed ine of my account with out notifying me in advance which resulted in my paycheck not going through and me having to wait over a week to get paid because my employer would not give me a new check until the original payment way retuned to their account which does not happen immediately, had they reached out to me all of this could have been avoided. read more

I've had a couple of accounts at the Loomis Road location for 5 years. I don't use the ATM at this location because criminals installed a card reader in the past and so I don't use ATM's at all. I do most of my banking on-line, but occasionally, I've had to stop in to the lobby. The first time, a boy scout was there with his parents, set up in the outer lobby at a table. As I walked in, both he and his dad approached me with the purchase list of goodies they were selling, asking me if I'd like to buy something and to look at the list. I was caught completely off-guard and felt that in order to get by them (because they pretty much were in my face), I had to by something. I couldn't even get inside so I ended up buying a SMALL can of stale popcorn for $10! A few months ago, I stopped in again and I had ONE small envelope that I needed to mail because I didn't want to drive around looking for a mailbox or a Post Office location. I asked the CSR if the mail had gone out yet and the "supervisor" (not sure if that was her capacity) butted in before the CSR could answer and said rudely, "We don't mail things for people." I never even had the chance to ask if she could, and even so, I AM a customer! It isn't as though I had a pile of mail or that I make a habit of it. I've worked at several private offices and we always accepted posted outgoing mail from clients. A couple of months after that, I stopped in and there was a young CSR who waited on me. Apparently, she took off her glasses to see the computer screen better, and I made a comment, saying, "Oh, you have to do that with your glasses too? I do too -- sometimes I see better without them . . . " She completely ignored my attempt at small talk and said, "Nooo." Again, I attempted to make a bit of small talk, with her response again being, "Nooo." She never made eye contact, and I don't even know if she said "thank you" because I was really annoyed at her coldness. Those were the only two times she talked. Just "Nooooo". Because I had stopped in to the lobby, I was emailed a "survey." By the Chairman or President, no less! So I gave the questions the lowest rating available. A couple of weeks later, a CSR emailed me because she wanted to know the details of my concerns. I replied to her. It's been 10 days and no follow-up. Their Bill Pay feature doesn't always update the dates you pay your bills. This is the second time this has happened. The first time, I was told that their IT Department was working on it. It took them over a month to fix it. Now, today, the "Live Chat" link/icon doesn't appear, even though it was there months ago, and even though they're insisting that it is. I was logged in and clicked on the "Contact Us" icon, which logged me out and took me to the "Contacts" page on which there was the "Live Chat" box, but no link. Doesn't do much good, does it? And ONE phone number for all of their branches? They DO have the option for a call-back, but you can wait for anywhere from 5 minutes to a half hour. By the time I left them my number for a callback, my lunch was over. Clearly, their customers aren't at all important to them, and I don't know why they get good reviews at all. With a couple of exceptions, they've been rude, indifferent, unresponsive and their phone wait times and website are a joke! I'm done with them and going back to my previous bank where they understand the meaning of customer service. read more

in the last 2 months my debit card information had been taken and used for ridiculous amounts of money. Itnwas never caught by the bank nor questioned. My bank account was drained each time and left in the negative for long periods of time. Never once was I asked about a $49000 charge at a deli or about a $54 charge from a different country. Their customer service is terrible as is the attitudes of the people I spoke with. Zero explanation about future process and when asked what they plan to do to prevent the issue again they said there is nothing we can do. DO NOT BANK HERE!!! read more

They are helpful and threat me and my family with respect, which is better than some other financial places in town (my family has LGBTQ and disabled members who have gotten less than stellar treatment elsewhere. Love love love Educators!! Where do I begin? It was really easy for me to open up my checking and savings account! I was working with Robin and Nick with educators. Robin helped me open up my checking and savings and in the process they gave me a print out of my credit score. They also noticed I had a car loan with a bank and asked how much in interest I was paying. Let's just say it was more than a person should be paying. They were able to refinance my car to get me not just a lower car payment but a lower interest rate! Since I did not have that much more to pay on my car I was also able to use what was left over from the loan and pay off some things in collections!! They were both such a big help and so friendly!!! I walked out of here one happy and relived person!! I honestly don't know why it took me so long to come here! The tellers are also extremely friendly and they are always willing to help you in anyway they can! All in all they took this huge bolder off my back, helped my raise my credit score and helped me the best way they could!! They are awesome! The end! read more

I am a HUGE fan of Educators. I opened an account there when my credit card's interest rate shot up to 23% because I heard a commercial on the radio that one could open a card at Educators and transfer the balance of a high interest card to a very low interest one (must also open a checking or savings account). It worked swimmingly and I've been a fan ever since. I've never been a member of a credit union before, so maybe they're all great, but I just feel like Educators cares about helping me make smart financial decisions. They offer classes, there are always staff members available to meet and talk with you, and I get regular emails with smart tips. Then there are just the small pleasantries like free coffee, free pens that actually work really well, a bright building with lots of windows, and staff who greet me with a smile on every visit. These things just make a person happy The only thing I find frustrating about the Prospect location is that it can be a bit of a challenge to get to by vehicle. It is a great location because it's near other places I visit regularly (like the library and Beans & Barley), and they thought about the parking issue by including entrances both on North and Prospect. There's also a drive through at which I have never had to wait for more than 1 car (even on a Friday at 5pm). But there is no parking lot which can be frustrating. Lastly, there is no apostrophe in Educators. I find this confusing. read more

I have loved this bank for many years. But this year I had to declare bankruptcy due to medical bills. It's been a nightmare. The bank automatically turns off flash cash no one to turn it on at all until I have no idea. But you can't deposit money through online banking. Apparently they turned off shared baking because I was able to use it two times then someone manually turned it off So I can't deposit money into the bank account. They were able to remove it so someone at the back had to turn it off. Like declaring bankruptcy is humiliating enough I have to call now to be able to deposit money I can't go to my local branch because I live in Florida I had been so happy with them I didn't want to switch if I had know how much harassment I would go through for trying to fix I situation I would of dumbed them long ago. I would not recommend this bank to anyone. I agree with their mission and was excited to join, but all of our experiences have been awful. Blocking my account while I'm traveling even when I tell them the dates, messing up my online account and never giving me access to it, their tellers are automated and they go down all the time, sometimes in the middle of a transaction, once after i had deposited a bunch of cash, lots of hidden fees, everything always takes forever because their systems never work, etc. Have heard similar things from friends. I've been a member for about 25 years. The last few years the experience has declined. Phone wait times take forever and when I used the messaging service through my online account, it took 3 weeks to finish the issue because they didn't reply consistently and different people answered. Then they messed up the resolution. The member focus seems to have been lost as the credit union expanded. Rarely do they have the lowest rates. When I purchased my last two vehicles, I became a member at different credit unions in order to get better rates. read more

I have been a customer of ECU for the past eight years and have had nothing but good things to say. Actually, I think the credit card perks could be way better and I will probably move away from their credit card as I think Capital One and Chase are more competitive. So why ONE star? Word of advice. DO NOT DO A MORTGAGE PRE APPROVAL WITH THEM ONLINE. Please save yourself the headache. My husband and I have excellent credit, great jobs and are first time home buyers. When we filled out the application and it asked for our work history, we filled out his box to be "Self Employed" because he is an independent contractor. We spoke to educators twice and asked if that would be a problem and they said no. So when we listed him as "Self Employed" they asked for the two years work history. Filled that out. We thought it was solid. However, we wish that there would have been an automatic pop up with a discretion saying, "if you have only been an independent contractor for less than two years, you will not be approved for a loan." So when we filled out the work history and showed that my husband was doing the exact same job but just became recently independent for four months, this was held against us. Credit means so much in this country and we never would have authorized a credit pull if they would have told us that you need two years tax history as an independent contractor. And that should have been the first thing to pop up when you scroll down and click that you are Self Employed. Of course we called to dispute this unfair unwritten rule. And of course the manager Chris stuck by the system instead of seeing the flaw and trying to create a solution for the customer. And I've been with them for eight years. read more

My wife and I have been members of ECU for many years. Doing business in person is a nice enough experience, however, our experience with their online offerings has left much to be desired. For example, many times you will not be able to do electronic deposits from your iPhone or Android device, especially on weekends when you're most in need of phone-based transactions. Another area of concern for us is their lack of current debit/credit card technology. Despite the fact that ECU promised to covert to chip-based cards in early 2016, it's December and they have still not made the conversion. Because more and more business and personal financial matters are conducted online and from mobile devices together with the security concerns of using non-chip cards, we can only give ECU two stars. read more

I've pretty much had it with this place. I have several accounts at Educators, and they still charge me for a freaking money order from my own account. The employees are unprofessional. I requested a $10 roll of quarters. Well, first, I had to interrupt Natosha's and Amari(???) conversation to get some help. Natosha then pointed me to the desk behind me to get the quarters. Oh, but when I turned to get the quarters, she said I couldn't pay with the cash I had. They had to go into my account and withdraw the $10. What??? does that even mean??? Isn't this a bank? Why does the teller need to go into my account when I have provided identification and verified that I have an account there? Her attitude was real funky and pretty much put a damper on what had started out as a good day for me. My list of issues grows every few months with this place. Even though I have several accounts at Educators, I bought my car through another financial institution because they gave me a much better interest rate to work with, and Educators is supposed to be my bank! This place is hit or miss, mostly miss. Their processes are inefficient and backwoods. I do not recommend it. There are other credit unions in the city that will respect you as a customer, and not try to milk you for every little request, i.e. money orders. read more
