I was confident that there would be no issues meeting deadlines with the seller. My rationale for subtracting stars: After looking at three properties, I asked my loan officer for multiple loan estimates. Upon asking her for the third estimate, she called me and nearly demanded a justification as to why I wanted another estimate. She followed up with a warning that "interest rates are rising" and eventually raised my estimated rate from 2.75 to 3.25 percent. Luckily, I was working with another lender, and locked financing at 2.5 percent. Dyer claims to be a mortgage broker. Why was a first-time home-buyer able to secure a better rate? Where was the comparative analysis on which lenders have the best rates? Why do I need to justify requesting estimates on multiple properties?
