An excellent idea that absolutely did not execute. I'm pretty sure I understand the angle that they were getting at, but they just didn't quite get it. The interior needs to be redone, it's just plain dirty and old. Grimey is the word that comes to mind. You order up front, get a beeper and come back when your food is ready. They stash the water and silverware near the front but it's not managed and is dirty. The food selection is reminiscent of the us diner feel, but it's still not quite right, yes they have pancakes but where are then blueberry pancakes? Or the eggs Benedict? Or the BEC sandwich.... the bagels were the absolute best part. They were great. The omelette I got was close to inedible, it was just riddled with oil and salt. The people who worked there looked absolutely miserable and I felt almost bad being there. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone, especially an excited American who thought they'd get a little taste of home. But I appreciate the representation? read more

I am giving a low three star review and judging from the other reviews, both high and low ratings, it all boils down to 2 things. If you are an American or not and what your expectations of an American breakfast place is. It is consistent in that it is as mediocre as when I first went years ago, but they earned another star for their consistency, which I think partially accounts for the lines. To Expats I know the homesickey feeling and the desperation and hope when we want a taste of home. I moved to Sweden in 2002, back when you couldnt buy turkey, cranberries and Libbys canned pumpkin at Ica Maxi. I had to go to the English shop to their American shelf way in the back corner to buy my peanut butter and Spam. Thank God those days are over, even if it's too bad the English shop closed. Their offering of pancakes with maple syrup, over fried and cold eggs and greasy bacon and the bagel offering is a comfort to expats who are desperate and can't cook. Thanks in large part to this place I learned to make pancakes, muffins, scones, poached eggs and omelettes and overcome my fear of frying food to make crispy bacon. I lived in Sweden till 2014 but I still gladly spend my vacations there. We hardly go out on weekends for breakfast anymore. Never got the bagel thing, but I just suffer till I get back home to the US. For American tourists, don't waste your time or money, nothing to see here folks, if you live in the US, there are MANY better choices at home. Instead try a Swedish style breakfast, buffet or cafe. For Swedes who think they are trying something exotic, I think one word says it all IHOP. This place is not American style breakfast place and not very good. Also, if that is the concept, maybe some American style cheerful or sassy service. Research YouTube videos of Alice and you may get the idea. The decor is more Happy Days, diner but not as cheerful. But I think the appeal can be that it isnt the typical boring (to you) Swedish breakfast. It also is a great location, near Linnèplatsen, Haga, etc and on the sunny side of the street. When I do walk up that way for a breakfast, I continue to the French boulangerie across the street. Some of these American reviews are so snobby. Excuse me, I am American and living in Gothenburg now 10+ years and am happy to actually have a place that has an American style breakfast. The pancakes have a great texture and taste pretty good. The everything bagel I had was definitely my favorite thing on my plate. The bacon and eggs were decent. Maybe a little over cooked, but at least the egg yolk wasn't hard. I recommend this place if you are missing home and want some pancakes or even a bagel. The decor isn't anything amazing and when I went, there was a line out the door so get there before 10am. read more

I used to think this diner was ok for American style breakfast. Used to. I revisited this morning after one year away. I guess it will take at least two years until I bother to go here again. Sadly. I suppose they changed bagel distributor. They used to he so proud of their bagels and what effort they made to find the best bagels. Their bagels were indeed the best. But either the baker lost the spirit or, they changed. The bagels are nothing special at all. Any longer. It is still the most stressful environment. Everyone seats themselves before ordering at cashier. So do the same if you want a place to sit. Tables are clotted with trash. Syrup is fake. I read you have to pay for butter... Scrambled eggs were more like broken omelette. Well, if you feel for a American styled breakfast in a diner and don't mind flaws, I guess this place isn't so bad. They do not accept AMEX. read more

Tried the brunch menu, it was a decent American breakfast. Nothing disappointing and nothing that blew my "taste onions" (nb! swedish expression) away. Everything is what you would expect in a regular diner in the USA, with some maple flavoured syrup and good pancakes. I've definitely had better pancakes in both Sweden and in America, but that has usually been in trendy restaurants with pancakes as their signature dish. If you want to get a proper feel of an American diner this is a good start, and a fairly accurate representation. Make sure you select bagel type and tea before reaching the cashier. read more

The reviews on this restaurant haven't been fair. What a nice experience to have American style brunch complete with pancakes and waffles topped with whipped cream and berries along with numerous egg dishes in Gothenburg. I live in San Diego and the food here compares to any good little breakfast spot in the beach towns of SD. Come grab an American style breakfast if in the area, the coffee and other fare won't disappoint! read more

I enjoyed the menu here, I went for the brunch special which included a bagel (I recommend the spinach) with cream cheese, american style pancakes with a choice of maple syrup, herseys chocolate or carmel sauce or fruit jam, yogurt or fruit salad and tea or coffee. All for 99kr. Really good value! The staff were super friendly too! I have taken a star away because of its decor, its a 50s diner style which is cool, however the whole place feels cold and a bit cheap, Maybe there is a bit too many tables and a lot of wires in view but it wasn't somewhere i wanted to stick around for long. Otherwise this place is a winner for me food wise. I'd defiantly come back read more

Not so hot What they did right: pancakes are good, lots of blueberries. Good selection of bagels, and a choice of breakfast foods. This is a somewhat befuddled interpretation of American breakfast, but many of the usual suspects are here: eggs, omelettes, bacon, pancakes, fruit, yogurt, cereal, coffer etc. Old-fashioned decor and boothes. Looks like a diner. What they did wrong: Lacksidasical service. No smiles. Come on! Wake up and be friendly!! $0.75 (5 SEK) for butter to have on pancakes!!! Outrageous. Coffee was terrible Expensive: pancakes + bacon + coffee = $20! Menu on signs above the cash register are confusing and disorganized. No service at the table, but it's a small place downtown: they probably can't pay servers and it would be too crowded, so that's ok. Bathroom was revolting. I was the first customer of the morning and I had to ask them to clean it for me. They took ten minutes to get around to cleaning it. read more

Every menu option includes a bagel, even if you are getting pancakes, which is just weird. Therefore, I have never ordered a menu so this review is limited to: American-style pancakes. If you find yourself in the mood for American-style pancakes and are disinclined to cook, this is the only place I know of in town where you can obtain said pancakes. They taste like American pancakes. I've had better pancakes, but not in Gothenburg. If you were after the bagel itself, you might take yourself to the more chill Bönor and Bagels a few blocks away on Linné. read more

Not quite the worst breakfast I've ever had ... but close. Reminiscent of institutional food. How could the get it soooo wrong?! Great name, good location, diner decor is a novelty here and continued to the waitresses in peach diner uniforms but come on guys ... Food? ... I guess you could describe it as such. me and my family used to come here a lot a few years ago every saturday. but we stopped going because we noticed that the pancakes weren't as good anymore, we asked one of the staff about the pancakes and she said that they have started making the pancake mix the day before serving it. we kept on going a few more times hoping it would get better, but it never did. not sure how it is today but I highly recommend that they change it. making it the day before made the pancakes look kinda grey in the inside and not as fluffy. This is one of the few places where one can get American style brunch in Gothenburg. Is the brunch good by American standards? No. It's pricey, the portions are small and some details are off (no real maple syrup). On the upside the bagels are good and the place looks charming albeit small. If you are looking for American style brunch and you don't want to make it at home, adjust your expectations and this place will be ok. read more
