She has a super positive attitude which makes my voice lessons fun and productive. Connie's most common students are learning piano/keyboard. I've watched her with children and she is excellent at keeping them interested in their work. I tutor kids myself, I can say she's really good at communicating and encouraging children. She teaches a lot of kids but I see adults there as well. One thing I really like to do is go to the recitals she hosts. At these recitals she allows the opportunity for her students to perform for an audience of parents, friends and peers. I've actually played my violin at one of the recitals and she allowed me to bring a bunch of friends so we could make up a band! Having received professional vocal training for high school, college and community productions earlier in my life proved invaluable, and I wanted my daughter to have a similar experience and really learn the technique, discipline and *joy* of effective performing/singing. Laurel was incredible- not only was my daughter sounding stronger and better within a day of her first lesson, Laurel taught her some hacks for how to deliver on those high notes that usually require head voice, how to handle diphthongs and so much more. Her approach is joyful and fun and this - coupled with her experience and getting actual noticeable results- made my daughter excited for each lesson. I think she's one of the owners and walked me through the store and explained all sorts of classes they offer. I'm interested in Tahitian workshop that they newly added and once I figure out my schedule I would love to join the class. She explained that all the instructors are very culturally correct and that's very important to me when it comes to learning. The floor has a pretty large space enough for probably 10-15 students to dance in. I would love to watch the drumming as well. As for the Tahitian class, I was told that they have anywhere from 5-10 drummers and that's very exciting! I can't wait to see/hear it soon! I parked in the next block but I saw plenty of street parking and it's right on Main St. and was easy to find. It totally took me instantly back to my Burning Man experiences...can't wait till that either...
