Shoppers Drug Mart - Plenty of parking

My good friend lives in this neighbourhood. He told me about his local Shoppers Drug Mart (SDM). I…read moreremember going eons ago. A couple of Saturdays ago, I was heading home from the east end of Toronto. I needed a drugstore and remembered this one and decided to pay it a visit. When driving northbound on Woodbine Avenue, you turn left just before you hit O'Connor Drive to get here. There is plenty of parking in front of SDM. I backed into a spot steps away from the entrance and walked in. At first, this store's layout looks the same as most newer SDMs. You see the beauty boutique first. I looked at all nail polish colours. The variety was great. The vitamins section was nicely organized. There was a sale going on. No complains. Travel items and tech accessories are decent. With the latter, it favours Apple products more, which can be a bit of a downer for Android users. I rarely give any SDM a glorious review, but this store deserves full marks. What sets it apart from others is that it has a mini grocery store. It was my first time experiencing an SDM with fresh produce and more. I wish that Markham had this grocery store subset in any Shoppers. I'd be happy. I reckon that we don't because we don't have a 24-hour SDM. This store is open around the clock. The bread section was awesome. It featured Ace bakery items. I loved the produce section. Everything looked fresh. It was like being in a mini market. I saw T&T bakery goods. They were mainly almond cookies, but I was thrilled to see them. There's even a meat section. Wow! The extra thick-cut bacon was eye-opening. I think of those working rotation shifts and how great this store is for them. I ended up getting a few items: - Armstrong herb garden cheese in stick form - Cucumber Lay's chip - Chicken caesar salad The only weird thing was trying to pay for groceries at the self-checkout. It doesn't work well if you scan the barcode on food. I got an error. Instead, I abandoned the rigidity of scanners for a human being. She was great. I scanned my PC Optimum barcode and then paid with a debit card. Done! I thanked the woman and headed out with my goodies. I had the chicken caesar salad for dinner. I loved that there were separate trays for the lettuce, cheese, croutons, and chicken. You essentially put everything together before you enjoy your salad. It was super fresh. I was impressed. So much for the brief healthy kick. I had half the bag of cucumber Lay's while watching the hockey game a couple of hours later. Delicious! I love cucumbers and to have that subtle flavour captured in chips was brilliant. I ate the rest of the bag the following day. The Armstrong herb garden cheese are sticks that are individually wrapped. I normally don't crave eating cheese on its own, but I love the herbs in this cheese. Delicious! This SDM has a post office. It was doing swift business when I was here. I love this drugstore. I look forward to dropping by again when I'm in the area. (189)

My rating is 3.5 stars. I'm rounding up…read more I used to frequent Shoppers World often when I grew up in the Beaches. Recently, I needed a Shoppers Drug Mart (SDM). I was in the area and decided to visit this one at the mall for sentimental reasons. I came here on a Saturday. It was busy here, but I still managed to back into a prime spot in front of SDM's entrance. I headed in. The lighting felt the same. It wasn't super bright. It had a touch of dimness wherever I walked. I was hoping to pick up a dozen eggs. To my dismay, this store doesn't have any eggs, let alone dairy. Craving milk? You're out of luck. Wanting to make ghee at home with a brick of butter? You'll need to hit the Metro two doors down, or the Loblaws or Fresh Co a block south. I am so used to seeing eggs, milk, and dairy alternatives in the fridge section of any SDM location in my area. It was weird not seeing them at this store. I liked the clearance section that was across from the checkout area. There were some decent deals. I ended up getting some pop. I went for a human at the checkout area to pay for it. I asked this woman how she was doing. She had two hours left on her shift and she was not feeling great. She freely let me know that she was 63 years old and wanted to go home to relax. I hoped that she felt better with some rest and that she was so close to ending her shift. It felt like coming home being back here. Folks are open and friendly. I kind of miss that sort of interaction in Markham. I find that most folks in my area don't take the time to have a quick conversation with others. It was refreshing talking to this woman. I got my PC Optimum card scanned. I then paid for my items with a credit card. I tapped and was good. I thanked her and left. I ended up placing the pop in my car's trunk. I saw a man coming out of SDM and he had dropped something. The cashier who wasn't feeling well came over to pick up the item off the ground. Kudos to this woman. She needs a raise and some rest. She's the reason why this SDM gets four stars. Come here for kindness, excellent customer service, and beverages galore. Don't come here to get your dairy products. (231)

Everything we looked at was very expensive. We didn't have to deal with Service because we used a self check out so we didn't have to deal with anybody. It is quite a big store. They do have a big variety of things.
