EGLISE SAINTE MARTIN (Soulliac) In the ancient church of Sainte Martin in Souillac we visited an art exhibition. Just as well the 11th/12th century church was desaffectee en 1829" as some of the art was rather racy. It was a mixture of photography, painting and sculpture. Pieces were reasonably priced but I didn't see anything that I liked enough to purchase. Exhibitions continue throughout the summer here and the tourist office for this small and pleasant town is also located here. read more

This church is no longer used as a church, which, as an atheist, is my favorite kind of church. I was visiting the small town of Souillac when I stopped in to view a photo exhibition. The exhibition itself was pleasant if not wholly remarkable with a selection of colorful and pretty images (I appreciate when towns have nice events like this) and the interior of the building very characterful. It's definitely worth a look if you're in the town. read more

We needed somewhere to eat on our way driving down for hols near Cahors…read more Saw the big car park at the back and went here (to be precise, we actually first went to the hotel resto on the opposite side of the main road - but since nobody could be bothered to even welcome us in, show us a table...they were too busy with their own conversation, we walked straight out and over to here) Mistake We wanted something simple...there was a burger...my partner is not a cheese person...it didn't mention cheese...there were perhaps 4 different cheeses splattered all over this poor burger....they said it says "lard"...and? that's not cheese, that's the bacon...they scraped them off and she ate what she could. Mine was the same and I like cheese but it was still far too much...burger paysan, beware They gave her a free espresso There must be better places
