Frankly, if I'd taken the drive directly there for this, I would've been disappointed. But I coupled it with a trip to Reelfoot Lake State Park, so it was fine. It was the home to a 1300 year old tree that was acknowledged across the nation as the largest tree east of the Mississippi River, and the largest cypress tree in the United States. The park was opened in 1973, and lightening struck and killed the titular tree in 1976. The park still holds the name to this day. It has a singular trail, a .38 mile paved path with tree identification. It has a garden that is overgrown and not taken care of very well. It also has a playground, a ballfield, a picnic shelter, and a boardwalk. It was a unique experience, and worth it if you're in the area, but it is not a destination.

I needed to use the restroom and I saw the sign for the Paris Landing State Park so we stopped. I am so glad we did. This park is LOVELY!!!!! The waters edge is gorgeous....and there is a swimming beach. Tons of picnic areas with grills and lots of fishing spots...and tons of people fishing. I need to get my fishing license and so does Tony. I want to go back here to swim and picnic this summer once my daughter arrives. There is NO charge..it is all FREE to enjoy!! SO WHY AREN'T YOU???? get out there...take pictures and leave reviews...enjoy the state parks and let me know what you think.. I love to share and I love to see what others are enjoying

The State park is well taken care of however the areas are all separated and must be driven…read morebetween. Lakefront camping spots have no electric or water access. Bath house near lakefront camping has bathrooms but no shower. The lake front camping spots are gravel and are going to be rough on your tarp/tent/airmattress/feet. Happy Hollow looks fantastic and I definitely would've loved to stay there. They have hook-ups, bathrooms, and showers. There is no longer a playground at happy hallow like it shows on the map and lists on the website. We went to Eva Beach recreation area and there is a playground there but it's about a 12 minute drive from the campgrounds. The recreation area had a sandy beach, but a foul smell and the water was very dirty. There are 2 large factories that make a humming noise that can be heard from the campgrounds and constantly seeing the large plumes of smoke from them on both sides of the lake ruins the nature side of things. The cabins were nice. Lakefront camping spots are not kid friendly - lake on one side and a road that people fly down on the other. I personally wouldn't recommend this park especially for families but if you have to stay here then stay at happy hollow.

We love you, Patsy!…read more What a moving moment for me to be able to visit the crash site and memorial of Patsy Cline, Cowboy Copas, Hankshaw Hawkins, and Randy Hughes. I was visiting alone, and a random dude in a truck pulled up and parked right next to me, didn't even get out of his truck, so I got a little spooked and didn't get to stay as long as I wanted. I'm so very glad I made the drive out nonetheless.
