Danielle, Tara, Makayla, Lucy, and Ann each went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and cared for. Whether it was answering questions, checking in before and after, or simply bringing warmth and positivity into the room, they made what could have been a stressful process feel easy and reassuring. This team doesn't just provide excellent medical care they definitely create an environment where you feel valued, understood, and safe. I genuinely believed that no one could fix my condition, I had terrible wound scars all over my abdomen, but I was mistaken. Dr. Mark Lowney possesses remarkable skills; his hands seem almost magical. He is also exceptionally compassionate and attentive to his patients. I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone and would not hesitate to undergo surgery with him again. I always feel at ease talking with her; she really makes you feel special and cared for. She is thoughtful, kind and compassionate. It took me several days of attempting to call and being placed on hold for 20-30 minutes before finally hanging up just to verify an appointment. Physicals are very quick and impersonal and it does not appear that records like past levels of cholesterol are kept. It's on the patient to monitor whether or not cholesterol levels are going up or down after getting them tested every year.

The art of…read morelistening I once worked with a doctor who told me that he wanted his own doctor to be like Goldilocks's porridge. When I asked him what the hell he was talking about he said that he preferred doctors to be not to hot or not to cold. In other words not just out of med school because they don't have experience and not just about to retire because they might be a bit burned out. My doctor at East Greenwich Family Practice, Dr John Slattery, is indeed like fine porridge. He's old enough to have a lot of experience but not old enough to stop caring. Perhaps his finest quality is the ability and desire to listen. He will patiently listen to my stupid complains and then make comments or suggestions. His examinations are complete and professional but with a sense of humor. When he noticed I have quite a few scars from various mishaps he said that I should think of them as memories or souvenirs. Good idea. The light hearted approach helps things go by quicker and easier. It can be a bit difficult to get through to the office because nobody ever seems to answer the phone and for some reason things like prescriptions and faxes to the pharmacy can take longer than necessary. However the actually interact with Dr Slattery has always been excellent.
