Despite the name, there definitely aren't 1,000 steps it's closer to about 250 but don't let that fool you. You'll still feel the burn on the way back up! I love bringing my kids here because they're soccer players, and running up and down the stairs is an excellent workout for building endurance and strength. I usually only make it up once because it's no joke! If you're looking for a free cardio workout with a beautiful ocean view, this is the place. The beach itself is gorgeous, with clear water, soft sand, and stunning cliffs surrounding it. It feels a little more secluded than some of the other Laguna beaches because you have to make the trek down the stairs. That's part of what makes it so special. I've visited several times around 6:00 AM, and it's always been peaceful. It's never felt crowded, although you'll definitely see other people getting their morning exercise on the stairs. I've also gone during summer evenings around 7:00 PM, and it's still a beautiful time to visit with cooler temperatures and incredible views. I still need to check it out around midday to see how busy it gets. A couple of things to keep in mind: there are no lifeguards on duty at all times, so be cautious if you're swimming, and the climb back up can be challenging, especially if you're carrying coolers or beach gear. Wear comfortable shoes for the stairs and bring plenty of water. Overall, this is one of my favorite beaches in Laguna Beach. Whether you're going for a workout, relaxing by the ocean, or enjoying the incredible scenery, Thousand Steps Beach is absolutely worth the climb.

The whole harbor is decorated with holiday lights, sea creatures, some have bubbles. There's holiday music being piped in through the lighted tunnels. We didn't know what to expect so we just drove up, looked at lights, and then came home. Next year, we'll make more of an evening out of it. Plenty of restaurants around! Worth checking it out. :)

We drove back out to the Main Street and followed what appeared to be an increasing amount of Christmas lights to find the actual place. The pictures I've seen of this place had me thinking it was a huge event, but upon attending, it was just Dana Point harbor decked out in aquatic-themed lights. It's definitely a nice 10-minute walk, I just expected more. It's a place with some cool photo ops and worth checking out if you're in the area!

Out of the 840 California coastline miles, Laguna Beach only boasts about 7 miles of it...but what a beautiful & scenic drive!!! Hubby & I love driving through this city filled with stunning, resplendent views, quaint boutique shops, wonderful restaurants (with fetching menus) & cafes, charming little hotels, exquisite galleries, etc. There are plenty of parks that fit & line Laguna Beach: Laguna Main Beach, Crescent Bay Point, Heisler, Treasure Island, Picnic Beach, and of course, Crystal Cove- which is a State Park with paid parking. Due to its picturesque quality, parking is at a premium at this city, come early or suffer the consequences (mostly metered parking on public streets). Our favorite places to visit here is Jedediah Coffee, Urth Caffe & the Number 3 restaurant (which is temporarily closed until April 2025). I would love to explore Crystal Cove again & hopefully stay at their renovated cottages (you have to reserve in advance), pricing ranges from $228-320/night, max. 7 nights annually). Living in California can be such a blessing.... and pricey! But sightseeing is FREE (except for the gas!). Visit Laguna Beach, explore, enjoy!

What is bunnyhenge? How do you spell bunnyhenge? And the rest is history. Props to my boyfriend for researching new places to take me. Bunnyhenge is one of the cutest spots he's found. It is located with the Sculpture Exhibition Civic Center Park in Newport Beach. There is a free parking structure for the area. I wrote about the overall sculpture exhibit in a separate review. So I was looking for a bunny. I thought it was the first bunny I saw. Then my boyfriend told me it's suppose to be multiple bunnies, and in a circle... you know... bunnyhenge like stonehenge but with bunnies. We continued to walk along the trail and then we saw it. A circle of bunnies. The bunnies are all super cute, and some of them have different colored eyes. Very picturesque and unique. It's a free attraction and it's cute. I highly recommend it if you're in the area.

It took quite a while before anyone came by to offer water and bread, and even then we had to ask three separate times before it finally arrived. My girlfriend ordered the salmon, and I went with the eggplant parm, a side of penne with arrabbiata, and a glass of Pinot. The salmon arrived undercooked, and by the time we flagged someone down to send it back, it still didn't come out right. She ended up eating a small portion and some potatoes. My eggplant tasted like something you'd get at Olive Garden, and the penne had no flavor at all -- clearly boxed pasta. I sent it back. For dessert, we ordered a cannoli and decaf coffee. The cannoli shell was extremely hard, and to top it off, the restaurant started playing salsa music -- great for a Mexican restaurant, not an Italian one. I apologized to my girlfriend for such an uninspiring dinner. We paid, walked next door for gelato, and that ended up being the best part of the night. To many in Orange County, this place might seem fine. But I've spent time in Italy and grew up eating authentic Southern Italian food made by people who cared at a restaurant in Indiana-- fresh eggplant, handmade pasta, real ingredients. Most Italian restaurants in OC simply don't measure up, and unfortunately Romeo Cucina proved that again. My first choice was Nick's for their excellent salmon and mashed potatoes, but they were fully booked until 10pm -- which tells you everything. If anyone knows of a truly authentic Southern Italian spot where the owners care about quality and service, I'm all ears. Otherwise, I'll keep searching. Tagliolini with shrimp and mushrooms - 2/5 To be fair, I've never had tagliolini before so I don't have a reference point of how it should be and maybe it's just not my style. The pasta was thin and flat and very very soft. There was absolutely no bite to it whatsoever and felt like it might be over cooked (again, I'm not expert so maybe this is how it should be). Because of the texture and size it kind of was just one big soft clump on the plate. The shrimp and mushrooms were nice and I enjoyed the sauce but I really didn't like the pasta on this one. And I know plating have any affect of the food but this one seemed really sloppily thrown together and I was pretty sad when it was put on the table. Definitely wasn't pretty or exciting to look at. Pappardelle made w/ beets in quail ragu - 4/5 We really enjoyed this pasta! The pasta itself had a subtle sweetness to it from the beets which made it much more interesting than your typical pasta dough. It had a nice chew, which is what I was really missing in the other dish. The quail ragu was yummy, although we did find a bone but it was large enough to easily pick out and put to the side.
