Food was delicious!! Ambiance incredible! We highly recommend enjoying a romantic dinner on the beach at El Alquimista.

We enjoyed a stay in the hotel and often ate breakfast and lunch. Very enjoyable and the beach area is not to be compared with others. It's like a private beach and cove in the town.

Restaurant is next to the beach and is candlelit ...

I had dinner with partner and the night was amazing! Food was great (vegetarian options) and the candlelight decor and being right next to the ocean created a very romantic vibe. If I visited Zipolite again, I would definitely return to this place!

    Good food great view

The setting is 5 stars. It goes south from there. Drinks are good, had a michelada that was world class. They use their own mix for it. The food was hit & miss, but again consider the real estate. Service was chaotic and under-staffed, but still you keep coming back to the view. There was one thing worth mentioning, that was a bit strange for a restaurant setting, on the beach immediately to the south of the restaurant, right next door, was a nude beach, populated by mostly old men. Not appetizing. If you can look past that, or maybe that's your thing, this place will be your little slice of paradise.

We have been here twice and I'm just very unimpressed with the food. The first time we had the salmon carpaccio and it was totally lacking love and flavor. Just some raw fish with some capers on it. This second time I asked the waiter what he recommended he said the balsamic tuna, so I agreed, I love tuna. The dish came out and was beautiful. I cut the fish open and it was very dark brown. I thought it was because of the balsamic. Nope. The fish was old, probably frozen and tasted like fishy death. I had to spit it out. The waiter took it back and I had the vegetarian lasagna instead, which was tasty. My boyfriend had the spicy shrimp dish. It was decent but the shrimp still had all the poop veins. You are definitely paying for the view and atmosphere which is magical. For as big of an establishment you would think the food would be better quality though. Might come back for a coffee or a cocktail probably not food.

Such beautiful area. The restaurant is right by the beach. The food is delicious and we were completely satisfied. I will be wiling to come visit again.

Foot steps away from restaurant/ hotel.

A really great scenic eatery with a variety of food. Ceviche, Pescado Dishes, Burgers, Pizza and much more. Very Great price point for all the food and drinks. You won't be disappointed. Take my Palabra.

One of the top restaurants in town! We came for dinner, and then for lunch, and then for breakfast, staying for lunch. First time was Christmas Eve. The tables where on the beach by the water, all illuminated with candles. Beautiful! And the food... from the steak to the sea food, from the tacos to the ceviche. All good! Oh, the ceviche! You eat, you jump to the water, you eat again, Heaven. Drinks good too. The tamarind Margarita was a little too sweat, though.

The large lobster in my review !!! Comes with an equally large side of salad I didn't even touch .

Great restaurant right on the beach in the midst of that chaos ! Very relaxing and romantic ambience. The swings are a nice touch , they come in handy after all that food ! Lol Food took a while to come out but it was well worth it . Portions are great . Lobster was the most expensive on the menu @ 960 pesos ( the large size ) but like I said it was worth it . Ask for Eric the waiter if you need someone who speaks English . Glad we found this place .

The glass of orange juice was freshly squeezed and very large! The prices were very reasonable. I will definitely be back to this restaurant.

Delicious food - small portions - OK prices for the area - customer service was hit or miss…read more The shrimp skewers were very good but after two small skewers and a small scoop of garlicky mashed potatoes I was still hungry ... I was surprised how good the fish burger was ... the fish was so high quality it should have been called a grilled fish sandwich rather than a burger ... Would have been good to have another option instead of french fries though ... nice if you could have chosen another side ... like applesauce or salad maybe... or steamed carrots or broccoli idk ... I always look for healthy options I do miss the herbed oil they had before since the salsas they served with the bread were much too hot for me to enjoy and the bread could have used much more of the herbed sauce they drizzled on top ... would have also liked if they toasted the bread a snitch more too but it was good bread We especially liked the non-alcoholic drink called "Pinada" which is a slushy of pineapple and coconut ... it's a must .... they made it right away the first time we asked for it but when we asked the second time before our food was even delivered they did not give it to us until after we finished our meal so we had to cancel the order ... not sure why it can sometimes take so long but not really professional to serve it after the meal when we asked for it before the meal We would come back here to try other menu items ... am curious about some of their vegan selections Full disclaimor: the female waiter wasn't very friendly ... she looked annoyed (with her clenched mouth and lack of eye contact) the entire time and the little dude was a lot nicer and actually acknowledged you as a person ... he was maybe too accommodating thought and it was not necessarily for him to get the chairs for us ... he meant well but it kind of made it harder to sit down with it moving and all It is nice also to have the choice of indoor and outdoor seating ... good place to watch the superbowl as they have the large screen upstairs and nice that you can see then grill your food in front of you ... also general environment although there is a dog who sadly looks at you while you are eating and it makes you feel a tad nervous ... the dog doesn't do anything though just sits there in the off chance he gets a treat

At high tide, the water occasionally comes up to your feet :3 Seating isn't the cleanest, there were cigarettes on the floor and the table had drink residue... Service was a also bit slow, first took a while to take our orders and even longer to deliver the orders. We were maybe one of three parties there... The drinks themselves were fine. Not terrible, but I think we've had better elsewhere.

I found out that they actually don't start serving pizza until the late afternoon. I've been craving a pizza for months, and the only good pizza that I've experienced so far was in the capital city. For lunch I selected the two tacos de res. The tacos were made to order and they were excellent. The best thing about this restaurant is the ocean view. The complete side facing the ocean is open to the beach. You get the breeze, ocean surf and sea salt smell, and adequate sun. The restaurant is protected from the sun and elements. I could literally sit here all day, however I didn't notice any receptacles to plug in and charge. I also don't know if they have WiFi here. There is an adjacent hotel that is part of the establishment which I'm sure is nice for the guests that stay here.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the Cesar salad at this place!…read more Banana's has the best Cesar salad I think I have ever had. And I have had some really good Cesar salad. One of my faves is having a Cesar salad at "Keens Steakhouse" in midtown Manhattan. YUM! It's hard to top that. However, this Cesar salad in the stone bowl with the hard boiled egg, fresh shaved Parma cheese & super fresh anchovy dressing keeps me coming back here just for that. The other thing I love here is the pizza dough & scratch Italian bread they make. The pizza dough is very very good when it's cooked properly. It's old world style, just like in Italy. Super light thin crust with air holes, that is slightly chewy where the "crusty edges" turn that blistery charred black omg so good :)... They also have a fun little personal size pizza that is PERFECT for sharing as a appetizer or a meal for one. LOVE the small size of the personal pizza! Yay! If you ask, they will make you a seafood pizza with local fresh shrimp & chunks of fresh fish WOZA! So YUM! What I don't like about this place is every time I order the pizza (and I do tell them to cook it extra crispy) "well done" every single time, it comes undercooked. Every single time I have to send it back to have it cooked twice. It's very good when they cook it crispy but I should not have to ask every time "well done" & STILL have to send it back to be cooked more bc the bottom of the pizza is raw. AND I do lift the pizza up & show them that the bottom is indeed RAW. Total fail. Bummers :( On a positive note I have heard they have great breakfast here but I have never tried it. My Girlfriends have brekkie here & they like it. (For me, Virginia's has the best freakin breakfast in Port & it's the only place I will go) They also make one of the best margaritas on Zicatela beach here. I always stop by for margaritas at some point, and they are always great. I have never had any problems with service & they do accept Credit Cards, which is a plus, since I lost my debit card in the ocean. Good times. Lol While Banana's might not cook the pizza enough for me the first go round they have always corrected it no questions asked. Hopefully they can work on the pizza cook time in the future & I can update my review. In the meantime, I highly recommend their Cesar Salad & Margaritas! Recommend for lunch & dinner. Credit Cards accepted!
