We came here cos we got tired of tourist pizza and tapas crap. My Spanish can get me a meal (given I grew up in NYC and learned Spanish since I was 6 years old) so why not. They have the cheap and cheery no frills menu for 9.90 EUR. There's no paper card menu. You gotta understand Spanish and know how to read this menu on the blackboard that seems to change based on the day (perhaps). Then you order with the waiter. Cool service, they proceed our order in a good time even when they were busy. Very friendly. For the starter, we got the soup, really nice. Then for the main we got the churros pescadoes (fried fish) which is basically fish with chips but unlike the British version the fried batter is less crisper and softer (like the Chinese fried fish version if you know what I'm talking about). It also comes with a bebida (drink) so we ordered a beer. I cannot guarantee the same if you decide to go in there without any knowledge of Spanish. You may get the colder shoulder or slow service but that's cos this is really a local's restaurant, nothing in English and none of this pizza or hamburger menu for tourist. Three stars for decent service and good local food. It isn't mind blowing so hence the 3 stars, and I wouldn't go out of my way to come here... but I'd come back here again only if I'm in this town. Cos it beats the other tourist crap I've seen.

But the outdoor seating is shielded with glass sheets against wind and exhaust gas. So I took a seat. The waiters were all friendly but had difficulty speaking in English. Nevertheless we managed. I ordered the Beef Tenderloin with plum sauce and marinated potatoes. The dish arrived and the meat was medium cooked as ordered. It was tender and delicious to eat. The plum sauce had just a hint of plum, so that I mistakenly thought I got a morel sauce and thus the wrong dish. Together with the meat , every bite was a delight. The marinated potatoes were almost white and had just the right amount of salt. Although they were not crisp like French Fries, they were weary tasty. I accompanied the meal with one glass of Duero. I finished with a dessert of caramel cream, topped by whipped cream. It was great but I had to concede defeat at the last couple of spoons. Together the whole meal and a bottle of mineral water plus coffee cost me 27.50€. A bargain for the quality of the meat.
