The program curriculum kept me so busy that i had no time to be bored or depressed. I loved it, it was exactly what i needed. My mother died, I drank again. When i was finally ready to quit for good because the alcohol was killing me, I called and left a very detailed message about my situation and my desperation. I received a call back that same day and was told they had a bed for me in two days. If you want recovery and are serious about living, then I highly recommend McAlister institute. They have something for everyone. The program i went to was Kiva. I have recently celebrated 18 months of sobriety, and for someone who started drinking at the age of 6, i think that says it all. I thought I was going to die a drunk. I would like to mention that over the course of my life I had been in many different programs since the age of 14, I am now in my 50's, and sober. Thank you Jeanne McAlister for starting such a wonderful organization!!

They apologized to me for having been called homophobic terms They said they would speak to him (who knows if that would happen) . Then you just wait and wait and wait some more, even if you have an appt! It's actually kinda sad that someone who is already committed to them, gets put on the back burner. After 6 weeks of the program being in great hands with the staff and community for API I feel a million times better and I would highly recommend anyone going through deep trauma, depression or anxiety to participate in the inpatient program.
