The best restaurant in San Cristobal ! Food is excellent! Speciality of the house is SOUPS! From veggie , seafood or meat . The drink house called POX is delicious. Just to start Chips , salsas and refried beans. OMG avocado, cucumber and lime Salsa is the Best. The green Salsa is great but very Spicy. The Barbacoa Caldo is really good. Service = Excellent Price = 89 pesos , very affordable! Love the place

Best place to eat any type of caldo in San Cristóbal Chiapas . Very small place not a lot of tables so if you go here please expect a wait time . But it's worth it. Dint took a picture of the servings but go find out for your self not going to be disappointed.

So here is my review of El Caldero. First impression: place looks neat and well taken care of. They are very attentive and friendly. Pretty awesome atmosphere. I ordered the "caldo de mole" I believe is called. Great flavor and plenty of meat. My mother who was visiting with us, didn't like her caldo (maiz) and they quickly changed it for something of her liking without buts or whats!! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who's visiting SCC. The mango smoothie was extraordinary!!

Yum! One of our favorite restaurants in Sancris. Love the soups of course and the tacos. Probably impossible to have a bad bite here!

My friend and I enjoyed a phenomenal seven course meal here. After living in Mexico for over three…read moreyears, this place served up one of the best tamales, best moles and best tacos I've ever had. The ambiance is simple, yet classy. There are two dining rooms, one private/VIP dining room that can seat about 20 people and the courtyard, which is where we ate. The kitchen was preparing mole with an electric food processor out in the courtyard. Our waitress offered to seat us inside to avoid the noise, but we didn't mind. The seven course meal with a wine and beer pairing came out to about $1550 MXN/person (about $70 US). The wine and beer pairing was well worth it. They're not shy on the pours. We got 4 full glasses of wine and they started stacking up (the next course would come out before I could finish the glass that was supposed to pair with the previous course). That said, the pacing was appropriate. I did not feel rushed. The wine was a combination of 3 Spanish and 1 Mexican. The beer was a local craft lager. The portion sizes were about right. I didn't leave feeling super stuffed nor unsatisfied. They even threw in a few complimentary tacos before the dessert, and a palate cleanser between the appetizer and main course portions of the tasting experience. Overall, this is one of the best meals I've had in Mexico. My buddy even thought the mole here was better than at the famous Pujol in Mexico City. I think I agree.

The place was packed and they advised to come back around 11 PM (they don't take reservations). We returned shortly before 11 and got seated within 15 minutes. The vibes here are very chill and the place is super classy. The two man band was very relaxing and the place has a log cabin feel to it. We started with the sangria, which was so delicious we subsequently ordered two pitchers of it. We ordered the tuna tostadas to start, which had the potential to be excellent if they weren't so salty. For mains, we split the arrachera (hanger steak) and the paella, even though each dish was advertised as being prepared for two people. The paella was excellent. Well prepared, nicely presented and just the right amount. The arrachera, on the other hand, came out raw. I would normally be fine with this, especially considering I ordered it rare, but at the very least, I like a sear. They weren't able to do that, even after serving it to us on a hot plate. So, I decided to ask for a separate hot plate to sear it myself, which took 20 minutes and did not come out hot enough. Ultimately, I decided to throw in the towel and go into savage mode and just eat it raw, except at this point it was now cold. The only reason this place is getting 3 stars is because of the ambiance, the service, the sangria and the paella. In fairness, the menu is quite large and I'm basing this review on only 3 items. So, take this review with a grain of salt, or if you're ordering the tuna tostadas, extra salt.
