In the area for a youth soccer tournament and some of the families decided to have lunch together at El Canalla. Mostly because it was one of the few places that would take a rather large group without much notice. We were a party of 9. They seated us upstairs in a private room. Service was friendly and quick. We ordered the Pan con Tomate, the Fried Aubergines, the Mini Truffle Burger. We thought the burger would be a little bigger or that we would get multiples but nonetheless it was very tasty and juicy. The Aubergines which were sliced thin eggplants, battered and fried were delicious. Great way to eat your veggies. Overall it was a great meal and everyone left full and happy. And the wine always tastes better when in Spain. read more

We chose this lovely tapas place in a plaza close to the Barcelona Bustouristic Sarria bus stop and it was delicious! The shrimp, the calamari, chicken croquettes, eggplant with honey...OMG eat here! Right in front of a church, and by a lovely bakery. We loved it! There is outside and inside seating. We really recommend it! We had enough for a light lunch sharing 11 tapas and abortlw of wine for 91 euro. read more

Dearest Canalla, how can you possibly be related to Tantarantana? I made my way here in quiet Sarrià on a weeknight and was SO excited what I recognized their menu design was identical to one of my favorite restaurants Tantarantana in El Born (MUST visit). We ordered the usual suspects - the croquets, fried calamari, patatas bravas, squid, pan con tamate. I was so confused while I was eating it - too much salt, oil, half baked potatoes, lack of flavor. So underwhelming. The average chicken croquettes were a stunner compared to the rest of its lame companions. And then.. the main course. I ordered the roast lamb with potatoes and chimichurri. Where is the chimichurri and more importantly where is the salt?? Must've used it all on the patatas bravas. It was so terrible that I just took it to go because I couldn't digest a bite. Return? Yes, because I am in denial. You cannot be related to Tantarantana and be so mediocre. This has to be a one off case. read more

Our most delicious meal in Spain. Very friendly service with waiter equally happy to serve us in Spanish or English. The wine was wonderful. We loved everything: grilled calamari, anchovies, hummus with beets, burrata (incredible), yes we had the mini hamburgers and tacos, both excellent, the artichokes - all was amazing. What a waste of time. I understand that Sunday evenings aren't big restaurant nights, but it was when we were in Barcelona and if you're not going to serve your customers (like at all, like not even a glass of water after sitting at our table for 20 minutes) then why bother to be open or accept reservations (which we had)? Also, perhaps it should be mentioned somewhere that the famous grill menu, the whole reason to go to El Canalla, is not available on Sundays. A miserable experience. We left without ordering (did I mention not even a glass of water after 20 minutes?). 40 Euros in cab rides with not a drop to drink or a bite to eat but the best money I ever spent. Ate at the Edition Hotel (which is a truly wonderful place and where we stayed). Don't waste your time at E Canalla like we did ours. read more

Los huevos estrellados un poco sosos (las patatas mas bien cocidas que fritas), la ensaladilla rusa aceptable, el solomillo con foie pequeño pero muy rico, y el ultimo las setas con espuma de patata trufada muy ricas...pero por casualidad siendo un especial del dia en la pizarra no salia el precio y te clavaba unos 16€ en la cuenta. First time in Europe and i realized that yelp is not as big in Europe as it is in the states :(. I knew to come here because of Eater38 and so glad it was pretty close to our hotel. We walked over around 1:30 on a monday and we were able to get sat. Aside from their traditional menu, the very friendly waitress handed us a daily menu which seems to change with their daily specials. My husband got the curry chicken thigh meat with rice and salad which was tossed in a mustard dressing. I got grilled chicken breast with rice and warm pumpkin gazpacho. For appetizers we got thai chicken popsicles and russian salad. Everything was delicious, my dish even came with a glass of wine! The ambiance was really cool for lunch or for a drink at night. I love this place! It is located in Sarria, a very village-like area, and it's the perfect place to eat some local food in a non-touristic ambience. The restaurant is very cozy, with very original decoration, familiar ambience and very friendly staff. The menu is varied, with high quality food, with typical catalan ingredients and fresh products. I would particularly recommend the sobrasada, the tartar and the huevos estrellados. You can find cheaper restaurants, but the quality of the food and the ambiance of the restaurant is definitely worth the price! I would recommend it for dinner with friends/family/couple. read more
