I bet it rocks in the summer. We were there in winter Jan 2016. Weather was perfect! Warm days, and cool nights. Enclosed parking lot is dirt, but they rake it often so it looks nice. Shower was great, plenty of hot water & all that. Beds were good, but bring your own blanket if you might get cold. Room has cool ceramic tile floor. There is an on-site restaurant which was not open during our stay. There IS Wifi, but don't try too hard to get on it before you ask for help. The written instructions were way wrong & you need to connect to a different wifi network to get the password to work. Then the wifi only sort of worked anyway. Front desk was very polite, nice & helpful. I would stay there again anytime. Oh, well there was one problem. I sort of hate to mention it because it's beyond the control of the hotel and it might not affect you. Some fools on the hill were jamming super loud throbbing dance party music all night. Maybe a nightclub or just a party? I dunno, but bring earplugs just in case & you'll be fine. Too bad, because everything else about this hotel was better than most. This hotel is easy walking distance to "The Strip" at the beach and we walked there for dinner & again for breakfast.

First of…read moreall...a paper map would be a good start...The person who handed me the ONE key took my phone and placed a point on Google maps on my phone...It was gone by the time we crossed the highway. We drove around looking for a "Casa Gardenia" sign on a house. Found the house only by chance...my spouse saw a little sign on the electric meter structure. Now for the fun: 1. It was in the 50's outside. The only working heat was 2 portable heaters...the home does have 5 mini split units but the heat mode on these simply didn't work. As a result, we spent most of the first two weeks sitting around in coats.... 2. The fridge had some ailment..we were told a repair person would make repairs the next day. He was there for parts of 2 days and left a mess for us to clean up and left. 3. When it finally got warm enough to enjoy outside air...we couldn't open any windows except one because the screens were all missing except one. Without screens the flies were really bad. Strangely, the owner had taken over the garage (which I assumed we were going to park in) all of those windows had nice tight screens. 4. Window coverings are in sad shape..some did work, but some did not work at all...kind of a drag in an already dark house. I don't take having to give a bad review lightly...I have personally been involved, either directly or indirectly in the vacation rental business for 25 years. I understand the need for all parties to watch their expenses. But with the exception of no heat, all of the issues were small. One of the duties of a vacation rental manager is to see that the homes are ready to rent. Things like heat, working window coverings & screens are are necessities and are an owners problem. Getting repairman to clean up after themselves is a management problem. AND if an owner will not cooperate and make the necessary repairs either you should advertise the property honestly naming all of it's shortcomings or drop the property from your inventory. From what I heard during our month in EDR, MySanFelipeVacation has let down quite a few vacationers this year. Perhaps it's time for some competition.

We got a 2 queen bed room on the ground floor. The beds were super comfortable, and well appointed with cozy blankets. That was a warm welcome as many of the dive motels throughout Baja do not have adequate blankets for the unpredictable cooler winter weather. The room was nice and large. We had our little dog with us which I guess is technically not allowed but they didn't seem to mind as we were not the only guests with a small dog. The shower was hot and there were plenty of towels. The only downfall was the TV & satellite television didn't work. We were given 2 remotes (Mexico is very controlling with remotes) to the TV & satellite box but they didn't turn on our tv. We tried to do it manually but the satellite box didn't turn on. At any rate we did not get TV but that was fine we were tired so we just crashed out. We did get a lovely sunrise in the morning! We enjoyed hot coffee and a tasty breakfast at the restaurant. The dog had a great time playing on the beach before we loaded up to continue our drive.

Like "it's my bday and if I want to have a good time at the hotel for the day it'll still be perfect." And it was. I didn't want to risk it with a sketchy motel and I'm glad we didn't. 1)The people were nice and the rooms are beautiful and clean. That's all I'm looking for and if you at too this place is great. They have from basic rooms to king suites depending on your budget yet still cheap compared to the states resorts. 2) It's right on the beach 3) Wifi is a struggle everywhere in Mexico that's not full tourist town (Cabo, etc) but good here 4) Restaurant in house. They closed early the night we were there because it was slower season but we didn't hold it against them. One of the men at the front desk offered to grab us something on the way to pick up someone from town and brought it to our room. It was the best room service I've ever had. It was delicious and great hospitality if I've ever seen it. I'd definitely return We considered stayin close to the central "strip" before booking but though some of the hotels there were nice and they're close to all the restaurants and bars, they weren't quite as nice of a feeling we wanted to relax. This place was definitely one of the best San Felipe has to offer.

Noted: the drive is very long so we decided to book a room in a hotel. It was letting us know ALL hotels & Rooms were book except 1 room in Las Palmas 3star hotel or 1 in San Felipe Marina Resort. We took the chance and decided to Book a room at San Felipe Marina Resort the room was a total of 4 rooms! Which was the only one available. The rooms were beautiful! Clean and a beautiful view. Our room didn't have a refrigerator as my in laws room had a refrigerator and other amenities. Not a big deal since we had a cooler with ice the entire time! The hotel is on the beach. The beach was less then 2 mins walking distance from our Jr Suite hotel room. The service was what really sucked. The "young" boy who checked us in had the worst attitude ever as if it was an inconvenience we were checking it. He forgot to include the free breakfast ticket that we needed for the next day to get the breakfast before had. We walked ALL the way on the other side of the resort for the free breakfast and also order additional food we would pay which was no biggie. The lady was cleaning the floor still and the restaurant Was opened for 2 hours already with no one it. We needed a slip ticket to the free breakfast so we had to walk ALL the way to the other side of the resort again to go to receptionist and ask for the ticket since the boy "forgot" to give it to us. So we walk back to the restaurant and turns out " Free Breakfast" is actually only fruit OR Apple OR Orange juice. One of those 3 choices only. Which was really disappointing we ended up just getting the kids one Apple & One fruit small plate so they can share. We ended up leaving and stopping somewhere else to get breakfast. So Free Breakfast is really ONE free Snack. Overall, I give a 3 stars, a very relaxing quiet resort, just poor customer service.

There had…read morebeen an electrical fire (no fire alarms at these bungalows, bring your own) and the units nextdoor had been destroyed. Other things that made our stay less than ideal: Thin walls (could hear the conversations of guests behind the wall, hardest mattress I've ever slept on (other than camping pad), hot water in sink took 5 minutes to arrive, chipped doors and cabinets, no fridge or safe in the room (and just a flimsy door lock), not enough bottled water and not even a tissue box, cracked shower floor, dirt on walls, no beach towels or enough beach chairs and poor customer service. I complained about the rating (3 stars on most websites but really should be 1 1/2) and the noise, but the receptionist didn't do anything and told that the manager was going to be there in a day or two and I should talk to him. The manager didn't do anything to make things right (a discount would have been appropriate) and blamed the owner for not allowing him, other than to give a discount toward the next stay (will never happen). I emailed the owner two days ago and she also had been briefed by the manager (a relative presumably) and I have not heard anything back. I asked the receptionist to be relocated but we were offered rooms that were almost as close to the construction as our first room. The only redeeming thing about the place was the adjacent private beach that was relatively clean and had nice access to the sea. But not worth the steep price -- camping would be almost as good and a lot cheaper.

Should we stay at the same hotel? Well, the answer to the last question sealed the deal to book our stay Playas de Paraiso because a (ahem) friend of mine saw the old hotel from years prior in a skin flick he came across a few years back. Lots of puns there, but let's just say that this new spot suited our needs just fine. The Playas are located in a condo community just a short drive from the central business district. When we booked, we were looking for a hotel/complex with a laundry facility. Sadly, we learned that only some of the units have washers and dryers, and mainly those are booked through other sites. However, we did have a large room with a comfy bed, substantial living room area, great balcony, fridge, microwave, and a coffee machine. Our room didn't have a hairdryer either, but that really wasn't a big deal. The grounds were also very well-maintained and the pool was beautiful. Overall, a nice, comfy place to rest our weary bones.
