This was a 30 day rental of Casa Gardenia.... First of…read moreall...a paper map would be a good start...The person who handed me the ONE key took my phone and placed a point on Google maps on my phone...It was gone by the time we crossed the highway. We drove around looking for a "Casa Gardenia" sign on a house. Found the house only by chance...my spouse saw a little sign on the electric meter structure. Now for the fun: 1. It was in the 50's outside. The only working heat was 2 portable heaters...the home does have 5 mini split units but the heat mode on these simply didn't work. As a result, we spent most of the first two weeks sitting around in coats.... 2. The fridge had some ailment..we were told a repair person would make repairs the next day. He was there for parts of 2 days and left a mess for us to clean up and left. 3. When it finally got warm enough to enjoy outside air...we couldn't open any windows except one because the screens were all missing except one. Without screens the flies were really bad. Strangely, the owner had taken over the garage (which I assumed we were going to park in) all of those windows had nice tight screens. 4. Window coverings are in sad shape..some did work, but some did not work at all...kind of a drag in an already dark house. I don't take having to give a bad review lightly...I have personally been involved, either directly or indirectly in the vacation rental business for 25 years. I understand the need for all parties to watch their expenses. But with the exception of no heat, all of the issues were small. One of the duties of a vacation rental manager is to see that the homes are ready to rent. Things like heat, working window coverings & screens are are necessities and are an owners problem. Getting repairman to clean up after themselves is a management problem. AND if an owner will not cooperate and make the necessary repairs either you should advertise the property honestly naming all of it's shortcomings or drop the property from your inventory. From what I heard during our month in EDR, MySanFelipeVacation has let down quite a few vacationers this year. Perhaps it's time for some competition.

Yes, I did. In fact, one night I was speeding so fast that I almost missed my turn and nearly rolled the truck trying to get my little working girl to my secret layer! I have now mastered this process like nobody's business and the neighbors didn't seem to mind all the music and noise, so it was all good in the San Felipe hood!

The units are private and clean and the beach is absolutely beautiful! Except this last trip. I spent one morning picking up cigarette butts, plastic bags, broken bottles and washed up plastic from the ocean tide. Sucks to see the disrespect and ungrateful attitudes that goes into our seas.. I was just disappointed to see the litter increased. If you come please bring paper bio products and not Solo cups and plastic..

The two balcony's provided us extra space and views of the Sea of Cortez. The beach is steps away from unit 19 and one of the best beaches in Peñasco. There is a few mile drive on a dirt road from the highway. It's actually well maintained. Any vehicle can make it to the villas. I recommend and will return soon. We did venture out but we were really nervous the whole time. Beach: they do have a private beach, but when its NOT high tide it's a really long walk to actually get to be beach. (Think 30 min walk) Pool rules: In a word they are ridiculous No outside food or beverages AT ALL or you could be charged a violation fee. No outside music or speakers or you could be charged a violation fee. *** FYI the violation fee is about $200. I understand trying to make sure the resort marketable but the fee is steep and also forces you to purchase food and alcohol from them. I think you could also be charged a violation fee if you are intoxicated. Again these restrictions are being applied while you are on vacation. Food: is kind of hit or miss.. breakfast wasn't that great, but dinner was delicious. Pricing was fair. They also are selling units (timeshare) and they're sales pitches are done at breakfast.. it was an odd to witness. The rooms: the bed was basically a cot with a mattress on the top and the bedding was poor quality. The bathroom was nice but the room has no personality no decor. It felt like motel 6 or less. The good: the rate was great, the pool views are beautiful & it's Mexico a quick drive from Phoenix. Te resorts looks beautiful from the outside.

Far from one's idea of a "resort", Laguna Shores has recreated--or perhaps even perfected--an…read moreabsolute suburban hell for the American vacationer. First of all, it has arguably the worst location of any spot you could pick in Rocky Point. It's miles away from any attractions, and its beach is the worst beach I've ever seen--a shoreline with hundreds of feet of rocks before you get to any water, and it's teeming with crabs. The renderings of the beach you see in ads are intentionally misleading. Did I mention it's a two-mile drive from the front gate to your room, and most of the property is just empty desert? Anyway, there's not much to do if you decide to stay put for a day. The pool and its accompanying bar are alright, but can only keep you interested for so long. There's a tennis court on premises, but it was always empty and there seemed to be no way to rent any sort of equipment. Even if you do partake--you will either have to drive or walk 10-15 minutes to get anywhere. If you're hungry, your only option at night is their fine dining establishment. There *is* a convenience store for snacks, but for some reason it's at the entrance (two mile drive!) instead of being embedded in the same area guests actually stay. It makes no sense at all. I would NEVER come back here. It's too far from everything, has dismal amenities, and nothing to do except lounge around the pool. Zero stars if I could.
