For Hubby's 60th birthday, we were Mexico bound. Our normal Baja location is around Ensenada, but we opted for the Sea of Cortez this time and it did not disappoint. San Filipe (pronounced San Fill-E-Pee) was stunning, the people friendly and the food outstanding. The water here is relatively clean too since they have a processing plant.
Every meal eaten at local restaurants was reasonably priced and delicious. Many of the people spoke English and welcomed us as family.
I had chosen this hotel months ago, but we waited to drive around and look at several hotels before making a firm decision. The Sandollar is outstanding! The rooms are spotless and come within fridge, microwave and toaster. The bathrooms are big, but watch out for the raised tubs. The first step is a doozy.
Located on the ocean, they having free kayaks to use, as well as BBQs, a gigantic hot tub on the beach, and a covered pool.
The people are so friendly and helpful. Parking is secure and it's close to town. It's not walking distance, but a short 3 mile drive to the Malecon.
I highly recommend The Sandollar and can't wait to come back. read more
