    Steak tacos

We had a party of 12 and were able to be seated immediately for lunch. The drinks were really good. Chips and salsa were tasty. I ordered shrimp tacos. The food came out fast. My shrimp tacos were really dry but they did provide sauce on the side which made it better. The shrimp was really good but the tacos themselves were super dry. The other people at the table enjoyed their food. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. Overall, good experience.

Fast service, They greated me at the door and took me straight to a table. The waitress was almost behind me as I had a seat... I ordered the El cazuelon very good flavor and the portion well I couldn't eat it all. I Highly recommend this place, if you're in the mood for some real good Mexican food.

Kinda hidden in the side of a strip on hillandale rd. Have been here twice now and I think had the same server. Food and drinks come out quick and are hot which I like. I always ask for sliced jalapeños because I love spicy food. I ordered the queso with chips to start and a medium margarita with tajin instead of salt and on the rocks. I also split a plate with my husband of one steak and one chicken burrito with avocado salad. Very good and perfect amount to eat for me.

    Bug found in plastic covering

Ordered take out & after eating a bit I found a dead bug in the plastic covering of my food. Just a warning that they don't properly check when handling food. Never will be back.

tl;dr Decent food and good portions Ordered: El Cazuelon Walked in for an early dinner. The wait staff was nice and it looked family owned which was cute. I ordered El Cazuelon which I recommend for a first visit because it gives you a sampling of the different meats. Overall the food was solid. Chorizo had a nice peppery flavor but a little salty. The steak was admittedly over cooked so a little rubbery but the ribeye flavor was there. I was most impressed by the chicken which was unexpectedly juicy for a thin slice of breast meat (innuendo unintended). While the food was decent the portion size was ridiculous. Along with the free chips I walked out of there needing a nap.

Best Mexican we have ever had. Been dining there since 1998. Servers are great, taste is excellent and portions are large.

Food was good, your typical Mexican restaurant. Service was good. Ceviche was different, in a good way.

They have a pretty wide variety of options, but you definitely can't go wrong with their tacos! Super affordable and will leave you feeling satisfied and full. Everyone is really friendly and the food comes out pretty quickly. Definitely recommend! Especially their asada, chorizo, and lengua tacos! Will be back to try other things on the menu too. It was okay. - Pupusa con Pollo: I think the pupusas will be my favorite item to get here! - Horchata: Love their horchata; super cinnamon-y and refreshing. Fast service during weekday dinnertime; fine ambiance. 9/10 would recommend!

Came here after the Durham Farmers Market with a friend and wow this place was a surprise. …read more I went with the grain bowl and honestly it is one of the best I have had in downtown Durham. It is built on quinoa and rice with black beans and kale, then layered with corn salsa, tomato cortido, guacamole, and a creamy acevichado style sauce that pulls everything together. It is finished with a crunchy mix of pepitas, nuts, and grains. The balance is quite ideal in my view. My friend had the rotisserie chicken with two sides, kale and slaw, and it was just as impressive. Crispy skin, juicy inside, and really clean flavors. Simple food done right and GF friendly. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared. Prices land right where you would expect for the quality, roughly 16 to 21 dollars depending on what you order, and it feels worth it. My bowl plus side of dark chicken was plenty. A few notes. Parking is what you would expect for downtown, so plan accordingly. Service was solid and friendly, but nothing that stood out. The vibe inside is festive and relaxed, bright and open, and just a fun place to hang out for lunch. Porbably not a special occasion. I also suspect it could get loud when full. This is definitely going into my regular rotation. That grain bowl is going to be hard to pass up next time, so instead of replacing it I will probably just add a side or an empanada and start working my way through the rest of the menu.
