We came here on a Sunday for lunch and really enjoyed it. The portions are great and the servers are nice and well-versed on the menu. The ultimate nachos were a lot. It's probably meant to be consumed by more than one person and I did have leftovers. It was so tasty though. All the protein (chicken, steak, shrimp) was cooked to perfection and still had plenty of moisture in it. The only thing I wish is that they would add beans and rice as a layer to the nachos; however, it was excellent. The six tacos plate was so good too. Loved the carnitas and pescado tacos. They were flavorful and filling. The rice was sensational and well-seasoned. The black beans paired with the rice was also excellent. I will be back. The dragonfruit mezcalito was so good! The restaurant was starting to fill up with a lot of people, so it's a popular spot. read more

Head on over if you like: Very high priced 'fair' food for less than Taco Bell Quality 20 % percent Auto Tip for a party of three and up. Unconcerned Waitresses because they know the Tip is already assured. Constant cheap aluminum chair dragging on uneven cement surfaces, combined with music at top volume while so called Staff resets the chairs and tables while you eat. Getting up frequently to get your own water because the waitress ignores the table. Getting half your order, so the food gets cold waiting 20 minutes for the waitress to get the rest of the order to kitchen. Nearly no close by parking. No concern or respect for the customers they did not like. After spending a small fortune of all you just read, I will make Taco Bell my go to for simulated Mexican food. Coming from Texas, admittedly, I have really high standards for Mexican food. This place is pretty average taste wise but is better than other Mexican spots I've visited in the RDU area, so I would rate it overall a 3.5. It has great value for the lunchtime meals! $8.99 for some solid chicken tacos with sour cream, pico, all the fixings with sides of rice and beans. Black beans were spicier than expected but I enjoyed! Service was good and the ambience is nice. My main grip is with the parking, which can sometimes be hard to find especially during weekends. read more

Be so so careful what you order here. My friend had pointed out these fun margaritas, and we ended up with 40 oz drinks that were impossible to finish and $29.99 at that. Both were overly sweet to me and hard to stomach. I could see this being a fun drink to share with a group but was way too much for one person. Solid Tex mex with solid service. I thought that the chicken quesadilla fajita style that I ordered was excellent. I also enjoyed the spicy rice and salad that came with my dinner. I like that they don't skimp out on flavor! The interior was warm and cozy, but also very echoey because of the high ceilings. I could hear everyone's conversations across the room. Come here for a fun time. When it's warm, there is live music outside which sets a nice scene. The food is good. Nothing over the top, but good. Even at seemingly busy times, we were seated quickly and service was friendly. Definitely recommend the various ACPs - the ultimate was great. Looking for a fun night out with great music and delicious food, this is the place to be!! Met up with friends here for a 6:30 dinner on a Saturday night and we were seated right away. We sat inside and the vibe was fun and lively. The music was great, some may say it may have bordered on being a tad too loud but I'm not complaining because it made the place come alive. There was a a really cool bar inside and lots of outdoor seating. I know chips and salsa aren't really what people critique but I love me some chips and salsa and Mezcalito didn't disappoint. The margaritas as great, lots of options both in flavor and in size. I was the odd man out who ordered a mango margarita, everyone else got the top shelf and we were all very satisfied with our choices. I ordered the Enchiladas de Camaron (shrimp) which were incredible - just enough heat and a whole lot of flavor! My husband got the El Favorito which was 6 tacos, choice of 2 proteins. We typically like to let each other sample our dishes but we both loved them so much neither of us thought to offer. Our server was fantastic! He was quick and attentive and our food came out piping hot. I'd love to say I look forward to going back and trying something new but I loved my enchiladas so much I can't wait to have them again! read more

We had an amazing, family friendly lunch at Mezcalito Durham today and are already planning our next visit back. Walked in with my hasband and two kids around 1:30pm on a Saturday and were sat immediately. A woman followed the hostess and us to our table with complimentary tortilla chips and some of thee best fresh salsa I've had in this region. My three year old who has never really cared for salsa really enjoyed it. Our server Raphael was great, too from our first interaction until we left the restaurant. Was very patient with us as we asked questions about their expansive menu. He made a few recommendations, and was excellent about putting our kid's order in first so it came out quickly. As did the rest of the food. We ordered the lunch sized ultimate ACP, mezcalito burrito, kids ACP, corn, and churros and everything was delicious. Tasted fresh and flavorful. We also tried a flight of margaritas for $17 after seeing their massive, beautifully crafted drinks floating around the dining room. All three offerings were SWEET but definitely tequila-forward, which was a plus for us. The manager also checked on our table and all others around us, which I always appreciate. A nearby table was celebrating a birthday, and their staff came out with drums and sang along. The place is much bigger than it appears when you first walk in, and is nicely adorned with lots of live plants. Good vibes, great food, excellent service! Grate dinning experience, took family to dinner who were visiting. Called ahead to check but they had no wait time/ 6:00pm. However it looks like it gets really busy around 7:30pm. Our server was great she suggested a few margarita choices to start. They are large and xtra large in size, heavy handed pours as well. Food was fantastic, large portions and everything tasted great. The restaurant had a great flow, plenty of Instagram worthy picture spots. We got king burritos and chicken/steak fajitas. Ordered Mezcalito to-go (delivery), and thought it was delicious! Ordered the steak quesadilla, chips & queso, street corn, and steak tacos. I thought the steak on both entrees was a little spicy, but tasty and tender, and worked well with all the ingredients. I enjoyed the white melted queso with the salty chips, but thought the street corn was just normal corn on the cob (they did not put any cheese or seasoning on it). Sometimes it can get a little bit loud inside the restaurant, but you can always opt to eat outside if you're looking for something quieter and low-key. The menu has everything from standard Mexican dishes like enchiladas, fajita, arroz con pollo, and the like to more Americanized fare like wings, mexican style soup, and salad. They also have massive cocktails and drinks that are sure to be a fun time! I've tried the burrito sampler, fajitas, and the Mexican soup. You will not leave hungry because the portion sizes are really generous. Overall, I'd say that the food taste is pretty good. It's flavorful, but my only complaint is that it can be a little bit salty. Nonetheless, the service is always fast and exceptional here, and I could eat a whole basket of the chips here myself. We were there for lunch so we did not get any of them. Some of them do look interesting. The service was great and the food good as well. We got the Make your own combo - chicken taco and quesadilla (see photo), good size for $9.99. Rice was very good which we feel is important. "Excellent Mexican food just of Fayetteville Street north of 147" A friend of mine from out of town recommended this place, so we stopped by on a Wednesday evening for dinner. The parking was not intuitive-- there was a small lot across the street (that I didn't notice until afterwards) and limited street parking. The entrance is on the side opposite Fayetteville Street, and they had interesting "tents" around some of the outdoor seating for privacy/ protection. There's a large bar as you walk in and seating in the next room. The free chips & salsa were excellent-- the salsa especially had good zing to it. Definitely not Old El Paso-- ha ha. I ordered the "Ultimate ACP" with steak, chicken, and shrimp. My dining partner had the steak & chicken fajitas, and we split an order of queso. The food came quite quickly-- maybe after 5 minutes or so. Everything was perfect temperature and DELICIOUS. This was probably the best ACP I've ever had-- it wasn't just rice/ cheese/ meats, but had excellent onions, poblano peppers, and seasoning. The queso was smooth, and my friend said he loved the fajitas. The price was fair for the quality-- the ACP was around $17 before tax and tip. And the service was excellent-- the waiter got us extra chips quickly long before we'd finish ours, refilled drinks fast, took away empty plates quickly, etc., and the manager also checked on us. Overall, an excellent choice if looking for something in the area just eat of downtown Durham. read more
