But if you get their set menu, you'll get a similarly good deal and more food than you can eat.

It won't make you throw your hands in the air and surrender to the Tapas Gods (for that, try Barcelona in Reston outside of DC) but you'll get a good meal.

Staff were great, happy to chat about the culture of the food (if you want to) and happy to teach some basic Spanish if you are up for the challenge. The food, well it was amazing. The choices were great, a real cross selection they also did a black rice paella (died with squid ink) only seen that in Valencia so was great to try. Taste wise everything was spot on, Spanish food cooked in a traditional way. Could have easily have been in a decent place in Spain. Price was great, even got a card for 50% off via a postcard for them to post to a friend/family member. (Or You was even allowed) Over all I honestly don't have a bad or passive word to say about the place, food, staff or prices. One of my first suggestions when people ask about anywhere to eat. MUST GO ............................... 2nd Visit - Just as amazing on the lunch time menu. BEST SPANISH FOOD IN NEWCASTLE

This are definitely made fresh to order. I liked the fact they had morcilla on the menu, it was delicious and I can also recommend crocettas. The tortilla de patatas could have been better, I found it to be like the ones you find in the supermarket in Spain, not the home made ones and it was clear it had been heated in the microwave, however it was still good. Will definitely be going back when I'm up here........... And so I went back and it was awful! The food was gross and stingy on the portions and my husband and I ended up sick after ordering the shrimp. Not sure what happened but avoid this place!

We ordered from the tapas menu (not sure if they have a full dinner menu?) and shared 5 tapas, which was plenty for the two of us. The tapas selection had a great variety, lots of choices. Our server was very helpful when we had questions about the portions and preparation of the food. The cost of the meal and bottle of wine was very reasonable and as expected for a tapas restaurant. I would certainly recommend this place!

The happy hour 2 for 1 cocktails after work are certainly appealing too! Las Iguanus offers authentic Southern American food, catering well for vegans and vegetarians, and with the option of tapas style dishes which I personally love as I'm often indecisive and a bit greedy with eyes bigger than my belly. On my latest visit however I went for the vegetable chilli which was lovely....just the right amount of spice and a generous portion although a bit too much rice in my opinion. My friend and I took advantage of happy hour and had a Mango Collins which was simple but delicious and refreshing. The layout of the restaurant seems to work okay but the table we were sat at had a constant thoroughfare of people passing by which was a little frustrating. One lady even walked past so fast that she knocked my drink over....luckily my reflexes were on fire and I saved my beloved alcohol as well as my outfit! The service again was okay but you could tell they were very busy and so not as attentive as other restaurants I've eaten in.

A worrying amount of feedback throughout Rob Heron and the Teapad Orchestra's album launch made for numerous mildly annoyed ears and some serious death glares from the band in the general direction of the sound man. Having said that, there might have been a problem with the equipment or instruments or cables, and when the sound was good, it did stay that way for a while. I once watched my sound engineer friend set up a ten piece ska band in the basement of a tapas restaurant. Just watching this made for a terribly stressful experience. At the end of the night, he was one giant bead of sweat. Rob Heron's band were on the larger side that night, with additional brass players. So I get that sometimes things might not go to plan. Regardless, it really didn't make the night any less enjoyable and we all agreed that we'd come back to the Cluny in a heartbeat and even love to play as a band. It's a great sized venue with a genuinely homegrown feel to it. From the posters strewn across the wall, it's clear that the Cluny is proud of its local music scene. With a kick-ass kitchen next door and what looked like a knock-'em-dead selection of beer, the Cluny is quite the place for music in Newcastle. Oh, and the floor bounces, YEAH.
