Albert saw a banner hanging from Placerville's Main Street advertising a spaghetti dinner being held at the American Legion on the way driving to my house. Upon arriving at my house, Albert flatly stated, "We're going to eat spaghetti dinner~MY TREAT!" Ok, Albert-Let's Go! I drove my truck to the American Legion Post giving Albert time off from hauling from North Dakota to NorCal in about nine hours, non-stop driving . . . Oooof~My brother is such an outrageous, road warrior-he's INSANE IN THE BRAIN and he STILL wants eating spaghetti? Okay~Whatever, Dude! We enter the building which was packed with a plethora of people wearing American Legion hats, mounds of gifts stacked at every table, cramped tables filled with people stuffing their faces with all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner, loud microphone blasting through fuzzy, inaudible speakers, strange flyers floating about the marijuana initiatives, the smell of spaghetti sauce, vinegar, and bread permeating the entire Post! WOW! Warning, warning: Visual, audible, and olfactory overload, Mr. Rogers-over and out!

We gave our today that you might have your tomorrow…read more "The Sparks American Legion Post was named for Lauren "Duby" Gilbert Reid who was killed in action on October 8, 1918. Lauren Gilbert Reid was born in Gold Hill, Storey County, Nevada on March 28th 1896. Although reared on the Comstock, he was well known in other western Nevada counties where he had a legion of friends. When the call to the colors came Reid entered military service on June 24, 1918. After training he was sent to France to serve with Company G, 308th Infantry of the 77th Division. The unit entered the fight of the Argonne forest on the extreme left end of the line in September 1918. It was the fate of this young soldier to be one of the men in the famous "Lost Battalion". He was wounded by shrapnel and died the next day of his wounds on October 8, 1918. On the gateway of a little cemetery in France is written these words: "We gave our today that you might have your tomorrow." The current Post building was built in 1980." The Duby Reid Sparks American Legion Post 30 is an active Veterans organization of some 160 members. Their goal is to provide important services to Veterans and our community. American Legion Post 30 members support the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, High School Junior ROTC, Operation Comfort Warrior, Honor Flight, and many more local and national charitable programs. They also have a Legion Riders affiliate. The building is available to American Legion members and the public for special events including wedding receptions, memorial services, celebration of life services, anniversary parties and more. They have tables, chairs, a kitchen and approximately 3500 square feet of usable space. Regular meetings are 7 pm the second Wednesday of each month. As an American Legion member, I treasure the American Legion as it is another valuable Veterans service organization.

Veterans MUST immediately visit VA Benefits Office rescheduling with a DIFFERENT Medical Examiner due to BIASED, inaccurate examination!

I have nothing but good things to say about the VA. I'm relatively new to it, but so far everyone…read morehas been kind, courteous, and professional. They've helped me navigate the system, show me where to go, and are treating me for my issues. They are the nations largest integrated health care provider, so you might have a wait here and there, but they will take care of you. They always say thank you for your service. I want to say thank you for yours. It takes special people to take care of veterans medical conditions seen and unseen, and the stories each has to tell. If you know a veteran in need tell them about the VA, they may qualify and not even know it. Tell them to avoid claim sharks who will prey on vets, and try to take thousands of dollars from veterans who earned it, make sure they are approved by the V.A., theres state and federal laws that protect you. you may qualify and not even know it. The VA and veterans groups can help you for free. They are there to help, not hurt you. Many are veterans themselves. Keep it up VA! Thank you all for all you do!

I came in for assistance filing a disability claim, because I didn't trust myself to navigate it…read moreall correctly on the VA website. A word of advice to any in the same situation: go ahead and just call the VA general number, 800-698-2411, for accurate information. This office's 'VSO' I had an appointment with did not inform me of several extremely important aspects of filing a claim, such as the ability to upload evidence myself, which led to my claim's processing being delayed by 3 months. Additionally, she gave me incorrect information, telling me I would not be able to check the status of my claim myself (you can signed in on VA.gov). Very disappointed with the poor quality and detrimental advice being given here. Moral of the story: call VA directly, get familiar with VA.gov as it is a great website.

Whether there are many people to serve or not, expect to wait to be seen for hours! Always only 2…read morepeople at the windows, and if they help someone, when finished, they shut the window and wont see another person for at least 30 min. Seems like there is no on supervising to make sure people are getting helped. And once you do get seen, you're lucky if you're actually helped with your case. The worst customer service. They need new and better people running this place. Everyone is LAZY!
