El Guero's Food Truck which has currently moved to a new and permanent, primary location next to the One Stop Market #2 at 4331 Williamson Road in Northwest Roanoke is one of those few. Specializing in autentic, handcrafted Mexican street food, including a special menu "From the Grill," which includes "Pollo al Carbon" (Charcoal-Grilled Chicken), "Costillas al Carbon" (Charcoal-Grilled Baby Back Ribbs), and "Carne Asada" (Charcoal-Grilled Sirloin). They are also well known for their massive megaquesabirrias, burritos, tortas, and traditional tacos, as well as for their Aguas Frescas of different flavors such as Melon, Piña, and Mango, among others. Their operating hours here are Fridays 11:00AM - 8:00PM, Saturdays 9:00AM - 8:00PM, and Sundays 9:00AM-5:00PM. While primary stationed at the above address on Williamson Road, they occasionally pop up at other local spots like Salem Walmart. One can track their daily whereabouts on the El Guero's Food Truck Facebook Page or give them a call for more information at (540) 588-4944. They also do catering for private events. I visited this family-owned spot for the first time today. From the moment I stepped out of my pearl white Lexus, I was hit with the incredible, mouth-watering aroma of chicken cooking over one of their charcoal grills, and I knew I was in for a treat. I invite you to view my photographs and videos accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and its amazing food. A friendly lady greeted me from the window of the Food Truck and handed me a copy of their menus. Taking advantage of their charcoal grill I ordered their Combo #6 of a pound of Carne Asada (Sirloin) with Charro Beans, Rice. Tortillas, and Sauce. I decided to take it to-go and enjoy it at home with a friend that would be visiting later on. It was a pleasure watching how one of the Grill Masters cooked the thinly cut pieces of Sirloin on the charcoal grill. After he was finished cooking he brought it over to the Food Truck so the lady there could put the finishing touches of a grilled onion and a roasted pepper. I paid using one of my credit cards contactless using my Google Pay. And drove back home to enjoy the meal with my company. In conclusion I highly recommend this Food Truck of authentic handcrafted Mexican street food and am looking forward to returning to try one of their famous Megaquesabirrias.

As you pull up to it, you will instantly notice the grill master smoking ribs, chicken, and steak on the side of the truck. As you walk up to the order window you will smell the savory-smokey smells coming from the grill. The staff at the window have been friendly every visit. You cannot go wrong with ordering anything on the menu. They have the usual staples such as Tacos Traditional, featuring Corn Tortilla, Steak, Onions, Cilantro, and Lime with Hot Sauce, and Tacos Americanos, for those with a less exciting taste. If you like Birria, then you need to try the Megaquesabirria, featuring 12" Flour Tortillas, Birria, Cheese, Onions, Cilantro, and Lime with Consommé and Hot Sauce. Now, all of these items are delicious, but the best of the best are the Costillas al Carbon (Charcoal-Grilled Ribs) and the Pollo al Carbon (Charcoal Chicken). Both dishes are four servings worth and come with Rice, Charro Beans, Tortillas and Hot Sauce. My wife and I love to share an order of these, and we each get two meals from them. And the cost? The Ribs are $30 and the Charcoal Chicken is $24. These are excellent prices for large portions and phenomenal quality. They package the food so well that it is still warm when you take it home, but you can also eat at their picnic tables as well. If you want some authentic Mexican BBQ in Roanoke, VA, look no further than El Guero's Food Truck.

I was traveling with a friend up to Blacksburg so we could watch our alma mater, Virginia Tech, play North Carolina in a big early college football matchup. While driving up from Hampton Roads, we kind of settled on grabbing lunch at Sticks & Spoons Ramen Bar in Roanoke before checking into our hotel and then finally heading out for the game. We made good time and, wouldn't you know it, Sticks & Spoons was closed for renovations. S&S was located at small strip mall - so after seeing they were closed, we noticed Lazy Bulldog across the way. We figured, "Why not?" and headed over. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by Lazy Bulldog's co-owners, Brandon & Erika. They were quick to answer any questions about their menu, and Erika was kind enough to provide their establishment's history. The menu looked incredible as LB offered all kinds of burgers and sandwiches. We ordered the What the Ale Shrooms for an appetizer, which were fried button mushrooms in beer batter. It came with a homemade lemon aioli - both the shrooms & the aioli were delicious. I had the Surf 'N Turf Burger (1/3 lb beef patty, Old Bay fried shrimp, thick cut hickory bacon, lettuce, tomato, Sriracha aioli), while Neal ordered the Garlic Bomb (1/3 lb beef patty, cheddar, lettuce, sauteed garlic, red onion, homemade garlic aioli). Both of us enjoyed our choices and appreciated the excellent service from Erika and Brandon. Our entire experience was fantastic, which came with extra effort when Erika gave us free water while we chatted outside with one of Neal's former professors. LB closes for a couple of hours between lunch & dinner service, so Erika, as she was closing up and leaving, gladly provided the water and some extra produce she had grown herself. Thank you, Lazy Bulldog, for everything! I cannot wait to visit again when I return to Blacksburg! JV

Don't let the name confuse you. Taqueria Rosita is much more than a place where they sell delicious…read moretacos and Mexican food. It's a restaurant with an amazing Hispanic food menu, serving the most popular cuisines from Mexico, Honduras, and El Salvador. This local, woman owned restaurant had it's humble beginnings from a food truck, and now it finally has a location of its own. Conveniently located in one of the establishments on the popular Williamson Road in Roanoke, Virginia, the restaurant enjoys a large dining space as well as a nice size space along side it to rent for private parties as well. This room contains a music and disco lighting system, as well as it's being prepared with a full bar. The restaurant was easy to find because its front exterior is painted purple with a yellow and gray awning, and it's almost across the street from the 7-11 on Williamson Road. There are plenty of parking up front and around the restaurant. As you enter the restaurant through a couple of glass doors, there is small foyer painted bluishgreen with a large gold WELCOME sign high above on the wall, a mirror, a glass table with a lamp and a hand ornament doing the shape of a heart, and some kind of an artificial plant inside a long pot. Then as you senter the restaurant itself it is painted the same color with a long beautiful granite floor (the type you would find in Latin countries) with many live plants next to the front window. As I walked through the long and narrow dining room of the restaurant with booths on the walls of both sides and tables with chairs in the middle they was a family eating on one of the booths and another customer was leaving with a To Go orders. At the end there was a counter where a friendly young lady greeted me and told me to have a seat at any table when I told her I was eating in. I went and sat at a booth. The colorful menus were already on the table of the booth. All the main items listed had photos and descriptions of them which helped greatly for the customers who weren't familiar identify them. I was surprised to find many popular dishes of other Hispanic countries besides Mexico on the menu. Items such as Baleadas, Pupusas, Tajadas con Carne Molida, to name a few. Then my server arrived with a basket of Tortilla Chips, greeted me with a smile and asked what I wanted to drink. I asked her what fruit drinks they had and when she mentioned Mango, I asked for one of those, even if it wasn't on the menu. When she came back with it I ordered El Cipote as my main entrée. It seems like this is a popular Honduran dish. I invite you to view my photographs of the menu to read and see all the items it contained. I wasn't about to visit a Taqueria restaurant for the first time and not try their tacos, so I asked my server if they could prepare me a couple of pork tacos as an appetizer. She was so accommodating that she went to the kitchen and in a reasonable time brought the tacos to me. They looked beautiful and tasted amazingly delicious, full of plenty of meat, and accompanied by cooked onions and a slice of lime. Their Chips with Salsa were also very good and unique. The chips were thicker than any other I've ever had and the salsa had just the right thickness and flavor with little chunks of the ingredients as well. When my main entrée arrived it looked like a Culinary Masterpiece. It was served on a long circular wooden tray and contained: fried pork chunks served with rice with pigeon peas, beans, sweet fried (ripe) plantains, sausage (chorizo), pico de gallo, jalapeño, and corn tortillas. Each item tasted amazingly delicious and together they made for a wonderful dining experience. I believe any day can be made special with a wonderful meal. And this was precisely one of the few restaurants where I have experience this happen. For dessert I ordered a flan, after walking over to the dessert display refrigerator and seeing the size and look of the flan. It was the largest and one of the better tasting flan that I've ever had. While I was dining I noticed that the restaurant had an adjacent party room that they rented out for functions or parties. It had a wonderful music and disco lighting system, as well as a full bar at the end. (They are in the process of obtaining their liquor license). I asked if they could turned the lights and music on so I could get some video clips to include in this review. Watch the clips for yourself. Amazing music sound and colorful lighting system. After I paid the bill with my credit card at the cashier counter, I thanked the manager, who by the way had come by my table to say hello and to see that everything was to my satisfaction, and took my doggy bag they had prepared for me to take home with the food I couldn't eat there, and walked outside to take a look at a truck that I had seen parked their selling some type of fruits. It seems they had a custm In conclusion, I highly recommend this restaurant for all the above reasons.

There were many in attendance and with my family present, it was great to have such a smorgasbord to taste! For starters, all the ingredients are fresh - except the fries - and you can really taste the freshness. Smash burgers were on point and many options left you wanting to try each one. I think we had at least three different ones - including the classic smash, the Kenny smash and the plain smash. All served on amazing soft Martins potato buns. We also had a couple hot dogs - the manhattan and the Star City. Loved the Dr Pepper chili sauce and the NYC onion sauce was a mix of mustard, ketchup in onions and spices and blended nicely with the sauerkraut and spicy mustard. French fries are crispy and battered and cooked perfect. My brother in law ordered the Gahbage plate - a favorite from Rochester, NY and it is not for the lite eater! It is a packed meal of hamburger, hot dog, on top of the fries and topped with chili meat sauce, mustard and a side of macaroni pasta salad on top. Wow. A lot of food!! My sister had the chopped cheese and it was fabulous. We also purchase a couple of cookies that were being offered from a local bakery and they were gobbled up as well. Prices are amazing and felt we could have easily paid more for each item! This was the inaugural kickoff of the food truck and I easily see this as being a favorite in the area. Service was awesome - friendly staff wanting to make you full and hope you return. And yes - we will be following this truck and yes. we will return. Great job!

It's a fair bit away from the Interstate, but I can tell you that it's worth the trek. When we got here for lunch, there was a line out the door and the smokers out back hard at work told us this was the place to be. We got served pretty quickly and found a table. The place is neat and clean with a decent amount of seating both inside and out. The missus had a brisket sandwich and I got the pulled pork with slaw, pinto beans and mac&cheese for the sides. The servings are HUGE and that smoke ring isn't just for looks. The meat was done perfectly with the smoky flavor and not dried out. I also tried one of their homemade sausages. Absolutely fantastic! Snappy casing with a filling that included creamy cheese hunks and a level of spicy that was just right. We pride ourselves in having high standards when it comes to BBQ, and this joint didn't disappoint! We've been to numerous BBQ joints including the famous award-winning Big Bob Gibsons in Northern Alabama and this place comes in well over that. We visited with the owner (Kelly) and had a great experience. The staff we interfaced with were both friendly and engaging. I would give this place 6 stars if I could. Highly recommended!

The daily special was a beef brisket cheesesteak. The sandwich was large, the meat copious, and the cheese was well integrated. I think there was mayo on it, because the sandwich was soggy and runny. I ate one half as a sandwich, one half with a fork. No banana peppers to add to the sandwich. The bread was slightly hard, contained the filling, but not the juices and cheese run-off. Very messy. Coleslaw was just a pile of sliced cabbage. Not much taste. Very disappointed for all the hype. Other than salt, there did not appear to be any seasonings. The meat was definitely brisket, but lost its identity in the cheese and bread. Staff was very nice and helpful when ordering, wait was not long even though there was a huge wave right behind us. Drinks are cans/bottles and you pay per. Would I go back? Not sure, I really didn't get a bbq experience from a bbq joint. I think I will try another joint or two before I go back.

On their time off they work driving for Lyft and one day that I had to take a Lyft, Maximo was my driver and mentioned the food truck, and gave me a copy of their menu that he had just picked up from the print shop. So today, since we are in Hispanic Heritage Month, I decided to go visit this food truck and try it out since the food in the color brochure looked very good and inviting. After being awarded the Triad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And La Cocina de Goyita Food Truck in Roanoke, Virginia, is a perfect example. Food Trucks are not easy to find. Not all of them are in the same place all the time. Sometimes they move around and advertise where they're going to be in certain dates. Oftentimes they don't have a website of their own for us to find their scheduled days and hours of operation or phone number where we can inquire where they can be reached. But La Cocina de Goyita has it's act together. It uses the address and is listed on the web as being located in the Fresh Asian Super Market off Williamson Road. This address can also be found in their Yelp site. The Food Truck is modern and huge size compared to others. It has plenty of parking and one can also park in the parking lot of a strip mall located next to it. If you're in the mood to eat outdoors, it has three picnic tables covered with a tarp to protect from the sun or rain. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and its food, which by the way it specializes in Authentic Honduran Cuisine. On one side of the Food Truck it has its menu with large pictures of the items and their phone number in large print, for I noticed while I was there that they had many customers that called in their order and then came to pick it up. Interestingly enough, I noticed that none of their menus had the prices listed on them. One had to ask before they ordered and if you paid with credit card they will tell you that you would be charged a dollar extra. When I arrived Jose was there and gave me a friendly greeting in the middle of cooking and preparing many phone orders which he had received for pick up. I ordered an Horchata to drink and a Chuleta dish (Pork Chop) as my main entrée. Then I went to eat it at one of the picnic tables. The pork chop was big and thick, well seasoned, and with only a small bone. It was served with rice, refried beans, Honduran cheese, and house salad. To my surprise he also included a large slice of avocado cut in half and a cooked jalapeño pepper. Everything was very good and the price was $16 including the extra dollar for paying with credit card. By the time I paid, Goyita had arrived and I got to meet her. I highly recommend this place for the variety and quality of their food, seasoned and cooked to perfection, and with very friendly service.
