About an hour away from our residence in Costa Ballena, this made for a great day trip. Reservations are highly recommended. We opted for lunch right when they opened. We were seated in the Aljibe section and felt like we had our own private dining room. Lots of choices to choose from! We opted for lamb kebabs, shish taouk (basically chicken kebabs) and the pastela. Everything tasted so good. Lots of flavor in each bite. It might seem that the portions are small, but it fills you up! If you have room for dessert and it is a nice day, go to the cafe next door and sit rooftop. Nice views of the pueblo blanco. Afterward..walk around a bit and explore this cute little white village. We parked in the garage that is about a block away from Plaza de Espana (where the restaurant is located). It is called Parking La Corredera. We drive a subaru outback and it fit just fine. so if you are concerned about your car, that can give you an idea. If you are unable to dine at this place due to no availability, the to go option right next to it has great food as well!

The best part about this restaurant is the amazing atmosphere. As soon as you open your menu, you can read about the history of the place. You walk down tiny staircases through cave like dwellings to find yourself immersed in a whole new world of Moroccan themed decor. The ambiance is perfect and the feeling surreal. The service was great too. Our waitress was very attentive and even refilled our naan bread basket for us. The food is very good! It's just not phenomenal, hence the 4-star review. I expected slightly better with the spices and flavoring. But don't get me wrong, it was still tasty. I will definitely come back. This could be a place for a romantic dinner or a small group of family and friends. Reservations are required and you should plan at least one week in advance.

Arroyo Hondo is situated in Casares, up in the mountains. The road up from the coast way (AP7) is…read morewindling, but it is so worth it. Arroyo Hondo is owned by a japanese woman and her brittish husband, hence the theme of the food is international with asian, moroccan and european influences. During the hot summer most of the visitors are sitting in the beautiful and lovely garden which reminds a bit about Japan exterior. The waiters are very nice and service-minded. We ordered chicken karage to share as a starter (8.5EUR) which was pleasant. As a main course we ordered Lamb chops, Skirt steak with soba noodles, turbot with baby potatoes and monkfish with citronaisse (mayonaisse with a touch of citrus). Approx. 18-22EUR per dish. The presentation of the dishes was fabulous and all of the tasted good. However the Skirt Steak became everyones favourite! The children ordered 2 margaritas that also looked really tasty (really good that they had options for children as well). As dessert it was really difficult to decide since the menu were full of tempting choices. However we ordered baked lemon cake and pavlova with berries (6.5EUR). Both of them really good as well. Why only 4 star? Arroyo Hondo has become one of my favourites in Costa del Sol. Food with modern touch, divine view up in the mountains, service-minded waiters/waitresses and affordable. However, for the last star I would like even more spices in the food and even more WOW-feeling (now I am comparing with restaurants in general and not only restaurants in Costa del Sol). Go here during your next stay. Eat, relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery high up in the mountains! Pay attention: You need to make a reservation at least 2 days in advance!
