It was showing the recovery mode screen at times, other times it was stuck in a loop repeating Apple logo, horizontal flicker, dark. I was very worried about what I may have lost, and I couldn't imagine waiting to get home to try to get it fixed, because phones have become such a necessary part of air travel. I had done some googling on the hostel's computer and it looked potentially hopeless but I took my phone to iFixIt just in case, because of the great reviews they had. Within a few minutes of me getting to the store, the attendant opened the phone and showed me my Home Screen again! What a wonderful sight! He said that he had seen this situation before and it was due to moisture getting in through that horizontal opening at the top of the screen (in this case probably from putting phone inside bra on a very hot excursion), and he could fix it by swapping out a part. I was shocked, as none of my googling had even mentioned this as a possibility. He gave me the option of letting him try to restore the part and preserve facial recognition, which would take a few hours. I said sure, and walked around for a while. As it happened, this was not possible, but I got my working phone back! I couldn't have been more surprised or pleased. I highly recommend this store! Thank you, iFixIt!

I went back and the tech (at Roger Lluria location) set me up with the proper files requested and helped me organize the desktop. I then visited one more time for the transfer and he took care of it to my complete satisfaction. I cannot say enough for the manner in which they handled all the input, criticism and the finances. If I played with the cord enough I could get it to start charging. Well, yesterday it wouldn't charge at all. Faced with leaving on a cruise ship, today, I was really stressing as it's our only phone as Tk's was destroyed in an unfortunate washing machine instance in England last month. I searched Barcelona Mobile Repair online and found several around the city, with Recambios Movil being closest to our apartment. I walked over to the address only to find a closed restaurant and a hair salon. I called the number with an almost dead battery, and through enough English discovered they were inside the building on an upper floor, suite #13. After buzzing the intercom, I was warmly greeted by a very attractive young couple. The guy spoke better English so I told him what the problem was. He quoted me $55 euro, in England I had been quoted $100 pounds! I agreed and pulled out my wallet. He said no, I didn't pay unless he fixed the phone. Very unusual. He said wait 20 minutes and in 15 he came out and had me plug my cable in and viola, it started charging! I took out my wallet half expecting him to start the old "it's going to cost a little more because..." routine but no, $54.90 euro to be exact!

Somebody in the hotel recommended Mac Service as they did the maintenaice for the hotel system. Not only they recovered all my data in only one day (they have a express service if you're in a rush) but I also got a new SSD installed at a great price. Communication was pretty easy as the staff speaks good english. Highly recommended, specially if you're a few days in town and have a accident like mine.

The hotel concierge recommended BCN Moviles so that's where we went and we couldn't have been happier with their service. One of the gentlemen spoke English well enough to explain what they would do to try to clean it in order to keep the repair cost low. He warned that it may result in breaking the screen, the screen protector or the back of the phone. Within three hours, my phone was fixed - and it only cost 30 Euro. Nothing broke. I am very, very grateful to BCN Moviles for their honesty and terrific service.
