Attention from all the servers is definitely here and each offered individual tid-bit on what we ordered. Dozen oysters (or "12 pieces") were meaty and juicy with the right amount of oyster liquor. What's more, I know the oysters hubs and I have been getting on the East Coast in the States are good- but these here in Spain's Southern Coast are mind-blowing. Horseradish and mignonette? They're obsolete in these parts. You will get Tabasco as an alternate (for hubs) and some individually-packaged red wine. It did just fine. Prawns were good but the Sardines were excellent with a slightly crunchy-garlicky exterior. The oysters took it a bit over from what we've experienced during our stay. But come to think of it, comparing the quality and straight-from-the-sea catch to the East Coast, they were worth the €54. Skip the juicy-flavored sangria and go for a red or white instead. The material is the best we've come across, and that's because the owner is a former boat captain with umpteen years of experience on the sea. He knows where his seafood is coming from, what the quality is, and he only has the best which means no frozen boxes from far away which sadly makes up much of the product on the coast. What's more, he's a student of the sea, literally, and is working to fish in a sustainable way. This is how an operation should run and the end result is delicious. The location is spacious and light, right on the port, floor to ceiling windows and a small changing menu (necessary for the changes in ingredients available). 5 stars, absolutely worth the trip, from Malaga, from wherever. In terms of the tapas, the food was good & prices are reasonable (~4-9 EU). We would recommend the chorizo in red wine sauce (cooked with bay laurel leaf which according to Rocio is native to Andalucia). But remember to bring your Euros because they only accept cash. In terms of experience, that's where it makes the difference. Rocio (co-owner) was amazing in every way. She was thoughtful, patient, and super-helpful! She told us how some of the recipes are from her father, who originated from Sevilla. The shrimp in garlic sauce was decent but the chorizo in red wine sauce was better. The staff were all fun and friendly, but never annoyingly attentive, and they have colouring books for my daughter to play with. It's unlikely we'll ever come back to Mijas, just here on a random stop on a random holiday, but if we did I'd definitely come to Oscar's again.
