We rented a class A, it was very worn out and dirty. I usually rent from cruise america and will be going back to them.

I just rented an RV yesterday for a trip across country to relocate my 83 year old grandmother from Miami to Los Angeles. Where to begin.. The office phone line from where we picked up the RV continually rings. You're lucky if someone picks up and you can't leave a message as there is no answering machine. The place where you pick up the RV looks like an abandoned lot - the only reason we found it was because there were a few RVs in the lot. The main receptionist was nice and went through the orientation quickly but was willing to answer questions. She was the only positive part about this experience so far. We were told that the RV takes 4-6 hours for the refrigerator to cool. The reason we are driving instead of flying is because my grandmother needs Insulin that has to be refrigerated and she doesn't want to fly because of COVID. Well, 5 hours had passed and the fridge was not getting cold- not even close. I called the road side assistance number because the office tells you "once you drive off the lot you're in road side assistance's hand". I spoke with two representatives: Sherri and Melissa. After making sure I had done all of the proper steps, they told me that they would look into hiring a contractor to come take a look at the fridge. There is no actual road side assistance. You call the main El Monte number and they find someone to "maybe" come fix your problem. When I told Sherri that we needed the fridge for the insulin, she told me get a cooler as a back up for the insulin. Imagine paying $2,700 for a working RV and being told to go get a cooler. If I wanted a cooler I would have just driven in my normal car with one! The worst part is that when they found a contractor to come fix the fridge- they declined because his rate was too high. Attached is the text the contractor sent me about not coming to service our RV because El Monte didn't want to pay. EL Monte has yet to call me back and it's a new day already. My uncle was able to figure out the loose wires and fixed the fridge on his own. We haven't even hit the road yet and it already has been a bad experience. read more

We had a great time this past weekend in one of the "El Monte" RV's. Getting in touch with the office was a little tough. They really should consider a more direct line. To get them on the phone we needed to go through the 800 number and the Orlando office booked our pick up appointment at 1:30pm. Finding the office was confusing as there is no clear door or signage for EL Monte RV out front. It is housed inside another business. We arrived on time and Mayte assisted us with finalizing the rental. She was pleasant and knowledgeable. She provided us with the contract and helped us choose the mileage we needed for the trip. The pick up & instruction training went smoothly. We did a walk through inspection for prior damage (minimal) and signed off on the condition of the RV. It was very clean throughout and was gassed up and ready to go. I guess we got lucky as the RV was a 2015 unit with low mileage and was in GREAT CONDITION. It ran very well with no issues. We had an outstanding weekend with the RV and would use them again in the future should we need to rent one. The lot next door had several RV's I would say around 20 available for rentals. Having read the other Yelp reviews before arrival we were skeptical but the experience was overall 4 stars and would recommend using them. read more

It's a very BAD choice to rent with this company. Every aspect of the experience was negative and/or disgusting. (1) To begin, the pickup site in Miami, Fl, is nothing short of a junk lot. We passed the so-called office thinking it was an abandoned shack - and entering was no better: a real dump with huge roaches/water bugs (and I am not exaggerating). The woman who does the paperwork was pleasant but had to spray and took a broom to the roaches (twice). Obviously not an unusual occurrence. (2) Prior to picking up, we were given incorrect information (from Daniel) so that when we arrived, were going to receive an added charge because we picked up the RV a day later - fortunately we called Elizabeth (from the central office) who make the correction. (3) We were not given a complete or proper orientation to the operations, i.e., beyond the video, or provided the required water hose adapter - which meant we had to search for one while on the road and pay out of pocket. (4) A day did not go by during the 7 days of the rental that we were not on the phone with the help-line because of one problem or another (and because the information in the Manual was incomplete or contradictory); about half of the time the staff was unable to provide useful assistance. (5) The absolutely WORST aspect of this rental was BED BUGS!!! Obviously, they DO NOT PROPERLY CLEAN the vehicles. We first thought it was mosquito bites until we found the bugs on our pillows (obviously came from the mattress) and identified the bites we got as such. When we arrived at our destination, we had to take drastic steps to deep clean and exterminate all of our linens and luggage. What a nightmare!!!! I discourage anyone who can find an alternative to renting with El Monte to do so. NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

El Monte is a great RV Rental company. The units are well maintained and cleaned between rentals. They have a well organized process and as they are an actual RV Rental company (not an individual owner) they have a nice size fleet of vehicles. All of the staff was professional and helpful. Be prepared to spend some time for both check in and out (be ready for 2 hours each time) when renting. Rv's are not like a car rental or hotel stay. They require some time to go through the basics of how to operate them and become aware of the features. There is also more to look at both internal and external to be sure there is no damage. In the end while the process may be longer than expected it really is for your benefit. I took one star off for having to wait almost 30 min before being checked in and out, there was just one woman in the front working on this however at checkout the manager (maybe owner) came out to help and he was incredible. I think his name was Daniel. Great guy with TONS of knowledge and tips for enjoying any vacation plans in south Florida. read more

The people who work the location are nice enough but we rented an RV and hadMAJOR issues with generator. Roadside assistance is the only way to get help. Called twice and they gave us advice but wouldn't come out and help. Result was an overheated cabin during a very HOT day. Not hot water, no AC, no electricity. Troubleshooted every way we were told and MORE. Was treated by roadside assistance as if we were idiots. Came back to rental place and confirmed problem. Rental folks tried to get corporate on the phone to advise refund and system has been down for two weeks and no one answered the phone from corporate to help. Quite the shit show. Don't ever rent from El Monte again. The people working at this location are awesome. El Monte as a company is not customer friendly. read more

I used this service march of 2016. They dump the RV waste right into Miami Dade storm drains. This is illegal and hurts the environment. They tried to charge me a $75.00 dump fee which was a worker just opening the valve into a Miami Dade storm drain. As soon as I told them it was illegal, they said they weren't going to charge the dump fee. Would never use them or recommend them to anyone ever again. I started to wonder if I should have looked around more before choosing this place when the woman told us not to flush our toilet paper down the toilet.. Who wants to carry their soiled toilet paper around with them? She said it could foul the holding tank sensor and give false readings. I consider that their problem, not mine and they should find a way to deal with it that doesn't involve me carrying around a bag of dirty toilet paper. Aside from that, the RV wasn't too bad. There was no stopper for the sink, the shower door wouldn't stay on the track, the steering felt a little sloppy to me and the auxiliary battery wouldn't hold enough of a charge to reliably start the generator (we carefully followed the instructions in the manual regarding keeping the aux battery charged to no avail). None of these things were too serious for us. We stayed at sites that had power hook-ups. The contract had a clause that I found seriously disturbing. It required the renter (lessee) "To assume all responsibility for the operation maintenance and use of the Rental Vehicle regardless of fault, including the sole or partial fault, of the Lessor". I thought it was one-sided in the extreme to expect the renter to assume responsibility for a problem that was the sole fault of the people who rented out the RV. As I said, the actual RV was acceptable, but I was left with the impression that the company was far more concerned with minimizing it's own inconvenience than it was with minimizing mine. read more

Well it started off on a disturbing note , when I called two days ago they did not give me an actual pick up time I was told to come in from 1 pm to 4 pm to pick up my one way rental. Came in at 1:30 pm to pick up no one knew who I was and they tell me that it's by appointment by the way three people in the office and only one renter . So now we wait outside in the heat due to renters confidentiality ( renters are not allowed to talk amongst each other and exchange travels ) . I really like doing these one way trips they really give family's the opportunity to see this country the way it's meant to be seen on the road ! Moral of the story these rental locations aren't great to deal with the RV are used but provide great shelter and convenient family time together while being on the open road . The staff here on Miami are a bit stuffy but I guess the means to the end is what will keep me coming in . I'll tell you more one I get the RV .hope this helps good luck and safe travels . read more

Well, first off I would have given them zero stars if I could have. Hell, even negative stars. It was the most awful experience. We reserved the RV a long time ago, the beginning of July I would say, the middle the latest. We picked it up today 8/5/15 at 11am. It was a 2006 model. It was GROSS on the inside. The roof was all stained up and run down looking. We started driving it back to our house and turned the AC on right away to check the condition of it and make sure everything worked as it should. Well, it turns out in fact, it was not working as it should. The AC didn't work AT ALL and then we called them. They were ZERO help. It was almost like they didn't want to help. When we told them the issue they instructed us to call roadside service. Well roadside service said that they might be able to fix it but it would be AT LEAST two hours. Well, needless to say we informed them that we have our trip booked already and couldn't wait that time because we were supposed to be leaving. So, we drove back to El Monte after talking to them several times where they refused to do anything for us or help us in any way, shape or form. They informed us that they had another RV but couldn't give it to us because it had already been reserved. We found that unacceptable since ours had already been reserved as well and we got an awful RV. We suggested that they take ours back and by the time the other people picked theirs up that they could have that AC fixed and they refused that too. We had to scramble at the very last minute to change ALL of our reservations and plans at Disney World since EL MONTE IS RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. I wouldn't suggest them AT ALL, ever. I couldn't believe the experience or their lack of help. We we never ever going back. read more
