Friends of ours who have lived in Mazatlan for many years brought us to this off the beaten track spot. It is only a block of the Malecon in old Mazatlan, but if you didn't know to look for it, you would never done it.
Although it is booked as a sports bar, when we were there in the early evening it seemed very much like a nice restaurant with a couple of TVs, not a raucus hard drinking bar.
We started with delicious ceviche made with shrimp, pulpo (octopus), and fish mixed with the usual vegetables. It was really tasty and all of the seafood was soft and tender. A great start to put meal.
They have a nice selection of drinks, both with liquor and without and plenty of beers to choose from. Our host had a virgin strawberry colada, my wife a traditional Pina colada while we others had over cold beers.
One of us had the grilled Salmon, my wife had the filter de pesvado con cilantro which was a couple of nice pieces of fish on a bed of julienned vegetables and a very tasty cilantro sauce. Our host reported that it is his favorite dish. The last two meals were the pork ribs (costillos) which were very tender and covered with a sweet sauce with just a hint of butterscotch to it. The ribs were large enough that I brought 1/2 home with us and we both had a good lunch with one still left over.
We didn't see any other gringos here, only lots of local groups. A great place for a more authentic meal of you are visiting. read more
