So this is closer to a 3.5 star than 4 The EPMR is small family run business that serves great food and a full bar at decent prices. The service is at a lesurliy pace. The complimentary chips are great. The food was brought out quickly. I had the tres cabollaros (very good - I'd have it again). The pitcher of raspberry margarita was tasty but very weak in booze. The cashier had trouble (again) breaking out our check (needing booze on one and food on the other) - will need to remember to have them do that initially. I suggest not sitting by the bar - the blender is very noisy. Otherwise a pretty good second experience and we will go back. read more

These guys are nothing to write home about for sure but since it's slim pickings around these parts, it is what it is. Came here for lunch with coworkers and the lunch mixed fajitas portion were a joke. Got maybe 4 small strips of beef and all of it together didn't even cover half the skillet. With that small of a portion some of it was burnt also by the time it came out. Service was whatever, the 2 guys working looked about as enthusiastic as someone waiting in line at the DMV. Literally had to walk around a table bc one of the servers taking an order couldn't be bothered to budge an inch when I tried to walk by. I'll let you guess if you think I'll be back. read more

I've been here twice. You seat yourself. It has a dining room and bar area. Service is decent. Chips are good, salsa is ok Menu is traditional Mexican food. It's prepared very quickly. Tastes average. Had a pitcher of margaritas (60 oz) for 2 people and I'm fairly sure there was no alcohol in it. Pay at the register as you leave. Both times the process took over 15 minutes due to "computer issues' which I think in reality was due to me trying to pay partial cash and partially on credit card. I love Mexican food and it's even better when it's from a local small business. This group has been around for a long time and they actually care about the quality of their work and are deeply invested in making this restaurant a success. The El Paso Burrito is a favorite with my teenage sons, who are always FULL afterward. The shredded chicken and shrimp options are great! We find it's much more expensive to order a la carte, so consider the meals/platters if you are looking to stretch your food dollars! read more

If you look at my reviews I never give a restaurant a 1 star unless it was really bad. First off I sat in the booth and there was a giant indent/hole in the seat. I didn't complain I just scooted over. I do not eat meat and they did not have cheese enchiladas on the menu. So I asked if they can do cheese enchiladas with rice and beans they said yes. They bring out my food and it had no flavor and vary bland. Ok no big deal I was just in the neighborhood. Well I get the bill and my plate was about $15. Ok I understand they didn't have cheese enchiladas on the menu but when all of your meat enchiladas with rice and beans is $10 I wouldn't think it would be $5 more for a meatless dish. They charged me for the sauce on the enchiladas. I don't complain so I left and let my partner complain to management. read more

I have heard some good things about this place, but to be honest I was not that impressed with the service and portion sizes. The lunch burrito, at $7.99, should be a sizable portion and enough to fill you up, but unfortunately that was not the case here. My steak burrito was mainly lettuce and veggies with a few steak pieces here and there. And upcharges- 99 cents for a small cup of salsa, $2.50 for beans...seems a little much. Not near the amount of food for what I expected at this price point! In addition, the service at the front counter was not friendly at all. If portions were larger I would come here again; hopefully I just caught them on a bad day! read more

What a great place, great food and amazing staff!! On a Harley road trip last weekend, we stayed at a local hotel in the little town of El Paso, IL. Arriving wet from driving in storms over and hour, tired and hungry, the desk clerk at the hotel suggested this restaurant. What a perfect place to relax and shake off the chills from our ride! Your first treat is when you walk in the door! Ambiance galore!! Service was prompt and friendly and the food (authentic) was amazing!! The place is much bigger than it looks from the outside! Plenty of room for a large group, or place's you can tuck away for a romantic dinner for 2. When we go there, they had an either Bachelor party or "turned 21" party going on in the back. Even with a bunch of rowdy's we were not bothered the least bit! But to be honest, we loved it! We got a kick out of watching his buddies make him drink shots while wearing a huge sombrero!!! My husband had the fajitas and I had a shredded chicken chimichanga! Both were very tasty!! We warmed up, filled our tummies and met some new people! Great night!! read more

Our first time here, and we were rather impressed. Still has the feel of being a former bar, but the food was quite good. My wife is kind of selective about her Mexican eateries, as she's traveled there a lot, and she really enjoyed the pollo loco. This place is alright to get your mexican food fix but nothing here is really over the top. It's the only mexican restaurant in the area. Most of the items in the dinner section of their menu don't come with a side of rice and beans which we thought was strange. The margaritas are nothing special and are made from Baileys and not from scratch. We moved nearby from Naplate and we were spoiled by Mariachis. When I said no thanks I will leave it there they tried to sneak it on my bill. Horrible service and we wont ever go back. Also waitress touched our daughters hair while we were eating. Staff was rude and didn't understand my order when I asked. They also thought I was dining and dashing but I forgot to pay so I came back in. The bar is always dirty and the tables need deep cleaned but I also went there only once wasn't impressed. There's like 40+ Mexican restaurants in Central annoy this is just one of the several. Nothing fancy inside, just really good food. This was my first visit and I had the Mi Casa Fajita and it was excellent.

We as a family have gone here in a year 10 or more times. The staff is amazing and they take care of all your needs. Not that expensive but you do get smaller then most plate sizes of food. Rather pay alittle more for more food. Fine choice or liquor as well. read more

The wait staff is incredibly on top of things! The food is good, margaritas are outstanding, and you can't beat the prices.

I'd suggest not bringing a large party to this restaurant. I had quite a large group and the staff was not suited to serve us. We had to wait about 30 minutes after we were seated and given drinks until we were able to order. Then after waiting awhile to get our food our order was not right. Long waits, if you can even get seated by a non existent staff. They only give enough sour cream to cover 1/10 of your burrito and don't even think your gonna get more than 1 tsp of guacamole. I saw this restaurant had 5 stars, well, the service was very poor. I got a burrito and an enchilada and both were slathered with red sauce that was cold and tasted a bit like a tomato soup. When I finally got a waiter, I told the waiter I didn't care for the sauce, he took the plate and explained to me that's the way it comes then gave me my check. Not pleased! read more
