Very unreliable online service. I get Access Restricted every morning. Costumer Service is not available when I get up very early in the morning to read this newspaper online. I have to go to other online news services because the chance of the El Paso Times online being available are slim to none. After I got through two or three other sites I try the Times again, to no avail. But that's to be expected with a USA Today news services. read more

The El Paso Times representatives have lied to me twice about the subscription rate. Both times they have said it would be "$15 a month until further notice," and then the rate increases to $40 without any notice. I have filed consumer complaints about this with the BBB and various agencies, but beware any claims about a reduced subscription rate. Additionally, the EPT cannot deliver the paper without it being drenched on watering days--we have asked for delivery in plastic or on the driveway, but to no avail. read more

Today marks the second week anniversary since I ordered a hardcopy of the daily paper Sun- Fri, but I still have to receive a single issue. Every time I call and report the missing paper, the representative seems outraged and astonished about the fact that the delivery hasn't started. "The issue was accelerated and even the district manager got involved", according to the person that answers the phone, but other than excuses and new promises, everything remains the same. After moving back to El Paso, I wanted to support our local paper so I subscribed for a year. I wish I had given that money to charity instead. In my opinion, the lack of professionalism, the poor writing and reporting are the worst I've ever seen. They don't even try. If it wasn't for high school sports and obituaries, they wouldn't have anything to report on. My guess is that they assume that most El Pasoans aren't interested in what goes on in Austin. I wrote to the editor and got a response with a couple of links attached on a couple of stories they did about legislation in Austin. Nothing spectacular. El Paso continues to grow and it deserves a newspaper that can meet that growth. read more

I can't remember the last time I bought a copy of the El Paso Times, but I always end up reading a copy at waiting rooms about every other week, and it always disappoints me at how much of their print content is wire news, so really IMO its not worth purchasing. Additionally their website is incredibly bloated with pop-up ads making it horribly slow and their local High School sports news on the site are not always up to date, that is the sports they do cover. read more

Why do your customer service agents just randomly and abruptly end the chat when we're still not done asking questions about our subscription ?? That happened happened me twice today within a matter of like 15 minutes. I didn't get the first agent's name but the second agent's name was Angela. Next time I'm gonna take a screen shot of whoever just leaves the chat so abruptly. That's so rude. As I paying customer it is your duty to help me with my subscription. Train your agents better. After 26 years of receiving the El Paso Times, we called to cancel our subscription today as the price is just too high. Our bill had no date on it, only stated "pay by 3/28" and that the new subscription would start in May. However, the person on the phone said that the bill must have been lost in the mail (????) and that we owed $17 because we had gone past our expiration date? What? Again, no date on the bill to prove it was sent in February and/or "lost in the mail". The two dates that are listed are future dates, so not sure why we would owe? This seems like a scam from a company ready to go under and needing money any way they can get it. Too bad that my husband truly thought we owed money and paid them. read more

I read this paper nearly every day, including the editorials (which puts me in the top 5%) and I have to say it is an embarrassment. Why? Well sometimes the headlines are so dull, they merely state the obvious and I have to force myself to read the article. Then there are typos, subject verb disagreements, boring editorials, racist letters, pitiful selection of comics, and generally poorly edited articles. Best sections are the blood and gore Borderlands and NYT puzzle in the classifieds. read more

I wish I could roll the clock back to the day I subscribed to this newspaper. I would re-do history and stay far away from home delivery of this newspaper. The following has been my experience: 1) I was promised in writing a three-month initial discount at a rate of $12.00/per month, and that did not happen; 2) For some odd reason, it took the delivery person quite some time to stop throwing the newspaper underneath my truck, even after being advised not to do so; 3) After cancelling the newspaper subscription, I was repeatedly charged on my credit card for four months; 4) Since the El Paso Times belongs to the Gannett News Corporation, trying to get through to Gannett's customer service department was like calling The White House and asking to speak to POTUS. I lost count of the number of times I was put on-hold, and the service representatives did not come back to speak with me. Wow! I was eventually able to get through to Gannett's customer service as of November 5, 2018, and was told that the charges would be stopped. Let's see! read more

I have lived in El Paso for 2 years and was told that the paper was not delivered in my area (far northeast). As a military spouse for over 475 years, I have lived in most states and overseas - and I have ALWAYS had the newspaper for the area delivered. This is the first place that I have been where the service is non-existent and the customer service sucks. At the 2019 Home and Garden show - I actually signed up and was told I could get the paper in my area. Well, guess what - the paper was delivered 03/14 - as I was told. Then no paper on Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday. Left a message on Friday about the missed paper - never got to a live person. When I cancelled the paper - I was told that the set-up fee was non-refundable. I told the person that was ridiculous sine I only got one paper and the paper delivery person just didn't give a crap. I guess he was surprised he had an extra paper at the end of his shift and he could keep it? DO NOT BUY THIS NEWSPAPER. IT IS ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF THE DISJOINTED WAY THINGS ARE DONE IN EL PASO. read more

An Eldorado high school student came by my house selling subscriptions for a fundraiser. I paid him $25 for 3 months daily and Sunday delivery. I was not receiving my papers, called the times to notify them. Was told I would receive credit and shortly after did start receiving my papers. That lasted about a week, then delivery stopped again. I called again, and talked to a gentleman who didn't seem concerned so I requested cancellation and a refund of the unused portion of my subscription. That was 2 weeks ago, I was told I would see my refund in a week to week and a half. No refund yet. I'll never buy a times subscription again. ***UPDATE*** I just today got a refund check in the mail. We received in total less than a weeks worth of papers. The refund check was for less than half of what I paid. Essentially, I paid about $14 for 6 or 7 daily papers. I consider myself ripped off by the El Paso Times. Never again!!! read more

I agree with most of the reviewers that the El Paso Times is a really poor excuse for a newspaper for a city of this size. To add insult to injury this paper forces internet readers to pay for a digital subscription. And this paper does not even have a Facebook page. Perhaps they are too embarrassed about the low quality of their publication to maintain a Facebook page. read more
