Nice little cafe which I've walked passed a million times…read more Staff are very friendly and welcoming as you enter. Extensive menu options to select from which, I knew from my first visit that I would be back to try out all the dishes I couldn't fit in that day. Generally not a 3 course lunch meal kinda girl but here I feel compelled to make the full selection. Gluten free conscientious restaurant but you do not really notice. Meat dishes are tender and juicy with the portion sizes of a good volume. Their drinks menu is also very extensive with cocktails, hot drinks and beers. The food menu also comes with an accompany photo sheet so you can have an idea of what you are ordering rather than just eyeing up what comes out of the kitchen. We did have to book a table on the first time we went which was around 3ish. Second time we went a little later and there was availability without having to book. Additional plus is that they take Tastecard on a Saturday which is always a bonus.

First time here and as with many of the eateries in the Palace triangle I did enjoy my experience…read more If you speak Spanish then you can join in the conversation with the staff. There were a few Spanish speakers in when I was in there which does add to the atmosphere. The staff do start conversations in Spanish but quickly help you out with their English, which is much better than my Spanish. "dos cervezas, por favor" Anyway they have a helpful menu which gives a good description of the food they offer. The food is genuine Venezuelan and whilst I could not see the chef I imagined her to be a small older lady. The food was very filling, we went the whole hog and went for three course. The starters all seem to be available with either chicken, beef or pork fillings/toppings. We sampled the Pastelitos and the Tostones which were very tasty. For mains we had the Arepa, which once you get used to the corn bread roll it is very tasty. We also had their national dish, Pabellon de Pollo. I think the actual traditional dish is served with beef but we got the idea. They have a good range of drinks, both alcoholic and non alcoholic. They had some interesting looking milk shakes which I will have to try another time. The food was good the service was good as was the atmosphere. I will definitely be back to sample some of the other delights on the menu. If you want to go on a Saturday best ring in advance as tables are limited!! You have been warned.

Fish, Fish, Fishy Fish…read more Since falling off the vegetarian cart back on to the pescetarian way of life (yes those pesky-tarians) I have begun to enjoy the wonderful world of sea dwellers - on my plate. And oh sweetness of everything that likes to be beside the seaside A Torre has soo much to offer a fish lover. The amount of times we've walked past this restaurant and never gave it a second glance, we finally took a look at the menu and there was just soo much there that left us 'Oooooh-ing' and 'aaaahh-ing' we knew we'd have to come back and check it out. Today was the day and we were not disappointed. The restaurant was lovely. Very simple inside, but included some lovely touches that really make a difference to your standard casual restaurant. Table cloths, cloth napkins, branded glasses, hand painted terracotta plates... Even when we asked for some ice we were brought a small sliver bucket and tongs. The Specials menu was written by hand and inserted into the standard menu. And there was soo much choice (if you like fish), We started with Sardines (well you have to when pretending your in Lisbon and not zone 3). 3 lovely big, fresh sardines and salad garnish. We both picked off the specials menu, swordfish steak and potatoes for the Mrs and Monkfish and rice for me. Delicious. Subtle flavors, soft fish and perfectly cooked rice. Very generous portions. While this is not the cheapest restaurant in the area, the average starter at £7 and main at £13 - in terms of value for money it is really reasonable. There was no room for desert today - but we'll be back.

It's not the biggest Mexican Resturant but it's local(ish) and as you can use Tastecard there that makes it even better. So pointers, Tastecard cannot be used to access the happy hour cocktails, Tastecard cannot be applied to the house specials . Anyway it is a small friendly restaurant the staff were very welcoming and the actual environment of the restaurant is ok, painted walls with Mexican imagery along with pictures of Hollywood legends in action mood, think Charles Bronson and Clint Eastwood (to name a few) and so the list goes on. Except there is a picture of Gregory Peck in his civvies, which I really did not get. The cocktails were very good I will be going back without the car to sample more. The fact that you can order a pitcher of the cocktail you have is cool, the Mexican Banger is good The food is served in good portion sizes, except my starter of butterflied king prawns, could have used more than 3!!! The mains were all of good size and very filling. They could use slightly more spice but I guess that is a personal taste thing. All in all I will go back just to sample a pitcher of the Mexican Banger
