I never thought I'd hear myself type this, but... I think I tried one of the best burritos I've ever had, not in California, but in Dublin. Yes, Ireland. The lady running this place, while being Brazilian, knows how to make legit Mexican cuisine better than most Mexicans I know. The menu is simple, with your typical offering of tacos, burritos, and quesadillas made with all the quality and care of a 5-Star restaurant, but with the love and attention of a family-run business. One of their biggest selling points is how spicy their food can get. Whilst you can definitely go ahead and order mild, the 'super spicy' option tempts most to try it at least once. Given that my friend has a stomach of steel, I got him to try it for me and tell me all about it. He almost cried; most people do when they try this chili. But the flavor is all there, with a slight sweetness that makes it almost addictive. I can personally vouch for their chicken burrito and the quesadillas. The quesadillas are the cheesiest ones I've had yet, and the burrito packs all the flavor you could possibly want from such a concoction, with or without the sauces. However, if I may suggest a compromise between the super spicy sauce and nothing at all: They also have a homemade chipotle sauce and a jalapeño one, neither of which are overly-hot, yet both still pack all the flavor you could want to add to your taco or burrito. And while I have no complaints about my pollo asado burrito, whatsoever, I was given to try a bit of the carnitas by Tatiana, and let me just say, if you're not vegetarian, you HAVE to order this meat. It's crispy, slightly-sweet, with just a hint of cinnamon, and as succulent as they come. I almost wish I could go back in time to try it all again. The lady at the till is so so rude messed up my order and when I asked to speak with the guy I order with she Refused and asked me to take what she gives me because she "doesn't have time". If your order is messed up it appears you have to eat something else other than what you paid for. Very disappointed with customer service in terms of resolving mixed up order. However the food is good albeit they serve very small portions. read more

I never would have discovered this place if it wasn't for the offer they had on Groupon, I certainly hadn't heard about it from friends. So for a very quick review, it's a nice little place where you can sit and eat your food, the staff are extremely nice and friendly and helpful. The food, for me was only ok but I'm biased as I really really don't lile coriander and this place has mountains of the stuff on and in everything. Ok I get that Mexican food has a lot of the devil herb involved but this was more than I've ever seen anywhere before. They charge 1.50 for some roared veg or jalopones which is a complete rip off! I had the beef and the meat was really good, juicy and tender (salivating now just thinking about it nnnooommmm) They don't have bottles of salsa and hot sauce on the tables but will give you some homemade ones instead which I thought was a mice touch, even tho there was loads of devil herb in there! Food is tasty but we got small portions for our burrito bowl. They charge a little extra for cheese and guac which is pretty standard in burrito bars. read more

Fantastic new burrito place on the Northside close to the cinema and bars. You walk in and get hit by the gorgeous smell of everything waited to be tasted. The decor itself is fab as well. Real funky vibe about the place. Now as with every burrito place, what to choose...?!? Burrito, taco, burrito bowl! Choices choices. But lets start with the basic. Burrito it is! The chef ended up serving us and was so friendly with the biggest smile on his face ever. Seemed to really care about us and helped in the decision making process. I'm not a vegetarian but opted for the roasted vegetables which looked amazing. Throw in some cheese, beans, salsa, guac, sour cream and I'm in heaven. OH went for the beef and oh my, best beef Ive tasted. So succulent and melt in your mouth. Once we sat down they also brought over some sauces for us to try with the burrito. One creamy sauce and one spicy sauce and these were fantastic also. Can't beat the sauce! They also have a large option(!) the El Gordo which I think is a little bit like a challenge!!! I'll stick to my regular size one for now and go hotter and spicier each time! Great burrito at a great price :) read more

We think El Patron is the best Mexican food in Dublin! I don't say it lightly because there are so many burrito places to choose from, but this place has an authenticity and sense of flavour that all the other chain-like joints lack. We ordered a Veggito burrito and a pair of veggie tacos. Extra guac on the burrito. I was given the choice of which taco I wanted - flour or corn, and was happily told I could try one of each. This all came to €11.30! In total! The decor is cool and the music is pure Latin American pop, the whole place has a fun, latin vibe, topped off by the cheery staff. But the food is the star of the show here. The burrito contained the lot- fresh veg, lettuce, bean, rice, cheese, guacamole so fresh it zinged. The tacos were soft, tangy, spicy, sharp and crunchy, the sweetness of the roasted peppers and courgettes straight out of the oven made the lime, coriander and chilli flavours bounce around the palette. It's simple food but there are lovely layers to it. Their home made salsa is hot and fiery and amazing. It's only drawback is their lack of a license, but they gladly encourage you to pop next door to Centra and pick up a cold beer to enjoy one of life's best combinations, hot good burritos and cool tasty beer.
