I was served the wrong dish, and when I politely brought it to the waiter's attention, I was told there was nothing that could be done and that I still had to pay for it. The meal was boxed up for me without offering a replacement or any solution. When it came time to pay, the credit card machine was handed to my husband for the tip, which felt awkward and dismissive given the situation. The food itself was also underwhelming. I asked about adjusting the seasoning and was told it wasn't possible. The flavors were not what I expected, and having eaten at restaurants all over the world, this meal fell well below that standard. For a restaurant that presents itself as service-oriented and welcoming, especially to visitors, this experience was surprising and disappointing.

Whoa, this place is popular!…read more Hubbers and I are so glad we came through the exact time we did because if we waited ten minutes, we would have had to wait another 20. We were seated and given menus immediately so they're efficient with their time! Since I'm a first timer, I wanted to take my time with the menu. While waiting, they gave us complimentary chips with 2 kinds of bean dips, pico de gallo and red sauce: all very tasty! We've had to ask for a second serving! I've had huevos motulenos a few times, so I wanted the other version: huevos divorciados de la chaya maya. (Fine, I'll admit, I got it because I thought it was funny.) All I asked is if it was spicy (it's not) and that's all I know about the dish. So it was almost like a surprise dish for me. HUEVOS DIVORCIADOS DE LA CHAYA MAYA: I left it up to Hubbers to pick which ones I might like. He chose relleno negro and pipian - and he chose well! Broke the sunny side up yolk and mixed it in the relleno negro, added with the crispy texture of the chips: YUM. Did the same for the pipian, with its nutty flavor and creamy texture. Even the pumpkin seeds added taste. Sooooo goood! I made sure to empty that plate. LOS 3 MOSQUETEROS YUCATECOS: Hubbers' choice. This is a pretty plate! I got to try the pureed plantain (a first for me!) and that was tasty! Had a teenee taste each of the three dishes and also delicious. FOOD: 5. SERVICE: 4. VALUE: 4. PARKING: I didn't notice any parking lots, so can't comment on that, but there is street parking. Could be a challenge. OVERALL: 4.50 (bumped it up a little.) And the cherry on top: there's a lady making fresh tortillas. And they are delish! A crowd formed outside waiting for seating. I truly understand why. They really are popular! An amazing first run! Highly recommending!

My nieces frequent Chichi regularly and they like it. This is a seafood restaurant with extensive menu with meat and other options. If you're a vegan like me, you'r options are limited but not impossible. The bay windows open and if you're seated by them you have a grandiose view everything going on the boardwalk and the beach. If you didn't want to eat in the restaurant but wanted to eat on the beach under a Palapa - thatched umbrella dining table, and if there was space available, the Palapa it is. The service is slightly slow but for a Saturday afternoon it's expected with a full dining room. There are make shift box fans spread out in the dining area and each table is equipped with mosquito fan and a purse stand. As a vegan, I ordered the guacamole minus cheese and minus Chicharrones. The guacamole was fresh and the habanero salsa options at the table SLAP!! There were four options with the black one - fiery spicy but had a tremendous amount of flavor. Even though it's fiery spicy it's not overbearing for me. The rice and fried banana plate needed to be clarified before final ordering but I was told that there was not any animal products in my dish. The SOL cerveza was ice cold and was continually replenished. The rice and fried banana plate arrived and it was good not great but good. Everyone else's dishes and were plated with care. My nieces enjoyed their dishes as well. Can Chichi be a tourist trap ? Maybe but we were a party of 7 with apps, entrees, drinks, and deserts for $200. All in all it was a great Saturday lunch that left us full for the rest of the.
