The grounds are beautifully landscaped with a variety of stately old gorgeous trees. The cemetery was also an arboretum featuring several varieties of trees spread throughout. Inside the cemetery you will find the final resting place of Nashville's first families including its founder, James Robertson. Two of Nashville's original Fisk Jubilee singers, Mabel Lewis Imes and Ella Shepard Moore are buried there. There is a lot to see in the almost 30 acre cemetery. It's a great place to take a leisure walk, read and observe the many unique tombstones. They have walking maps as well as oversized books scattered throughout to read and learn more about those interred there. The website is also a great resource for information: www.the nashvillecitycemetery.org. Every month on the Second Saturday at 10 am, the cemetery offers free themed tours. Also, special learning sessions on GPR (ground penetration radar), period gardening and tombstone cleaning is offered. In October, they host nightly lantern tours as well as a Living History Tour as a fundraiser. The NCC is the best value in Nashville because it's FREE. Free parking is also available inside the cemetery. The grounds are well maintained primarily by volunteers via the Nashville City Cemetery Association. The NCC does accept donations. Don't visit Nashville without visiting its first living outdoor museum.

It has been opened since 1822 and in those over two hundred years, the Nashville City Cemetery has found itself the final resting spot for many of Nashville's prominent citizens. Included in those buried here are four of Nashville's first settlers, several men who fought in the Revolutionary A War, four Confederate generals, countless Nashville mayors, a Tennessee governor and many more. To walk through this cemetery is to walk through history. One thing that I enjoy about cemeteries is that I am walking amongst the final resting spots of people who lived their lives. They laughed, they cried, the enjoyed good times and bad times. Some died old, some young, but here they rest in their eternal slumber. I would definitely recommend a visit here. The pages of history were written by those who rest here.

My wife ordered the Grilled Shrimp Platter which was incredible infusion of different cut vegetables and the sauce served was outstanding! Rice and beans were fantastic. The rice tasted like a risotto and it was so tasty. I ordered the fish taco with flour tortilla and it came with different spiced spread and sauces. It was pan fried. I absolutely loved the crunchy corn taco with shredded beef. I will definitely be back with my wife again!

We had two watermelon a mango and a mezcal margarita. They were great. The waiter recommended the watermelon as a favorite and he was absolutely right. The mezcal margarita eas mine and it was deliciously smoky. For the meals this is where i knock a star off because overall the tacos were good but I wouldn't say it was overwhelmingly great. My fiancee and dad got the birria tacos they did a pretty good job. I got the skirt steak i believe and it was ok. Tender but not too flavorful. Tasted more just like beef. I believe its marinated but i didnt really get hints of any spices. Again, I'm not saying it was terrible by any means. Just left something to be desired. We also ordered the wueso flameado and that was pretty good. Overall a good place to eat. Would recommend checking it out.
